You see I laugh when people like you who know nothing about an issue jump into a discourse to speak boldly. Seplat shares in 2016 was less than #400 (at some point it was as low as #150), in 2021 it was as low as #750, today it is #14,000 +. What gives you the confidence to make that statement?

Because it is a refinery.
Margins in refining are wafer thin. Too many things can and usually go awry.

The only way to get those lofty dreams is to find additional value through diversification. If the petrochemical and fertilizer plants remain integrated and not spun off into new, independent enterprises. If the exploration (not sure) license he has acquired turns out to be highly productive, then perhaps.

But if it is Dangote Refinery in all it's raw glory....hmmm, better wait and see.

I repeat. The socio-politics around the subsidy question remains a real threat to the business model as it is. If the oil market remains volatile and prices remain highly inflationary the government at some point will have to pay attention in ways and means that the new shareholders will find quite sweaty.

In 2024 Zenith Bank floated public offer for shares valued at N36.50 per share. I refused to invest because FCMB and Fidelity banks dealt with me in 2007 with their shares that later collapsed like Iroko tree.

As I'm typing this piece, Zenith Bank shares is worth over N120. Imagine buying 1,000,000 shares then. By now, I would have made triple of my investment. The risks are there, but one thing that's certain is that investing in Energy stocks is very reliable. It's a must needed commodity.
