I Give It To This Lady Ayo Mairo Ese, He Dealt With Lere Olayinka Today On Arise

When Lere Olayinka said he won't answer questions from Rufai Oseni, the lady cut him to size and yanked him off air

This morning on Arise TV, Rufai Oseni asked Wike’s media aide Lere Olayinka a question. Instead of answering, the aide dismissed Rufai as not a reasonable human being.

Ayo Mairo cut in at once, told him to stop the insult, and said if he would not take the question, the interview should end.

I was actually invested in the interview but the Lere guy came with talks of he wants to be asked questions by Ayo and Dr. Abati only.

Ayo had to let him know that won’t be possible.

A riffraff was questioned on the hypocritical selective anti-corruption fight of the party & government he subserves, then he became evasive by giving silly excuses. Such shamelessness with defiant arrogance. This is their trademark in the APC

Let me enlighten your likes and those who wants to know their right on the future...

Between Lere Olayinka and Rufai Oseni:
Does A Guest Have The right to choose whom to engage with?

The Morning Show on Arise News witnessed a dramatic moment when Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and New Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, declined to take questions from co-anchor Rufai Oseni.

A section of the online media has framed the station's decision to discontinue the interview as 'a blow to Olayinka'.

It was not.

This was a spokesperson taking a decisive stance live on air against being subjected to an anchor who had previously engaged him in a antagonistic manner.

Does a guest have the right to choose whom to engage with ? Absolutely.

A guest appearing on radio, television or print media retains the ultimate right to determine where and with whom they engage.

When an interviewer is widely perceived as combative, partisan or has the reputation of undermining guests rather than facilitating constructive dialogue, public figures and their representatives are fully within their rights to refuse questioning from that specific individual or to decline the platform altogether.

I just want everyone here to enlighten the public on their rights.

Lere was the hero of that session. So Rufai can call people names but politicians can't call him names?esp when it's thier turf?
I love that Lere did it in person not through X or other platforms. Technically Ayo didnt end the interview, Lere did!
I encourage every guest to tow that line. Were là fin wo were!
I watched the interview of Rufai with Adebayo of SDP, and i felt sorry for the man with the condescending language from an OAP. His response was I will not dignify your premise with a response, but will focus on the other question!

You are not ready yet. There is a host, there's a guest. If you don't want to answer your host, you can take your leave and go the way Trump did in his interview.

I think he should have ignored that stupid question because whats his business with APC campaign council---his principal is still a member of PDP.

I agree with you on SDP and Adebayo focused on the issue properly. Lere on the other hand said I will only talk to human beings. E never ready yet, he made a fool of himself. If you don't want to go to a host's place, don't honor their invitation. That's how Festus wanted to teach journalists their job. Had Rufai misbehaved first, I will be the first to call it out but they asked you question, you did not answer, you brought your agbero fight to the studio when you could have used that question to shut him down. You never ready

Nah. Lere went there to pass his message across and did it effectively, in person! He also mentioned the statement to which he was responding (i.e his subject of offense), a jounalist calling someone gbewudani. All he did was to drag rufai out to the political arena since rufai is toying with that!
I enjoyed it.

Was that discussed today? Did Rufai mention gbewudani before he asked his question? I want to know. Please correct me, I may be wrong. I watched the interview today and want to confirm if that topic was what they discussed. If Rufai didn't mention it and Lere brought it up, then it is Lere's fault for bringing it there. Also, is gbewudani a word addressed to Lere? Why will you take another man's insult? Thank you.

Imagine if one Gen Z female journalist attends the show and says because Reuben in the past refused to be called by name, she will not answer his questions, is that not offside? Maybe I will stop watching Abati since he talks down to users of cheap mobile phones who have data to type 🤡

Oh you got it twisted. Lere was invited for a right of reply (he probably asked for it) coz Wike was mentioned in that interview (as Abati alluded). Also, the gbewudani, unprofessional language, was used on the candidate of PDP, Lere's party. So Lere is qualified to react and refer to previous comment.
Also if you looked historically, it is the second time this will happen. Abati yabbed Wike, Lere came for right of reply and yabbed Abati and Rufai (though Abati was on leave). When Abati came back he also promised to deal with Lere.
These charade happen when journalists drag themselves into politicking arena!

