The political landscape in Kano State is witnessing another major realignment as former Deputy Governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial candidate, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, is reportedly preparing to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Politics Nigeria understands that the development followed a solidarity visit by members of Gawuna’s political camp to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his deputy, Murtala Sule Garo, amid consultations over their anticipated move to the APC.

The delegation’s visit was disclosed in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Tuesday.

The news is fake, but Obidients should realise that if Kwankwaso was eager to remove Abba Kabir from power, he would have fielded Gawuna instead of giving the ticket to Gwazo with his own son as deputy. On Kwankwaso's request, Tinubu took the Kano APC structure from Ganduje and Barau and handed it over to a newly defected Abba from Kwankwaso's camp. This is after humiliating Ganduje out of office as Chairman. It is naivety to think he did this out of the blues.

Putting Peter Obi as the top of the party's presidential ticket when the usual born to rule conservative northern elites wants back power in the north by all means has even made things worse.

So, leave Tinubu out of NDC's problem in Kano. Both NDC and your ADC are badly damaged vehicles that can go no where.

So which is it? If the born to rule that gave Tinubu 65% of his votes in 2023 suddenly wants power back by all means, why then are you projecting that Tinubu will win Kano? The North wanted power back by all means, yet, Tinubu could only win 4 Yoruba states out of 17 Southern states. How then did he become president? Where did his votes come from? Ingratitude!

They also understand the economic challenges of the country and the tough decisions that government need to take to rescue the country from total economic collapse.
