Spy360:This daily wailing no dey tire you my bro? You're just wasting your time. If Nigerians wanted the status quo to change, they would've stopped selling their votes a long time ago, but they haven't, that should tell you they don't want the current system to be changed. Even in the recent anambra gubernatorial elections, the electorate sold their votes for malt and 2k naira. You think people like that will allow you usher in a new system? Unfortunately, they constitute the majority of the voting population in this country. |

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by mikuz(m): 1:33pm On Sep 08 |
TemporaryHansel:It's not like they don't want to change the status quo. If people believe their votes will not be counted or will not change the outcome, they may reasonably ask themselves why they should reject money for a vote that they believe will make no difference. |

TemporaryHansel:If your observation is true, then what is the point of being against Polygamy. Egbon gloriousgbola, iamoyindamola, treblechamp do the needful |

mikuz:Then stay at home and don't vote. This is actually a lazy defense for people selling their votes. |

raumdeuter:Tbh, all the married men I know cheat. The ironic thing is how aggressively married people pressure others to join the institution, making you think they actually hold it sacred. While faithful husbands obviously exist, they are a rare minority, if you check 100 married men, you'd find out only 1 is faithful to his wife, it's that bad. But they threaten fire & brimstone when they catch their wives cheating, just like Frank Edoho was wailing about Chike fvcking his wife, meanwhile he's a serial cheat himself. I don't know if it's just me, but I belong to the school of thought of it's better not to get married, than to get married and not be committed. What's the point of the marriage if you don't want to commit to that person? People allow societal pressure, or should I say peer pressure, "others are doing, so I must also do" , make them rush into marriage, only to start cheating with reckless abandon. It's disgusting. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by TemporaryHansel(m): 2:55pm On Sep 08 |
Kimbeast:Thanks for responding to him. There's absolutely no excuse for selling your votes. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by mikuz(m): 2:56pm On Sep 08 |
Kimbeast:The govt in power has too much influence over the people who conduct the elections and even the courts that handle election disputes. Until this issue is fixed, people have good reasons to doubt whether their votes will really make a difference. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by mikuz(m): 3:07pm On Sep 08 |
TemporaryHansel:I'm not making excuses for selling votes or saying it is right. I'm explaining why it will continue until the problem is fixed. If somwone is extremely poor and is offered money for vote they genuinely believe will not count, simply telling them "Never take the money" can sound disconnected from reality. You cannot properly tackle a problem without first understanding its root cause. If you want to stop vote selling, we need to understand why people are selling their votes in the first place. Simply telling people not to sell their votes does not address the issue. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Spy360(m): 3:18pm On Sep 08 |
TemporaryHansel:I am not against selling of votes. What I am against is any one saying that Tinubu is OK |

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Akinlot: 5:03pm On Sep 08 |
raumdeuter:Most Nigerian women tolerate their husbands cheating. They don't necessarily like it but they are able to live with it. Its only on social media I see women who threaten to leave if their husbands cheat. In reality, they almost never leave especially when kids are involved. Polygamy on the other hand is a different ball game. Except you're very rich or a muslim, most of them will never tolerate polygamy. So if your marriage means anything to you, understand that polygamy will almost certainly destroy it. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 5:11pm On Sep 08 |
Akinlot:I have seen multiple women tolerate polygamy tho. The hard reality is that in Nigeria women don't have that many options so they suck it up. Also why so many marriages scatter when couples move abroad where women are empowered and don't have to tolerate anything. |

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 5:28pm On Sep 08 |
Akinlot:There are 3 parties here The husband the wife and the sidechic The sidechic - Especially as they grow older Will prefer to be a legal 2nd wife, get full benefits of the relationship, As sidechic, she cant even get pregnant openly and have kids for the man even though she is servicing the man, She cant be seen outside with the man. SO she is burning the remaining part of her youth for a man that can discard her at any time without anything to hang onto The wife - She prefers to be the only legal one for obvious reasons. Though she will prefer the husband not to have a side, but if he has a side, as long as she isn't legalized or have a baby into the mix that will compete for the husbands resources. No woman will want their husband to have a side, never mind marrying legally. They will do anything possible to avoid that The husband - Gets the best of both world, he gets the benefit from the sidechic and no long term commitment. Your forefathers would have married these sidechics and provided for them long term but nowadays you show up as 1 wife but have multiple woman servicing you |

raumdeuter:Tinubu is currently making it difficult to wife her? If economy improve i will do the needful... |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Akinlot: 5:42pm On Sep 08 |
GloriousGbola:True to a large extent. Compared to knowing the husband has a side chick, polygamy is still a much steeper hill to climb for most Nigerian women. Even for those who are muslims. |
