Chidi Opara Reports : Dora Akunyili May Not Make It To Nigeria's New Cabinet? by PIPROM(m): 3:35pm On Mar 21, 2010
The erstwhile Nigerian Minister of Information and Communications, Professor Dora Akunyili may not make it to the new cabinet to be constituted soon by Nigeria's Acting President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

chidi opara reports was reliably informed that the former Minister, whose controversial memo to the last Executive Council of the Federation(EXCOF), requesting the body to take decission on the health status of President Umaru Yar'Adua, offended some powerful interests, is reported to be finding it difficult to lobby her way into the new cabinet. Akunyili and forty-one others lost their jobs in a recent cabinet dissolution.

The former Minister's lobbyists which included a chieftain of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, "Ohaneze ndi Igbo", could not get the ears of rtd. General Ibrahim Babangida on a recent visit to his mansion in Minna, Niger state. Babangida we learnt, rather detailed one of his junior aides to hear the lobbyists out. Dora Akunyili is from the Igbo ethnic stock.

Worse treatment was said to have been meted out to the former Minister's lobbyists at the residence of rtd. Lt. General Theophilus Danjuma in Abuja. "They were hardly allowed into the compound", a contact close to the "Ohaneze ndi Igbo" chieftain confided in chidi opara reports. Danjuma is the chairman of the recently inaugurated Presidential Advisory Committee(PAC).

Even former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who is known to have facilitated Dora Akunyili's inclusion into the last cabinet is reported to be keeping a safe distance from the controversial ex Minister. Some Obasanjo insiders who spoke to some of our network members however assured that the immediate past President's current attitude to the erstwhile Information and communications Minister was a ploy to deceive the anti Akunyili elements who are bent on fraustrating her coming back. "Let me assure you that Madam's name will be on the final list", an Obasanjo insider volunteered to chidi opara reports in Abeokuta yesterday.

Our checks in the South-east have also revealed that governors from the region where the former Minister hail from, are opposed to her coming back. They, according to unconfirmed information at our disposal  are accusing her of being too independent minded.

Na wa o. Must she be in government by force. Now I believe the allegation of late Adedibu that Dora came to beg her for ministerial appointment. This level of desperation is nauseating. Dora has totally lost a fan in me. She is just another PDP politician after all.

Dora did well in NAFDAC, She got badly tainted in Ministry of Information but found her voice when it mattered most.Jonathan will definiely reward her steadfastness and loyalty in the face of emasculation.
She will definitely make the quote,

How can anybody justify evil, even if it comes from jesus's mouth? She was representing an illegitimate  government so whatever she says or do is a taboo.

Their kind of propaganda is like that of the nazi germany, representing immortal evil but trying to smoosh it with sweet rubbish talk, just because they can yarn.

I love Dora Akunyili but the reality is that nobody's job is guaranteed and even Dora should tell you this.

If she is not reappointed, she should kindly come back home.

Its up to Jonathan to appoint who he likes, he is the C-in-C.

Nuhu Ribadu was sacked, demoted and forced on exile at the prime of his career so it will be nothing new for any choices to be made whether you view it as good or bad.

If she is not re-appointed she should take the next available transport and head to Agulu.

No Minister will remain in office forever. Nigerians should get over triumphalist attitudes and politics of who is up and who is down.

Either way, the Technocrat turned Political Animal has vindicated herself with her single "one man riot" clamour for transfer of power to Acting President Goodluck Jonathan.

We are grateful for her gesture but sooner or later one must take a bow. Whether she returns or not, she has vindicated herself for standing for the truth, when it mattered the most. wink

The woman talks too much, where does she think she is, has she not grown out of that secondary school play ground mentality, playing ten-ten with what transpired within the cabinet is not what I will particulally call heroic.

I see her utterances as a lip service and playing to the gallery, maybe to win favours from Jonathan, obviously that kind of attitude and misdeamanor will not be to everyone's taste. Discarding one of the fundermental principles of any goverment, the principle of collective responsibility is not to be glorified to say the least.

It is understandable if she is no more in the cabinet when she gave that busy-body interview.

I believe she has rendered enough service to the nation. It is good if she be in the next cabinet. However, nothing spoils if she is dropped. I am convinced that Dora Akunyili has left her footprints in the sands of time, and in deed, only time will vindicate her. Well done sister!

I bet u that if she is not among d new ministers then probably she is being considered for EFCC or INEC chairman atleast to silence people esp d anti- jonathan most esp d governors who are becoming more powerful by d day and d likes of Aliyu Gusau in his to run 4 president in 2011! Jonathan will be stupid to leave her out esp in strategic position.

"Speculative Chidi" is writing rubbish!

For the singular act that her courage to stand up to illegality instigated the political solution we have today is enough to get her back. Jonathan is just seeking more support and courage with the people around him, as we all know nothing meaningful can be achieved by anyone within the spate of time they have. Who else does he need other than Dora? She might have said too much sometimes, but someof what she has said has saved us today.

"Chidi Okpara" eat your heart out, Dora is coming bk! tongue
