Russian aircrafts are far behind US and European models, especially passenger aircrafts, in terms of quality and safety.

Yet the ones with more quality keeps crashing more than the inferior ones.

A country at war is still supplying planes and the likes. Wow! That is what you call a developed country.

Read and digest the fact below

Accident rate relative to flights (the more meaningful comparison): Here Russia comes out clearly worse. These raw statistics don't mean air travel in the US is less safe — more accidents naturally occur where more flights take place, and the US has the busiest commercial flight schedule in the world. When you normalize for traffic volume, Russia and the former Soviet republics combined have had the world's worst air-traffic safety records, with a total accident rate almost three times the world average as of 2011.

US planes are over 20 times more than Russia plans, who will have more crashes?

Rusia has the worst safety and quality records in terms of proportion to total flights

An industry in trouble
These days, many airframes in Russia are sitting nearly abandoned across the country. A sector heavily impacted by sanctions, the commercial aviation industry has not been able to import crucial Western components for over three years, making these planes unsafe to use.

In a country as large as Russia, flying is often the only option to reach more far-flung regions, and airlines have evolved in an attempt to maintain services.

Some companies have been able to keep their fleets up to date by smuggling parts into the country. The government has paid billions of rubles in subsidies for aircraft manufacturing and keeping airlines afloat and to buy formerly leased planes. And in 2023, authorities legalized stripping aircraft for parts, a process crudely referred to as “cannibalization.”

Yet the conditions of Russia’s commercial aviation fleet are so dire that officials expect to retire more than 300 airplanes and 200 helicopters in the coming years, Dmitry Yadrov, the head of the Federal Agency for Air Transport, said this month. Nearly 30% of Western-made jets could be grounded by 2030.

At a meeting of the International Civil Aviation Organization last month, Russian authorities pleaded with Western counterparts for sanctions relief on Western aircraft components, reportedly framing the issue as a matter of safety.

Now, officials are doubtful they can continue patching over the issue, according to Harris, who is writing a book on Russia’s flag carrier Aeroflot.

Your own problem na ENVY.

US has more crashes than Russia yet you find a way to twist that fact.

Okay commercial aircrafts aside, what about military aircrafts? Why does US military aircrafts crash more since they're superior?

And do you know that the US is only able to use 30% of its air fleets at any given time? Yeah it's that bad.

Lol! You guys are deluded? Innoson is a glorified, low-grade car assembly plant. Most of their parts are imported as semi or full knocked down parts from China. Even China with enormous industrial capability and know-how are still struggling to have commercial jet engine made, Nigeria has no hope in building one.

They both have their strengths

US military aircraft are generally considered technologically superior due to more advanced stealth design, superior microelectronics and radar power efficiency, and vast industrial funding. However, Russian aircraft excel in raw aerodynamic maneuverability, rugged mechanical design, and self-sufficiency for operations in remote area
Then there is this quote from Quora..based on comments from a russian who flew both US and Russian millitary aircraft

After the 1970s, Russian fighters relative to their western counterparts were:

very rugged
had exceptional aerodynamic capability
more manoeuvrable
had better thrust to weight ratios (often)
developed the HMCS (helmet mounted cueing system that the West only very recently devolved)
So what’s going on? This all looks quite impressive, so how are they actually falling behind?

The answer, is that the US fighters over the same period had:

unprecedented EW (electronic warfare) and jamming capabilities
developed BVR (beyond visual range) air to air missiles
worked out superior stealth designs to cheat enemy radars
had vastly superior AWACS (airborne warning and control systems) support
had a much more reliable, integrated air attack capability
So in an actual war, US aircraft would win.

You don't put it aside, The Indians ordered passenger aircrafts, and the Russians have the worst of such aircrafts in the world. That is point. Boeing and airbus are light years ahead russian productions in safety records. And the sanctions have made russian aircrafts flying coffins, and most of the accidents go unreported due to Moscow control. Do your findings

Innoson is trying, but tranistioning from building cars to planes is not as easy as it looks.

Off the top of my head, SAAB is the only company I know that did that. Maybe Mitsubishi...though they keep their aircraft and car divisions separate.

SAAB even had issues for some times building cars (try to imagine an aircraft engineer designing a car, the result is a car with some funny features inside).

1. India and Russia are tight, they go way back for decades.

2. Russian passenger planes are not as good as Boeing and Airbus. Even Aeroflot, the Russian flag carrier, has more Airbuses and Boeings in their fleet compared to Tupolevs and Yakolevs.,,through thanks to sanctions, they would be ordering more Russian planes from next year.

3, Also, on the technical side ...here is why Airbus better pass russian plane (I am an Airbus fanboy, boeing get wahala sometimes)

Technology and Fuel Efficiency

Heavy designs: Russian wide-body and medium-haul lines (like the Ilyushin Il-96) often rely on older, heavier structural layouts or four-engine configurations instead of modern lightweight, twin-engine composite designs.

Engine performance: Russian turbofan engines typically burn more fuel and require more frequent servicing than advanced Western equivalents.

Production and Economics

Low production volume: Russia builds only a handful of commercial jets a year compared to Airbus's high-rate assembly lines, driving up per-unit manufacturing costs.

Support and parts: Global airlines prefer Airbus because of worldwide parts availability, rich safety analytics, and standardized support networks that Russian domestic aircraft lack

Bitter leaf.

Come and wipe off this statistic that's everywhere on the web let's see.

No matter how you spin it.

This US holds the worst record in the world in both Commercial and Military aircraft crashes and mishaps.

I cannot count the number of mid flight mishaps that happened last month alone in the US. From bursting tires to burning engines to cracked windshield to mid air collision.

Thousands yearly. If you make me angry I'll begin posting them daily on Nairaland and tagging you on every post.

Bottom line:
Highest total crash count: US (due to sheer flight volume)
Highest crash rate per flight: Russia, by a wide margin
