Onoh Asks Wike To Join APC Or Step Aside by robosky02(op): 10:16am On Sep 13
Former South-East spokesman to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Denge Josef Onoh, has urged Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to formally join the All Progressives Congress, APC, or step aside from the party’s affairs.

Onoh, who is also Chairman of the Forum of Former Members of the Enugu State House of Assembly, described the political alignment being promoted by Wike as a “Rainbow Coalition” and warned that it could undermine the APC ahead of the 2027 general election.

In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja, Onoh described the coalition as a “Trojan horse” capable of creating divisions within the ruling party.

He said: “This so-called ‘Rainbow Coalition’ is a toxic distraction, a political mirage, and a well-calculated vehicle for personal ambition that will ultimately undermine the All Progressives Congress and jeopardise the presidential election if left unchecked.”

According to Onoh, the coalition did not represent a unified political bloc capable of delivering significant votes to President Tinubu outside Rivers State.

He argued that Wike’s political influence was largely concentrated in Rivers State and questioned attempts to replicate what he described as a “fractured blueprint” across other geopolitical zones.

‘Rainbow Coalition not 2023 G5’
Onoh also rejected comparisons between the current political alignment and the G5 governors’ alliance that emerged ahead of the 2023 elections.

He said the G5 was built around regional equity and involved five serving governors with control of state political structures.

Onoh recalled his involvement in efforts to promote the APC in the South-East while working with former Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, saying the political realignments came at a cost to some of the actors iinvolved

“Today, Wike’s new ‘Rainbow Coalition’ has completely crumbled from that standard. It is not an alliance of powerful state executives; it is a desperate collection of political castaways, disgruntled ex-office holders, and floating political contractors who hold no real electoral value in their own political wards,” he said.

Onoh said attempts to use such a structure to influence the 2027 election could be counterproductive.

Attacks on APC governors
Reacting to Wike’s recent political disagreements with Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Onoh described the disputes as a “diversionary tactic.”

He alleged that Wike was creating political tension in the North-Central and South-East as part of an attempt to weaken APC structures.

“By attacking highly respected APC governors who are the authentic custodians of the party’s grassroots votes, Wike is actively sowing the same seeds of discord that he used to tear the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) apart,” Onoh said.

He alleged that Wike was attempting to influence the APC from within using what he described as the same political strategy that contributed to divisions in the PDP.

Onoh warns against ‘split-ticket’ voting
Onoh also criticised what he described as the promotion of cross-party voting, warning that such a strategy could weaken the APC’s parliamentary strength.

He argued that presidential and National Assembly elections were held concurrently and that encouraging voters to support the APC at the presidential level while backing opposition candidates in legislative contests could affect the party’s ability to secure a majority.

“We cannot exchange a robust, organic party victory for a transactional arrangement,” he said.

Onoh cited the 2023 elections in Enugu State as an example, claiming that efforts to combine support for different parties at presidential and senatorial levels contributed to losses for the PDP.

He urged APC stakeholders to reject what he described as an attempt to create a parallel political structure within the ruling party.

‘Wike must choose’
Onoh called on Wike to make a clear political choice, arguing that the minister could not maintain what he described as dual political allegiance while seeking to influence the APC’s internal affairs.

“Nigeria’s political space has no room for double agents, political rent-collectors, or part-time allegiance,” he said.

“You cannot have one foot in the PDP, keep the other foot floating in a vague coalition, and expect to dictate the fortunes and internal architecture of the APC.

“Our position is simple: either Nyesom Wike fully, formally and unconditionally registers as a card-carrying member of the APC at his political ward, or he must step aside immediately.”

Onoh said the APC had the structures and grassroots support required to deliver Tinubu across the 36 states without what he described as Wike’s “damaging, self-serving distractions.”

2031 election won't make Wike to officially join Apc as his Pdp rainbow group is for power negotiation most especially for the VP position from 2031. Wike dont have to be on the ballot

Nyesom Wike will scatter APC after the presidential elections. Many APC governors seeking re-election will be undermined by Wike and not even your chorus posts will have anything to do with trying to stop what is coming.

