rabazamba:That was how I went and involved myself in one medical supply contract to Navy Hospital, after the first payment we all used our money to tidy up some loose ends, we were first denied entry into the base and the BABO (Base Accounting and Budgetary Officer) blocked our lines but later picked and explained to us that one Capt. Iyke is the one who handles contracts for the CNS and he's like a demigod who everyone is scared of, he too is not picking calls. We now took our case to the Headquarters Eastern Navy Command, the Admiral summoned the BaBo who was a Commander to come to his office, when the BABO arrived and saw us he just snapped his fingers, after the Admiral advised us and told us not to worry. The BaBo now smiled and said we should just drive behind him to the Base and collect some money, let's just go with him so he can see what he can do, My mama no raise fool sha I tell my people say make we no go but they declined, anyway they drove behind him while me I went my way and wetin Navy use their eye see ehn |

izzou:Well those are usually soldiers. Uneducated folks. A graduate in the military carries himself with grace. When I served in 3rd armoured division, the ones clearing the grasses and serving officers, are the ones you see on the road harrasing people. If you enter the Soldiers mess, you will think you are in the roughest hood in jamaica. Its a risky place for a sane person to be in..cos a small misunderstanding..and a stray bullet might hit you. We were adviced to never go there. So na these kind people go come out and act respectful towards a bloo.dy civillian? When you enter the officers mess, its calm. You have the bar where a soldier can serve you any drink you want. You sit there and watch PL matches, play snookers. You must be properly dressed. Your Top tucked in...and you wont were slippers or slippon. So people with this level of discipline will not act like rogues outside. |

BlueRayDick:Mostly Lagos oh. I doubt if there are other places it happens And it's because it's a symbiotic relationship (Abi how dem dey talk am? ). The drivers know that they will not pay unnecessary dues if a soldier is in the vehicle.Even when I am carrying my loaded van and I pass Ojo barracks, I love to give soldiers a lift. That's because I won't pay the 1000 naira to Agberos at Mile 2. I rather use the 1k buy Coke and Gala for the soldier sef ![]() |

Emaprince:I have Soldier friend. Let's call him Sergeant K ![]() Anytime I give him a lift, he must intentionally find trouble on the journey. If he's not cussing a Policeman on his own. He's doing one thing or the other just to let people know he's a Soldier ![]() No high ranking officer would behave that way. |

KingTom:The bolded is so funny. Nigerian military too useless. All of them are the same, if the higher ups are not in on the culture, they would've stopped behaving like this. I remember getting in problem with one commissioned officer, it wasn't a problem if we go by definition of the word, but this is Nigeria. The man insisted I must beg him, me I refused, I stood my ground that I didn't do what he was trying to pin on me. At a point he said I was feeling too big to beg because he's smaller than me or what, it felt like he was trying to prove a point in embarrassing me, by making me say the word"sorry", it was beginning to seem like inferiority complex to me, like play like play, hours wan dey pass and him & him boys no allow me move, I had to swallow my pride and beg him despite knowing I did no wrong, because las las na naija we dey. |

TemporaryHansel: ![]() Why are you bitter nau? To be honest, I would rather swallow the excesses of the Army, Navy or Air Force than the Police. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by TemporaryHansel(m): 8:05am On Sep 23 |
izzou:Abeg oh. Me I prefer Nigerian police to the useless Nigerian military 💯. Na who broke Nigerian police dey embarrass, the useless Nigerian military no dey look face. |

TemporaryHansel:When issues of insecurity arise on our roads, the Soldiers react faster than the Police. An Army Checkpoint is always active 24 hours in a day. As for Police, once the rains start, dem don run enter their hut, or drive off If I give a Soldier 200 naira at a checkpoint, he thanks me gracefully. A policeman will tell me it's small and all that! He can still park me over nothing. Also, a soldier can respect himself compared to the Police. He dresses well even in the bush. Soldiers have their excesses, but they are more diligent and useful to Nigerians than the Police |

izzou:Most times when a soldier likes to make trouble, it is the personality of the soldier shining through. Unfortunately for the public, when a soldier makes trouble and he's about to be overwhelmed by the trouble he caused, espirits-de-corps will make fellow soldiers join him so he doesn't get disgraced. Let me share a recent experience I observed. Early August I was in PH for official assignment and I happen to be in a security convoy with some Nigerians and some expatriates. Our Lead vehicle is a military hilux that has about 6 soldiers on board. The escort coordinator was sat in the vehicle I was in (Which followed closely behind the lead military hilux). There's a particular soldier in the lead military vehicle that would always jump down at junctions with traffic bottlenecks and be fighting with either a 3rd party truck driver or whipping a PH keke guy. The guy jumps down at every opportunity to "deal " with "bloody civilians". Now, the thing is the escort coordinator is always pissed by this particular soldier's action. The escort coordinator will always speak to the driver of the lead military hilux on walkie to call the overzealous soldier to order. I understand the escort coordinator's concern tho; In our vehicle we have 2 Germans and one American whom you don't want their memory of Nigeria to be of soldiers whipping other road users just for them to get to their destination early.....But those of us who are Nigerians also understood that some of the truck drivers, keke riders and korope drivers are goat that won't do the right thing till they are either whipped or viciously treated like animals. The escort coordinator made a statement which resonated with we the Nigerians in the vehicle. He said "When these boys don spend like 1 to 2 years in Sambisa forest fighting terrorists, it is difficult for them to adjust when they are back amongst ordinary civilians" Personally, I think that particular soldier that was always jumping down is a very aggressive person with anger issue. I also think posting those guys back into the society after over a year at the war front (without any proper evaluation of their mental well-being) is a danger to the society nobody is talking about. The guy has a loaded rifle that he points at Keke guys before whipping them; what if those ones say the "wrong word" and he pulls his trigger ? |

