INEC holds by-election in five constituencies today by oluwagbogodada(op): 6:37am On Sep 19
Five legislative seats are up for grabs today as INEC conducts by-elections across Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta.

Voting is expected between 8:30am and 2:30pm, covering Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye, Dawakin Kudu, Disina, Sakwa and Udu constituencies.

With the 2027 elections getting closer, these smaller polls will also attract attention to INEC's logistics, turnout and result management.

Are you in any of the affected constituencies, and what is the situation there this morning?

Another opportunity for the noisy NDC and ADC to show their preparedness towards the next election. I hope it won't be excuses as usual. Fergie001, this should be on live update board.

In 2027 general elections, our votes must count! There are no two ways about it!

Don't allow anyone to discourage you not to come out and exercise your civic responsibility on election day.

The onus is on us as electorates to resist any attempt to rig. The Osun elections have proven that if we protect our votes, rigging may be reduced.

As it happens, the bye election in Kwankwaso's Kano is not fielding an NDC candidate. Neither is an ADC candidate present on the ballot box apparently.

Those two parties have left me speechless but then again, why should anyone be surprised.

Nairaland is suppressing the news from Minna about the death of 37 miners.

I thought this was a free non partisan chat group.

You guys are suppressing the death of 37 miners. Thats the main topic in the whole Nigeria.

Latest developments should be "Front-paged"

Bias reporting of incidence will not be tolerated.

Nigerians all see what you are doing.

In most of this constituencies, ADC and NDC don't have candidates because they know they cannot win hence, they refuse to bring up a candidate. When APC win now in2027 they will be crying rigging.

A party that can't present a candidate at the grassroot and win will be saying that they were rigged out in a National election, si ọ. Sope o tilọ.

So when people die in police costody it is partisan right?
When it happened in the US it's the president that killed them inside the police costody right?
Is it Sowore's or Agulu fake Messiah's party or Asiwaju that killed them?
You are just determined to be wired up on bad news and propaganda as the online instrument to win the upcoming election without any manifestos and political structure. I bet you don't even have party offices in half of the states not to talk of party agents and you want to win?

Osun Elections was an Arrangement between Adekeke and Tinubu...

Keep being aloof at your own peril..

Tinubu wins at the end of the day...

APC will pick most of these. Yet some people will delude themselves on how APC is not electable or cannot win in January.

You have no iota of emotional intelligence. 37 people dying in government custody is not a political issue. Your online derangement syndrome routes everything through the lens of the upcoming elections.

People have lost their lives. 37 human beings were alive, hale and hearty less than 24 hours before they lost their lives in government custody. That alone should be enough to demand answers.

Yet, as of now, no one has been arrested for criminal negligence, manslaughter, or any other offense connected to these deaths.

The President stood before 250 million Nigerians and swore an oath to protect the lives of Nigerians. That oath comes with responsibility. Call it whatever you want, politics, activism, opposition, whatever. The fact remains that the government has a duty to account for what happened to people who died in its custody.

And this is only the beginning. We will bring in Amnesty International, the ICC, and other relevant international organizations. Do you think we are scared of you?

The President has to do his job. He is not a monarch. He is a public servant.

Get that into your head.

Why haven't any arrests been made ?
37 People were murdered in the custody of the government.
And stop calling them “illegal miners.” Illegal under what finding? Where is the evidence? You cannot pronounce a dead person guilty of a crime. The presumption of innocence applies to everyone. If the government alleges that they were engaged in illegal mining, then prove it with evidence. Until then, they are not “illegal miners” simply because they are dead and cannot defend themselves.

And all you say is do what exactly ? Are you even human ?

If that is your understanding then APC would have easily won in Osun, worst still, the home state of the PRESIDENT.

Tinubu would have won in his domain, Lagos.
