Lady Records Agbero Demanding ₦50,000 While Moving Mattress In Lagos by Glimpsetv(op): 6:59pm On Sep 19
A lady and her brother were just trying to move a mattress in a minibus across Lagos. A journey that should have taken less than 30 minutes reportedly turned into a frustrating series of demands for money.

At the first stop, an agbero allegedly demanded ₦50,000. Just 3–4 kilometres later, another group reportedly stopped them and demanded payment, with more stops following along the way.

Frustrated by what was happening, the lady began recording the experience, while the overlays on the video repeatedly flashed:

State of Excellence ❌
State of Agbero ✅

But the encounter reportedly became even more tense.

At one point, one of the agberos threatened to collect the lady’s phone and smash it on the ground after noticing that she was recording him. At another location, an agbero reportedly threatened to beat her brother when he questioned the demand for money and refused to comply.

At one point, she also encountered a policewoman who reportedly acknowledged that even police officers sometimes pay these agberos when transporting loads.

The video has since stirred strong reactions online, with many condemning the reported incidents and calling on relevant authorities to intervene. Critics argue that such demands are increasingly being seen as a normal part of moving goods around Lagos.

For many people, the frustration is simple: imagine working hard and saving money to buy a mattress, only to be stopped by people demanding payment before you can transport your own purchase to your home.

What should be an ordinary journey home can quickly become a series of unexpected payments, confrontations and, according to the account in the video, even threats.

Many online commenters are now asking whether this has become an accepted part of doing business on Lagos roads—and calling for the relevant authorities to take action.

I'm not sure Lagos can end that Agberoism anytime soon cos most of those guys don't have any other jobs but that and they keep recruiting more younger folks to join them.

Couple with the fact that the state is making zero effort to stop them.

And the audacity those guys have ennnnh... is second to non.

Then let's divide the country, so everyone can go their separate ways, and also, Niger Delta oil should not be used to service loans collected by the Nigerian government, if that is met every one will go back to their states build their own sea port and create jobs for their people, so sink this into your skull.😊

This is robbery. And Lagos state has integrated this lifestyle as not criminal.
These are the thugs and burdens to society they employ to snatch ballot boxes, that is why they tolerate them.
If you campaign that you will put them all in jail if elected, they will ensure you won't get that office

Oga, let the state do the needful...imagine that nonsense... Tell me the right the agbero has to obtain money from her?

Imagine agbero telling Keke rider to offer him money for passing one way...while other Keke riders were passing freely....Meanwhile the Police are at the other side of the traffic looking at the one way vehicles. Well, I ensured the Keke rider doesn't pay...For my street, for my bus stop that won't happen.
