The Chinese have economies of scale because they put money together to register a limited liability company and conduct business with it while you guys choose one man business (sole proprietorship).

Thats not what economies of scale is. They have economies of scale because they manufacture the products, use their own ships to import the product, have a stronger currency, lend us money in millions of dollars, already handling several development projects in our country. So they can make loss in the short run from one end, but use the massive profits they make from interest rate on our loans, or payments for their services etc to stay afloat. The average nigerian importer does not have that.

Manufacturing is very very hard in Nigeria terrain due to many factors - bad road, no power or electricity, high loan interest, low manpower quality and output etc.
If it is easier to manufacture, many traders and importers who has made good money from importing would have leveraged on it as another source of income.
