Spot on... The Igbos refused to blend with rapid modernization of movie industry. Advently they are still leaving in the premodial ways of acting. Technically, you watch their movies and you could relate with the products made in Aba market... Poor scripting, poor plotting and poor cinematography... However, the case is different with the Yoruba's movies like they are so real and connecting every nexus of reality! The paradigm shift from Igbos to Yoruba is nothing but financial, time and technological investment. Ultimately, their is no comparison and I wish the Igbos could step up their game.

Alade seemingly made the first VHS movie, though contested by big Abass, that he is the one. Making the first VHS movie is different from who originated Nollywood. These people. Only God knows what Yoruba took from them. There are hausas, Ijaw, itsekiri, urhobo, ibibio etc but they must always involve Yoruba in their one-sided pitiable narrative. Every Nigerian knows or have heard that Nollywood,which was stage play,drama,cinematography,recorded into cassettes or what have you and now streaming et al was started by the Yoruba far back in the 60s.It just metamorphosized and Igbos played their part.
Igbos joined around the 80s or 90s,so it got more spread then Hausa joined.

There's no point of regionalism. The country should just split into the regions. SW go with their IGR. The North with their Agric. SS with their oil. The igbos with whatever it is they have.

It’s a known fact that entertainment industry in Nigeria both music and movies originated and founded by Yoruba and southwest

the other day it was techno crying and here they are again shedding tears while also in a desperate attempt to rewrite history and always claiming glory of other peoples achievements. Yorubas have always been the pioneers of the movie and entertainment industries and they will always continue to play catch up. When we tell them that we have always been 10steps ahead of them and we no be anybody mate for this obodo naija no be by noise because Ariwo ko ni music…..they always see us being in competition with them but we no Dey see dem…..indeed Yoruba lagba

The yorubas up'd their games by producing classy movies (though they still need ta up the story lines) by classy producers like Afolayan and real classy "jenifa" Funke Akindele and they made use of basically some unknown but classy actors and actresses....they moved from their regular ngbantiwood style of Baba oloro soro,Baba suwe sope,babalawo this and talkative noise making Adekola that to real classy stuff and productions while the eastern producers still continued with their village format and dibia aki and pawpaw and local village background soundtrack style,that's past,mehnnn...

Anyways,there's still huge huge rooms for improvement.... especially on storylines
