When they were destroying buses in Imo and tearing banners in Enugu, they didn't preach restraint.

The writer said stop sponsoring attacks against all opposition, not just Obi.
For the records, I don’t like Obi either as he never proved himself a better administrator in Anambra. However I’d he is the people’s will, don’t subvert it, that is the essence of democracy. If a greater number choose a goat, allow them their right. I support Tinubu’s reforms, only have reservations for his handling it and the resultant hardship. However I’d pick him ahead of Obi but not sure majority Nigerians will.

Politics and violence have been 5&6. While growing up, our parents would even warn us to avoid political rallies because of violence. Here you are trying to make the grownups believe that APC/Tinubu introduces violence into politics. Only those who suffer from herd mentality like yourself would gulp that.

This is a thugs vs thugs fight. Political thuggery or rivalry didn't just start now. And there's no need naming some Obidients & others APC thugs.

While you condemn others', you keep justifying Obidients' violence and harassment.

That it happens in your region doesn't mean it's the same elsewhere

All through Nigerias democratic history, the opposition parties have always been allowed to campaign and contest in elections, even if we end up with results that were flagrantly distorted. In the first and the second Republic, Nnamdi Azikiwe campaigned in the West, while Awolowo campaigned in the North, Sarduana campaigned in the South. In the 90s, MKO Abiola campaigned both in the East and the North, though he was from the Western part of the country, and his rival- Tofa did same in the East and West, though he was from the North.

Since the arrival of democracy in 1999, this country has never witnessed any sort of conflict as it regards a persistent attempt by the rulling party to utilise violence in stopping the opposition from participating fully in the democratic process. As imperfect as our politics has always been, this has not been a main problem. It is only since the arrival of Buhari and Tinubus APC that we started seeing this dangerous practice of thugs and hoodlums openly threatening the voters/opposition with maximum violence.

Since 1999, voters have never been as frightened as they are under this dispensation. Immediately the APC walzed in with their thuggish approach to politics, citizens of this country have been subjected to all sorts anti-democratic assaults. Folks have been bullied, beaten, harassed, and even killed. A notorious thug working for the ruling party, persistently threatened potential voters in Lagos based on ethnic profiling. And in all these, we have heard no noise nor serious reprimand from a comatose presidency. ..

Under Tinubus watch, Nigerians are being openly told that they can not vote in certain regions of the country, just because the overzealous"hosts/accomodators" have decreed so! It has never happened before. Not even during the "democratisation" processes under differnt military administrations. In all these, the utterly stunned security agencies stand with hands akimbo, doing absolutely nothing as the constitution is flagrantly desecrated.

This is a recipe for disaster! Why? Two can play this game. Other aggrieved sections of the country may decide to tow similar paths, and when other sections of the country start to reciprocate with similar behaviour, it might be too late to end the ugly pattern. This reprehensible trend needs to be stopped! Those whose politics are firmly rooted in tribalism, violence and sectionalism, should endevour to spare this country of their odious habits. We all don't see politics as a do or die affair..

The laws are clear; everyone has equal rights to participate in the democratic process in this country. What we have at Abuja is a presidency! It is NOT an "Oba" or an "Oni".. No one is going to be coronated a president of Nigeria! A president of Nigeria must be elected through free and fair elections.. so says the Nigerian constitution. Anything short of this, is a grand disservice to the democratic process and as such must be challenged..

The ruling party should call her wayward wards to order before this ignoble practice becomes the norm across the country, and ultimately unravel the democracy that was hard fought for..

Nobody attacked APC when they were in opposition, you know why? Because they were rugged as opposition. They had their own rugged boys who could fight. So for ADC and NDC, nobody is coming to help you, you have to get your own rugged boys. When they clash with APC thugs, everyone will respect himself next time. The ONLY way it can be confirmed that this administration is not in support of this undemocratic act is if the supposed thugs are publicly punished. That's how others will be discouraged from towing that line. Anything less and they are complicit.
