Atiku needs to thread this path carefully...

Given that crude oil is tied to dollar for pricing, he needs to also explain how he will either divest that connection or manage it so it does not negatively impact his planned subsidy arrangement...

Because it will get to a certain rate where the amount of subsidy provided would not be worth the effort.

If pallying your business partner means starving your children nko?
That is exactly what is happening in the case of Nigeria.

Besides Nigeria has many present and potential streams of business.

Why arent you tieing figures to your over tacky spread.......your amorphous propaganda makes no sense if you aren't throwing figures at it.

Dangote in the last quarter got 52m barrels of crude,in just one quarter.........how much is your atiku paying for in these volume and how much will it get to the pump ,remember a barrel is now between $80 to $90......lets start the discourse from here.

I got tired because they are a lot of people with your mentality in Nigeria

There's no country on earth that can develop without the investment of foreign investors even China and the US.

How did you think China became the production power house they are today without the investment from US and Europe?
Nobody is against foreign investors/investment. The bone of contention is the continuous neglect of local businesses especially small and medium scale, who in fact are the highest employers of labour in Nigeria.
As you run around the globe looking for foreign investors, don't suffocate their local counterparts with high interest rates, poor infrastructure, a very weak currency etc.

Foreign Investor Obsession

I get tired of this trope of making it look like foreign investors are more important than local investors, local residents or local citizens. It is a phantom idea that money will come from outside as if those people coming from outside your country care about you. What are you in government for? Foreign investors or local residents?

Nigerian administrations frequently engage in costly international investment summits and globe-trotting missions to woo foreign capital but these jamboree rarely yield any noticeable changes to the people. Government officials will mistake short-term, speculative foreign portfolio investments, which can be pulled out at the first sign of any crisis for sustainable, long-term capital that builds factories and creates local employment. They end up shortchanged. The foreign investors are like patrons of the red light district. They just want to have fun for the night and wake up in the day with their wives. We don't think about building the capacity for local investors and making it easier for real Nigerians to do the building, we want the so-called foreigner. Wake up Soni, no one is coming to save you.
Good insights here. I have had some thoughts along same line. Many times, the commitments are mere MOUs that hardly translate to investment on ground.

It's unfortunate that to the government, the small scale guys who's investing 5m or 10m and is not repatriating the profits outside the shores of the country is thrown aside, while the whites and reds are been courted at the taxpayers' expense. If there's a good balance between both categories, then it's fine.

Even the Ease of Doing Business metric is skewed towards foreign or big local investors. You'd see government constructing a road along a vibrant economic road for five years which kills businesses along that axis.

You're uninformed. You're asking for the investors?

Go to CBN site and see the volume of foreign direct investment that Tinubu has brought. Ask yourself why our macro economy is looking good. Many reasons are responsible for the stable macro economy which is majorly the foreign investment inflow.

Since I read what Obasanjo said about Atiku, I don't trust him anymore. I can't trust a custom officer.

Remember he's lost election 7 times and I know he's ready to fight Tinubu dirty in this his last attempt.

He'll fight Tinubu, destroy him, blow some lies, use Court, use paid journalists, physical and probably spiritual to weaken Tinubu. He's ready for anything after all he doesn't have anything to lose.

"APC saying that if subsidy comes back there will be queues reminds me of how I met my wife during Buhari’s time. We were both queuing at a filling station, I saw her behind me & decided to give her my spot. We exchanged numbers & the rest is history. That’s the beauty of subsidy."

Atiku has sealed his own fate.. we might likely see him losing massively in the North come 2027.
There are some things you don't just say to score cheap points.

Nigeria would have collapsed if not for PBAT's strong reforms and hard decisions he had to take. Most political actors in other parties are gradually coming out to support him because they know his worth and capabilities.
The so called strong reforms were implemented about 2- 3 years ago. What are the results? Our Naira has become very weak, inflation is rampant, production has rapidly declined, unemployment is on a steady climb, borrowings/debts are on steriods, our capital budgets since 2024 have not been fully funded etc.

Let's not allow the political class and their lackeys decieve us, this administration have done more harm than good.

I don't know why the same people who insult this country every day and other nationalities in Nigeria will be so hell bent on wanting to claim identities and states of others.

This is the Afro Zikist Marxist mentality that I have been warning about here .

You still need foreign inflow no mattee what .

The only countries that thrive are those who have a trade surplus that is, they export more than they produce leading to a net gain in capital.

China won't be what it is today without transfer of foreign capital investments and know how.

So how will your Atiku abolish state of origin?

Will he make a decree to also outlaw ethnic identities as well and then outlaw indigenous languages, customs, cultures and history so that Nigeria becomes one big brazillesque mulatto society?

Will you be ready and willing to stop being an Ibo man ?

Is this why one Chima is running under NDC for Lagos House of Reps position under his pseudo name "omobarca" and dressing as a Yoruba man to hide his Ibo identity ?

You people will learn to be yourselves and be by yourselves.

Everything is about looking good on paper, raising the country's debt profile while the masses suffer. And so they can continue to pile on more debt for future generations. What's the benefit of subsidy removal to the average Nigerian? None. It leads to massive inflation, which erodes the value of the currency while the country continues to look good on paper to outside investors and politicians continue to cart billions away.

How does subsidy on petroleum amount to economic isolation?

Before May 2023, were there no foreign investment to Nigeria?
Re: Atiku's Fuel Subsidy Proposal May Scare Investors, IMPI Warns by Ankakh: 11:13pm On Aug 26
The controversy has since centred on whether the fiscal gains from subsidy removal have sufficiently translated into improved living conditions for Nigerians.

The Federal Government has maintained that the policy freed significant resources for the three tiers of government. According to figures presented by the Finance Minister, Taiwo Oyedele, subsidy and foreign exchange reforms mobilised N15.8tn for the Federation between June 2023 and December 2025.
In 2.5 years, the purported savings from fuel subsidy and FC reforms was N15.8trn and made available across the three tiers of government.

Can they also highlight what has been done with these funds? What infrastructure has been started? How much was it? Who benefitted from the contract? How many people will benefit from the project at different phases?

And are we still paying subsidies till date?
Re: Atiku's Fuel Subsidy Proposal May Scare Investors, IMPI Warns by bobolaga: 12:33am On Aug 27
If any one of us know the game behind subsidy you will not support who is bringing back subsidy, subsidy can only work, when NNPC and NNPCL can get their own loading ships as long as they are still hiring cargo ships, with a lot delay, diversion of product, or delay tactic for about three months to any discharged location for more demurrages, that is more than money to buy ship, we all forget that Atiku is formal immigration boss so he knew how to minovery , all of the roger the doger, the problem, between Atiku and Tinubu did not start today, in short, any Northerner candidate for up coming election should keep patience for Tinubu to complete his eight years, average northers get upset when ever south west or south south are in power, they should turn a new leave in Nigeria politic, the old brain washing is over, either President Tinubu is the worst ruler on earth, let him finish what he has started.
