cyberguy72:Doesn't matter, no funds to pay for susbdiy whether we like it or not. Subsidy has to cover the costs of production and profit margins of the petroleum industry for it to work . Previous experience has shown that it cannot do that. |

nairalanda1:Same Okonjo Iweala stated explicitly that economic reforms like this mean nothing if the ordinary citizens are suffering. . Do you take her for your Oyedele abi other yeye medicores currently serving in this administration? Quit the propaganda, this boy. Won't work on hungry people. |

cyberguy72:At the expense of salaries not being paid meaning states would have to borrow to pay salaries. And many projects won't be finished neither |

| Re: Dangote Hikes Petrol Price Three Times In Eight Days by nairalanda1(m): 10:42am On Aug 30 |
Rayjay45:It's.not a matter of propaganda, it's a matter of accepting the cold reality that a subsidy cannot cover the production and margin costs of the industry adequately without massive borrowing . That is why Tinubu was wrong to pay subsidy of 20 trillion naira to NNPC. that's borrowed money spent on propping up the company . The best Atiku can do should he win is to revive NNPC old fuel pipelines and connect Dangote refinery to it so that fuel can be pumped across the nation , reducing transport costs well well. Also, we are getting some more refineries since the cost of domestic refining now makes sense in a subsidy absent environment. That means more jobs and more improvement in the lives of the masses. Subsidy would just lead to.danogte refinery becoming trash and people losing jobs. And a hefty debt bill |
| Re: Dangote Hikes Petrol Price Three Times In Eight Days by nairalanda1(m): 10:44am On Aug 30 |
cyberguy72:Again , subsidy would have to adequately cover production costs and profit margins effectively and it would have to be adjusted as time goes on, otherwise scarcity and degradation of our refineries woild.result. And borrowing would commence to pay for the thing. Because there is no way you can do that in the real world. And we are not Saudi or libya |

| Re: Dangote Hikes Petrol Price Three Times In Eight Days by Mandate1: 10:59am On Aug 30 |
Okonsbecky:we all keep talking about Dangote price like he unilaterally increased the price. The FG is selling raw crude to Dangote using the global price. How on earth do you expect Dangote to sell cheaper? Dangote can only sell cheaper if the govt reduces the price it sells raw crude to Dangote. |
| Re: Dangote Hikes Petrol Price Three Times In Eight Days by nairalanda1(m): 11:01am On Aug 30 |
dododawa1:If you were not there , you would not be criticising Dangote . Simple and short. A business has to.charge the price that would.enable it pay for production costs and running costs and also.staff.salaries and wages Your abusing Dangote does not change that fact. If the subsidy had gone in 2012 by now there would be more refineries . But from your comment you backed it's retention then and you want it back even now |
| Re: Dangote Hikes Petrol Price Three Times In Eight Days by nairalanda1(m): 11:04am On Aug 30 |
Rayjay45:A vital part of any country's economic reform is the allowing of businesses to charge market price for their products That is how China went from third world to first world. Reform is not dashing people free money or having the state control prices. It's about the government making the economy productive and growing. From your comment it seems you believe APC is doing that, since you think I am supporting them. |

It's a business, not charity! Hold your government accountable! |
| Re: Dangote Hikes Petrol Price Three Times In Eight Days by 234GT(m): 11:08am On Aug 30 |
blackslayer:There is no need holding this government accountable again. We will survive till January when the government will be voted out, and endure till May 29, 2027, when subsidy will return. |
| Re: Dangote Hikes Petrol Price Three Times In Eight Days by nairalanda1(m): 11:09am On Aug 30 |
dododawa1:Dangote is running a monopoly because in 2012 most of us refused to let the then goverment remove subsidy There were over 60 people.ready to start refineries back then, even the government was planning three new greenfield refineries. Had subsidy gone, domestic refining would have made economic sense meaning banks would have been willing to lend money for refinery projects and construction . But subsidy did not go, leaving Dangote, who had the kind of collateral that banks love, the only one able to attract funding in from of loans and grants to his refinery. None of the other licences had that kind of collateral. See why opposing subsidy removal in 2012 was wrong. And the APC supporters who did most of the mobilzing back then now deny it. |
| Re: Dangote Hikes Petrol Price Three Times In Eight Days by nairalanda1(m): 11:14am On Aug 30 |
234GT:Subsidy is not coming back in 2027 when APC goes Because the new government is going to have to borrow to fund the subsidy . Oil revenues are too low to fund the budget meaning that borrowing is what funds most of the budget. Most of those loans are given with the idea that we would not jeopardise our credit rating by returning subsidy. Plus many states can now pay their salaries regularly without borrowing . A return on subsidy would mean they cannot pay salaries. And then there is the resulting debt . I hope Tinubu loses;but I don't want to see a susbsidy. Obi is promising that he would use subsidy savings for targeted spending on the vulnerable which makes sense to me and has even been advised by economists |

Emmy000seun:Naira to crude was not going to make fuel cheaper. I was laughing at APC supporters who were saying that it would. It was the biggest self deceit I ever did see from emilokan production stables. Saying that something costs one dollar and then saying it costs 1430 naira is basically saying the same thing in terms of value. It does not mean that now I am pricing it in naira it would become cheaper! |

nairalanda1:So, you think after deducting the taxes they don't have more than enough to spare for foods and savings. I hope you know that their net salaries for the month can feed about ten families in Nigeria. Many of those Nigerians you quoted have huge family responsibilities to deal with both home and abroad, courtesy of the APC-administrations of HARDSHIP imposed on us right from Buhari up to Tinubu. See enh it's easier for an average worker over there to release 500k than an average worker here in Nigeria. Now, let's analyse the situation in Nigeria. How far do you think 70k can last in this current administration where cost of almost everything has gone up with a sharp increase? Minimum wage earners cant even afford a decent meal, three times a day for the whole month, talk more of the cost of providing other basic amenities like electricity, water, healthcare etc They literally have no money left to save. It's a situation of hand-to-mouth in Nigeria. Let me not mention the huge debt from loans that many of these workers are constantly battling with. Pls stop allowing ursef to be deceived by our corrupt leaders. Life here in Nigeria is very hard for the majority of masses, many of whom are not even employed to receive this so-called peanut of a minimum slave-wage. These corrupt politicians and their families are the only entities enjoying life in Nigeria at the expense of tax payers money. And until the masses rise against this corrupt leaders, the country will remain in this mess, if not even worse. Unfortunately, the corrupt leaders have started using divide and rule tactics on the masses to the extent that people like Helinus, Yarimo, etc now feel compelled to speak in favour of the government against the masses just to maintain their 30k peanuts. They hail these criminals that steal our resources and embezzle tax payers money. One day, these evil politicians will meet their Waterloo and get their cursed kleptomaniac hands cut off our treasury. That will mark the beginning of revolution in Nigeria. |

cutefy:Actually after the deductions, the money can not feed up to five people in the USA easily. Result many Americans grumble about suffering That is why you have to vote out APC and vote a government that would enable Nigeria to be like the USA. not one that dashes you free money that has to be paid for by debt. |
