What Do Igbos Take Ikwerres And Other Niger Delta Minorities For? by chrisxxx(op):
Igbos believe that the Niger Delta Minorities suffer from amnesia otherwise the thought of Ikwerres which land was partitioned and annexed by the Igbos like Europeans partitioned Africa would never cross their mind to have them exist in the same region or country.
Many Niger Delta people today celebrate the Civil War. The Civil War was the greatest undoing of the Igbos. To this end a stadium in Port Harcourt was previously called Liberation Stadium in commemoration of the freedom they got from the Igbos. When it appeared Igbos didn't read meaning to the name of the stadium Wike renamed it Yakubu Gowon Stadium to drive the point home. And if this isn't loud enough Rivers State will declare a day to celebrate Gowon. No sane person will deliberately walk into slavery. It is high time Igbos concentrated their efforts on the demarcations and limit of their five plot of land sorry states. It doesn't matter as they claim recently that an Ikwerre man is the president of their socio-cultural organisation. Joseph was an Israelite but became a leader in Egypt when they needed one.
It won't work.

Ikwerre people are not Igbo, even ESNBRUTALITY will testify to that.

Well, you need to understand theres a HUGE difference. . . Joseph was handpicked to become a leader in Egypt, he didn't deliberately campaign to be a leader like your ikwerre brother did with ohanaeze to become its own leader today 🙄

That single analogy you used has rendered your entire rant moot undecided I'm so so sorry 😞

Why not go for a referendum so you can weed out those your other ikwerre sons and daughters who feel exactly like the present ohanaeze leader does? 🤔 I'm sure their numbers won't be much abi? tongue

Hahahahahahhahahahhaa 😆 🤣

Before the first coup in Nigeria, the Igbo used to occupy different levels of the civil service in states all across Nigeria. As a matter of fact, the way we know the Igbo to be predominantly businessmen today, there was a time when they were predominantly government workers. Holding offices in the northern region. Kano and Kaduna had Igbos manning different positions in the civil service. Unfortunately though, those days are gone. Nigerians have become too clannish to allow that happy again.

But the question has to be asked. Before that first military coup, there were already strong voices of discontent from other tribes regarding the dominance of the Igbo. The general point of grief was that the Igbo tended to lord it over the other tribes. That sentiment was only heightened when an Igbo man supposedly led the first coup even though that appears up for debate. Where the Igbo actually lording it over other tribes?

Literature that dwells on this is practically non-existent. Even if such existed, one cannot discount bias from it. There was a time when our parents identified first as Nigerians before even thinking of their ethnicism. There was a time when religion mattered little. There was a time when this country actually worked. That was the country the British handed over to us even though some would say the British set up Nigeria to fail. They might be right.

Whatever plans they had, it was left for us to choose different but alas, we failed. Now, everyone views the other with suspicion.

You want me to tell you that Fubara handpicked Mbata to lead you people? Have you ever heard Mbata say that Ikwerre is Igbo? He has never. He limited whatever he is doing to himself. Una think say Na only una get sense.

Sometimes I’m baffled with their attitude towards the Rivers people, what’s there agenda really trying to force us to be a part of them, you tell an Igbo man you’re from Rivers and fiam he says na Igbo you be na,you say no and he starts to argue seriously with you.

It's still Yorubas that gave you quit notice from the entire SS in 1968

Ikwere people have been telling you forever that they are not part of your Ibo nation but you still insist that they are.

Why not just say ikweres are occupying your promised land of PH instead of trying to force the indigenes to be part of you?

They could care less about Rivers people.

They are just after their land and resources .

The irony is how you guys know the history of Niger Delta people which you all claim are Ibos and dismiss their own history .

How can a stranger tell me who I am and in this case, a stranger whom himself doesn't know his own origins but is claiming lost Jew.

Ikwere and Anioma have told you they are originally from Bini kingdom but you guys say otherwise.

Pls how can a stranger know my history and origin more than me when even he himself doesn't knows his?

I still find it difficult to understand and wrap my head around the purpose of this thread at this point, or what exactly you intend to achieve with this skewed narrative about slavery and whatnot.

The war ended in 1970.

Long before you were born.

You know nothing about the war beyond the lies, falsehoods, misinformation, and deliberate propaganda you were fed.

Ojukwu and those around him did what they believed they had to do under the circumstances they found themselves in, to save their region and the Igbos. Don’t blame him for that.

You are not Igbo. The Igbos who fought the war have long since moved on, living their lives, building businesses, and establishing themselves in every cranny of this country.

It’s election season. Focus on Tinubu and his calamitous policies masquerading as economic reforms, and spare us this ethnic, tribal bigotry and divisive campaign you keep displaying here.

The war ended in 1970. You missed it. The Igbos survived it. And somehow, you’re still fighting it.

Let's disect your response to the OP one by one

I still find it difficult to understand and wrap my head around the purpose of this thread
For context, the OP is reacting to a recent conference organized by all ethnic umbrellas to discus on regional integration based on ethnolinguistic shared heritage held in Abuja recently.

The Ohaneze representatives staged a walk out because Ikwere people alongside other Rivers people alongside Anioma nation came to the conference under the PANDEF umbrella.

The Ohaneze representatives described the entire conference as a charade over the alignment of Ikwere, Anioma and other nationalities from Rivers aligning with PANDEF and thus expressing a desire to be captured under a future Niger Delta region.

The war ended in 1970.
So it seems but it never did because you Ibos are hell-bent on restarting your Biafra with the annexation of same SS into it.

You are not Igbo. The Igbos who fought the war have long moved on
No they haven't moved on and the war was fought primarily to annex the SS and SS people suffered the most from that conflict both from you the colonizers who went about genociding and terrorising them into submission and overzealous northern soldiers who were naive to know the distinction between the Ibo and SS minority people.

You know nothing about the war beyond the lies, falsehoods, misinformation, and deliberate propaganda you were fed.
This statement applies more to you guys who have sown a victimhood toga since the very begining of the war to mask your evil deeds and greed .

The war ended in 1970. You missed it.
If it ended and Biafra is dead and Yiu Ibos have moved on, why is there a clamour for Biafra allover again by your people with the very core motive towards annexing the SS all over again?

Keep seeing me everywhere.

It gives me a healthy dose of pleasure to know that I am terrorising you to the point of seeing every poster you don't align with here as me.

The irony is that you accuse others of gaslighting while inventing a premise the OP never made. Your jaundiced claim that the OP was reacting to the Abuja conference or that Ohanaeze’s alleged walkout was the trigger, is completely unfounded. The OP never alluded to it. Unless, of course, you’re the OP yourself, running an alternate account, which would raise a rather interesting question about Nairaland Rule 19.

And spare us the ethnic sermon. You’re a notorious Tinubu-Yoruba supporter whose activities here are well known, yet you suddenly become a self-appointed historian whenever the subject is Igbo. You have no problem when Yoruba-speaking groups outside the Southwest identify with the wider Yoruba identity, but mention Igbo identity and suddenly the tribal alarm bells start ringing.

It’s election season. Tell Nigerians what Tinubu has actually done to deserve a second term instead of recycling ethnic bile, historical distortions and divisive propaganda. The war ended in 1970. Your obsession with keeping it alive says more about you than it does about the Igbos.

My friend, you are pained that the OP an Ikwere person is asking why you won't just let them be.

Every other deflection to Tinubu and the ad hominem attacks on me won't change what the OP is discussing which is why won't you leave Ikwere people alone.

Blame Yorubas.

Blame Tinubu

It doesn't change anything.

You guys are even saying the OP is a Yoruba .

Ok oh.
