The US fulfill their mission on killing a terrorist commander. Our own military will lie that they kill a terrorist commander only for the commander to resurface in a video and call them Liars and begin to mock them. |

If you ever thought it was about “Christian Genocide” then you don’t know how the US operates. They blackmail to get bidding done. They already got want they wanted. You think Trump cared about some Black Christians in Africa? 😂😂😂 |

89green:Young man, discuss with facts, clear reasons and ideas. Tell us if your country has benefitted or not. If not, in what ways did the USA fail. By the way, bear it in mind that it is the responsibility of your government to provide security for its citizens. So if your country asks for assistance because of one inadequacy or the other, it is not our of place. If you are worried that the USA chose to help out with Christian genocide in Nigeria, then you must be one of those who find peace with the killings happening. |

rapcy:You make a valid point, and I'm not here to defend the US or downplay the reality on the ground. The Sokoto attack you mentioned is a painful reminder that terrorism and banditry are still very much alive in Nigeria. And you're right – despite the US presence, we haven't seen a dramatic drop in kidnapping or attacks. But here's the distinction: The US mission was never about solving Nigeria's security crisis holistically. They came to target a specific global terrorist – Abu-Bilal Al-Minuki, the ISIS second-in-command – and disrupt international terror networks. They didn't come to stop banditry in Zamfara, kidnapping in Kaduna, or farmer-herder conflicts in Benue. So yes – if we're measuring by the overall security situation in Nigeria, the US presence may not have made a noticeable difference. But if we're measuring by their own narrow objective, they achieved it. The real question is: Should Nigeria have expected more from the US? Or is it our own responsibility to fix the deeper structural issues fueling insecurity? I'm not a comedian o. I'm just asking the questions we should all be asking. |

san4P:You've hit the nail on the head: 1. The Nigerian government must be willing. No foreign power will save us from ourselves. 2. The US can help by targeting sponsors – apprehending them abroad and seizing their assets. Cut the money, cut the terror. 3. Foreign troops can be a propaganda tool – terrorists will use their presence to recruit and justify attacks. 4. Terrorism is a system – fighters, sponsors, supporters, and root causes must all be tackled together. A lasting solution requires a comprehensive, multi-layered approach. Anything less is just temporary relief. Renaissance. Dream Again. 🙏 |

ElevationD:Thank you for this breakdown. You don really explain am well. 🙏 On the operation: You're right – to reach the main target, dem must first clear the people around am. E no be just one person wey dem kill. Na the whole network wey dem disrupt. That one na serious achievement. On the 200 soldiers: Your Syria example make sense. America no need to send thousands of soldiers. Dem send small team to train, give intelligence and logistics. Na local soldiers do the real fighting. That model work before, and e work for Nigeria too. On the request: You also correct say our government ask for the help. So this one no be America forcing themselves on us. Na we invite dem. But the real question still dey: Now wey America don leave, wetin go happen next? The operation don succeed, but the root problems wey cause terrorism still dey – poverty, unemployment, bad governance. If we no fix those things, new terrorists go just replace the ones wey dem kill. The Syria model work because the local forces continue the fight. Are our forces ready to do the same? Na wetin we need to ask ourselves. Thank you for this comment. E add value to the discussion. |

Saturnalia:I hear you o! And honestly, your anger no be completely wrong. America get history of doing things for their own interest. Trump especially – plenty people no trust am. And the bombing you talk about? Many Nigerians believe say dem just dey form to impress their own people back home. But make we separate things: This recent operation wey dem kill the ISIS commander – na real thing. E no be empty field. Dem use intelligence to track am and kill am. That one na fact. However, you right say banditry and terrorism don increase since. But why? · America no come to fight bandits – dem come to fight global terrorists · Banditry na our own problem – poverty, unemployment, bad governance · Foreign help fit help small, but e no fit solve everything So while I no trust America 100%, I no go lie say this operation succeed for their own objective. The question wey we suppose ask na: "If America help us kill one terrorist, who go help us solve the problems wey create terrorists for the first place?" Na we get that work. No America go do am for us. |

| Re: US To Withdraw Troops From Nigeria After Counterterrorism Mission by ManirBK(op): 2:39pm On Aug 28 |
Ankakh:The US solved their problem – killing an ISIS commander and disrupting their network. Good for them. And yes, it helps Nigeria too. But what about our problems? Bandits are still terrorising communities. Kidnapping is still a booming business. Terrorists are still active in the North-East. The US sees these as internal issues – and they're right. No foreign power will fight our bandits or solve our communal conflicts. So do our leaders see it that way? I'm not so sure. Because if they did, we would see: · More urgency in military operations · Better intelligence gathering · Investment in addressing root causes · Accountability for security failures The US is leaving. We are staying. The problem is ours to solve. Let's hope our leaders are ready to do the work. |
| Re: US To Withdraw Troops From Nigeria After Counterterrorism Mission by ManirBK(op): 2:52pm On Aug 28 |
HacheNoire:You're absolutely right – and I think most people who follow geopolitics know this. The US didn't come to save Christians. They came to eliminate a global terrorist threat that affected American interests. That's it. Religion had nothing to do with it. The "Christian Genocide" narrative was always a stretch – a convenient framing for some, but not the reality of US foreign policy. On blackmail: The US uses aid and military cooperation as leverage. That's how they operate globally. They give, and they expect compliance. That's not unique to Nigeria – it's standard practice. On Trump: Trump didn't care about Black Christians in Africa. Let's be honest. His policies and comments made that clear. So what's the lesson? We cannot keep looking to America to save us. They will always act in their own interest. We must learn to act in ours. Thanks for this honest comment |

If you see how my Christian folks were chanting the name of Triumph to come and Tae over Nigeria, one will think triumph will just come and decimate those badstards called terrorists. This is our problem and we must face it squarely irrespective of tribe or religion |

ManirBK:We have a three great problems in this country presently. They are: - corruption - tribal sentiments - religious sentiments We must deal with those effectively to move this country forward. Great nations first conquer agriculture and security. We are not able to achieve all those. The reasons are already stated above. Trust us long gone. The Americans will continue to offer military cooperation and assistance as needed. Remember that these are agreements. Our government must now improve on what’s available presently: - ensure proper salaries - encourage the troops - ensure that military equipments are always available. - improve on vigilante with security agencies collaborating with local groups. - stop reintegrating terrorists into societies. Terrorists never change their ways. They o my understand the language of violence. - encourage citizens to provide vital information without fear - FG MUST ensure that herdsmen get themselves ranches and stay on their ranches. Once security improves, farmers can return to their lands. Agriculture will improve, with rural roads fixed for products to get to the markets and more citizens can find employment. |

ManirBK:Those ones dey because the security agencies keeps on lying to them that is not a terriost acts but a herder farmer clashes. They keep arguing on it all the time and Ribadu or whatever his name is keeps on bribing and convincing them that it will be solved by the country's security agencies while it keeps on getting out of hand. US soldiers are also needed somewhere else in the strait of hormuz, they should go there and wait for Iranian missiles and drones. |
