I've a vehicle that was last renewed 2013, it's a Lagos registered vehicle but used in the north.

Yes for Vehicle Licence: you will pay all outstanding years, but not at all for other papers

Why do you think you have to for pay for the years you have not been using it? It doesn't make sense to pay for the renewal of a car you don't use on the road but since we pay for electricity we don't get and when the transformer gets spoilt we still pay to fix it and yet it is not our property i guess you think it is ok

So bro you only pay to renew it when you intend to use it and that applys for a parked vehicle on the road nobody should be asking you to show papers of a parked car as long as it is not parked on a no parking or no loitering space.

For the vehicle license (autoreg), you will pay for all the years missed.
But for the insurance & road worthiness, you just pay for the current year.

which kind dmb question is this, you want to go and tell them you want to pay for 10years of parking the car right? Some people self, simply go renew your paper for one year, if Lagos wants to exploit you, go to any other states and renew your paper with less than #20k and close your mouth, by the time you go there asking bull and cock questions, you will give them room to exploit you well

The guy is correct. All years you did not renew would be paid for as far v. license is concerned. Others N/A.

Some days I leave it for them when stopped, it has no key and I alone can start it.

I sold a car few years ago, I only registered just to sell and it was for the current year.

Since you are not the previous owner, why not get a new number and start afesh

You would make payment for each year missed for the vehicle licence (Autoreg) only. For insurance, ROAD Worthiness Cert. You would pay the current year only

Just renew normally. No of yrs of not used does not count

No renew for Lagos oh. Send documents to another

Simply register the vehicle as a new one. Case closed. But if payment for all previous years is cheaper, then go for it.

A feedback and personal experience regarding the VL renewal issue. I needed not pay for the years the vehicle was parked, i was made to understand that i would have been compelled to pay for all ellapsed years if i was caught driving the vehicle with the expired licence.
As regards the Roadworthiness Certificate, the vehicle needed to be physically inspected at my chosen Vehicle Inspection Service Center. It inperetive to go to the centre first to obtain a notice in lieu of the RWC.
The comprehensive inspection itsself is free of charge, its only the RWC and proof of ownership certificate that will be paid for. Lagos state does not accept the RWC of other states.