Lere is representing Mr Wike, except I am ignorant, I don't think PDP appointed him as spokesman to the party for their presidential campaign. He took it personal by saying he won't respond to some people who he does not consider human beings. As an older person, years of long life should have given him a better opportunity to take Rufai to the cleaners. E suppose don pass that stage of drama abi you no see am like that?

About Abati yabbing Wike, you didn't mention what Rufai did. He defended Abati, his colleague in his absence. I am looking at it from the 4th estate of the realm, if we are not careful, these politicians will rubbish 1000% the little we have of journalistic independence.

I am not a one way person. In fact, let me look for one of my comments for Rufai
SixSeven:
Otitoju, live up to your name. Your principal should be speaking to the Press. He should be answering questions about his administration. He should be giving us updates. Tell your boss the truth. I have no business with Bwala and I have already written about it here. Even Otitoju cannot stand Arise for instance because on the TVC show, he dominates the conversation and the anchors don't want to offend their boss. They had to create a special show for him and he is always interrupting others. See I give Mehdi Hasan a gold medal. If he has also not been on the hot seat, I would have said this one na all these shouting journalists but Hasan has been on Piers Morgan, he has been on Jubilee show against 20 Conservatives for 1hr 40mins, he has been on various shows where his opponents don't like him and he can defend himself. Can you guys do that? You all want soft landing and always use age to cry victim. This is why I insist that the likes of Rufai have their nuisance value. You guys, if you can stand your own ground even in your enemies camp, na man you be. Anything else means you want soft landing and you are only paper tigers. This is a distraction, I didn't vote for Bwala.

Let us stop deflecting from the elephant in the room. Bwala is not to blame. Tinubu is the one who has questions to answers, not his ministers, not his aides, not his SAs, not his hired journalists. You guys were so ready to bash PDP then, and I think this was what made Jonathan to stop doing the presidential media chat because you were always ready to pick holes but look at you now. Guys, I want to ask you a question, if you are in a relationship with a girl for 8 years and she only speaks to you once or twice in that 8 years, do you know the direction of that relationship? That's how your relationship with APC is, they did this for 8 years. I can count the number of times Buhari talked about national issues and the direction the country and his administration was going. When Arise got to speak to him, they called the interview EXCLUSIVE o For your own President undecided

This was how they sold Buhari's silence to you for 8 years (they were trying to mystify him but you all saw the incompetence and the old man was dealing with his health) and if this continues, they will deify the Presidency for you Nigerians when the number 1 should be answering questions and be kept on his toes. Nigerians deserve to hear updates from their own President, not spokesperson. He should go to the enemies camp. Even Trump is bold enough to answer questions from the press as much as he doesn't like the Democrats or left leaning press. I have more words from Mark Carney, the Canadian leader from interviews, or speeches than I have heard from my own president. If I remember well, the Canadian guy came in after Tinubu so what are we talking about. Putin sef de do interview. Wetin be this. Is Mr Tinubu weak? Are you trying to sell cowardice and making it look like he is a god? What a shame APC

Aísáyà Yesufu can respond when PO is yabbed, Baba galadima can respond when NDC is insulted but Lere shouldn't until when he is appointed? What logic is this?
You are holding Lere to a higher moral code coz of age but are evasive when it comes to journalist ethical code. It is called arrogance of the mic or media.
Who cares if one defended the other! Question is should the offence come in the first place?
You insult a politician, they insult you back, you're having headache. What sort of logic is this? Its like you dont watch politicans at the house of Commons. Its tit for tat!
Support your Rufai in peace but dont claim there was no offense, and dont blame the response.

Same Lere said on that same show that Sandy Onor was not running to win but just to register his presence. Yet in same show he's displaying his angst at someone calling same Sandy Onor gbewudani. What's the difference in both characterisation?
If you can blatantly say he's not running to win why are you angry that he's called gbewudani?

Lere Olayinka is a very immature personality!

Was he not the one who accepted to be on the show when ARISE TELEVISION extended an invitation to him? Why didn't he give them the condition that he would not be answering any question from Rufai Oseni beforehand, so that they would know whether to proceed with having him as one of their guests on the Morning Show or not?

I believe he accepted to be on the programme just to bully Arise journalists, simply because he is an "aide" to a minister; and I so like Mairo for shutting him off!

Who da bleep does he think he is?