Who gave Onoh this kind power?
See person wey wike handpicked for PDP.

On a serious note ehnn, this Wike pattern of politics in Nigeria will not end well.

OK, he is not APC member but working for Tinubu relection, so this means he doesn't even want the Onoh he handpicked to win the election.
The same thing happening in Rivers State where he handpicked OK Chinda, an APC candidate to win against his own PDP.

Putting legs in two different moving canoes.

This Wike crash go heavy ooo!!!

Meanwhile, Onoh wants to win. I see a court case loading to remove Onoh.

If beggarly Wike betrayed the party that made him from LGA chairman to minister and governor, why would he not betray Tinubu and APC for his own personal ambition, just like the master strategist did to get the job of president?

Wike lobbied PDP committee to be Atiku’s running mate – Ex-gov’ship aspirant

Thu, 29 Sep 2022 14:33:04 WAT

Muazu Magaji, a former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kano State, has alleged that the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, lobbied members of the party’s committee constituted to advise the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on the choice of his running mate.

Magaji disclosed this while speaking on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily, on Thursday.

The Kano politician also argued that there was no proof that Atiku promised Wike the vice president position as claimed.

The PDP committee had recommended the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa; Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel and Wike.

The committee, however, scored Wike above the other two contenders but Atiku decided to settle for Okowa. A decision that has since unsettled Wike’s camp.

Magaji, however, claimed that Wike lobbied to be scored ahead of others, adding that the Rivers State governor should not be trusted with important positions in the country.

2023: PDP and politics of healing Wike’s self-inflicted injury

Then, the race began in earnest for three years now, reaching a frenzy with the works of the two PDP committees on zoning. The first was the Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi committee on the zoning of the PDP party offices. The Ugwuanyi committee quickly told the world the committee’s assignment did not cover zoning the office of the president. Though this was true, the question is: why didn’t the Ugwuanyi committee zone the PDP chairmanship to the North without aligning it to the divide that would produce the PDP presidential flag-bearer? The second committee headed by Gov Samuel Ortom of Benue state was specifically on the zoning of the presidential ticket and, with the votes of the representatives of all the 17 Southern states without any exception, the Committee unanimously recommended throwing open the PDP presidential ticket, which the PDP NEC simply upheld.

One thing irrefutably stands out – Wike shot himself in the leg. Here was a man who had an overarching influence on both committees but could not insist that the ticket be zoned South. Many had wondered why? The reason is also relatively in plain sight: the Southeast factor. As the clamour for zoning of the presidential ticket of the PDP to South reached its crescendo, many had pointed out the fact that though the PDP Constitution had prescribed zoning of the office of the president to be between North and South since the South-west and South-south had taken their turns in producing the president and the vice in this current dispensation in the persons of Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, zoning this time around, should not just be to the South but the Southeast.

Atiku Abubakar went a step further by offering to step down from the race if it would be agreed that the touted zoning to the South would mean micro-zoning to the Southeast. Wike and the rest could not take the Atiku challenge maybe because Atiku would likely back Peter Obi, who was his vice-presidential running mate in 2019 and an ally. The prospects of Peter Obi picking the ticket if PDP zoned South was so real compelling Wike to go for an open contest, believing he could pick it up ahead of Atiku, Tambuwal and Bala Mohammed, given his large war chest.

Says a man who hijacked the party and singlehandedly produced the last 4 National Chairmen of the party for his own selfishness.

Says a man who accepted nomination to be running mate to Fulani Atiku.
He knew it was injustice to give Atiku the ticket yet he lobbied to be the VP.
grin grin

He knew the party had to go South for the 2023 election, yet he still put Secondus as National Chaiman just to hijack the party..
Only to push Secondus out because he wanted the ticket 2023.

This man remains the biggest problem of PDP.

He can only deceive and fool his minions, not reasonable people.