BlueRayDick:American soldiers that fight wars everywhere don't behave like this when they return to the US. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 9:07am On Sep 23 |
TemporaryHansel:You think American soldiers and Nigerian soldiers have the same terms of service?...... In the last one to two months I've been seeing social media content of Nigerians and other nationals who joined American army as regular soldiers (not commissioned officers o). They document their journey how they bought their own house for rentals within 2 years of joining the US Army. How many Nigerian soldiers who are not commissioned officers can buy a property from their legit earnings within 10 years of serving in the military? I mean buying houses with their earnings not proceeds from ekelebe duty, bunkering or any other illegal jobs. The US Army has quality free Healthcare available to active soldiers. Do you have that in Nigeria? You see there's a whole lot that can mess up with the mental health of a soldier which is not being addressed in Nigeria. So I don't see why you should be comparing the Nigerian soldiers to their US counterparts |

TemporaryHansel:I think it's more of a society thing than individual. Let's move away from soldiers and police. Even in the various white cholar professional work settings, those who holds power likes to abuse it with little or no reppercusion. Ranging from university lecturers, to office heads, etc. Remembered when i was meant to collect one receipt like that in my year 1. The lady that was in the office with the computer where I was meant to collect the receipt, after I came there, I sat down there for like 1hour waiting, this lady was gisting with her colleagues instead of attending to me. After the gist, it was time to attend to me He asked me the date I paid the money so she could print the receipt. This ladies office is in charge of those paying for loss of receipt. Actually I have loss my receipt , so I have to pay for loss of receipt so I would be issued a new receipt covering the one I lost. Now this lady asked me the date I payed the money, I couldn't remember the date, I called one date like that, the lady inputted the date and my name didn't show, she asked me again what date it was, I guessed again and this time it was wrong again. This lady shouted at me to leave her office, that shed call the security on me. As per year 1 student, I started begging, but all my begging fail on deaf ears After leaving her office and hanged around the premises for like 3-4 hours, she came out and saw me, Then told me to come inside, as I came inside, she asked me my name, I told her and she inputted my name in the search field and book, my details appeared It now downed on me that she could have used the search feature all along but she decided to flex power .. That's one in mamlny scenarios.. The difference is the police and soldiers has access to guns and those ones doesn't Is a systemic something |

Spy360:I am not self-centered and wicked like Obidients, who don't care if the workers whose lives depended on their salaries, die of hunger. Unlike most of those deprived workers I have multiple streams of income, so my delayed payment from a source won't kill me. Like Obi, you are wicked and your insensitive type shoudn't get to any leadership position in a sane society. |

izzou:In my opinion, this is justifying bad behavior. Nobody forced them to join the Nigerian military, they knew the pay/renumeration is poor before joining, so if the poor renumeration is messing with their mental health, shouldn't they either resign from the military or take it up with their superiors? There's no excuse for the unprofessionalism of the Nigerian military. They're a disgrace to humanity. Cc Blueraydick |

Realmrsean:I'm not making excuse for the lady's harsh behaviour towards you, but I think you should've been truthful enough to tell her you can't remember the date of payment. If you had done that, she would've used the name to search instead of date of payment. She probably got pissed that you allowed her search 2 wrong dates when you are not sure of those two dates from onset. That being said, I think non teaching staff of public secondary schools and public owned universities have this over bloated ego that always makes them want to oppress students at the slightest opportunity. |

TemporaryHansel:If Nigerians don't join military, shey na Fulani who crossed boarder from Niger, Chad, Burkina Faso and Mali u go like make dem populate Nigerian Army? You should be advocating for improved terms of service for military men side-by-side with your call for improvment in their professionalism. |

BlueRayDick:a jjc year one student who does not know anything and is clearly intimidated? a human being would recognize this child as similar to her own careless children who have to be reminded of something 5 times it is simply a power drunk woman on a power trip when my mum retired from nursing, she decided to open a shop in unilorin mini campus to pass the time. a lot of students used to hang out there and she found out how callous and indifferent several of her friends who are lecturers are towards students basically she would start harassing them to find students missing scripts etc. when a particular set graduated, teh students gathered to bake her a cake and some other stuff your average university employee , be it assu, sannu or whatever anu is a power mad maniac obsessed with oppressing for the sake of it. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 10:34am On Sep 23 |
GloriousGbola:The JJC student actually knew he was guessing a date he wasn't sure of. Like I said earlier I am not making excuse for the lady because I had my fair share of issues with non-teaching staff in departmental & faculty offices while I was in School , but we can both agree she's a typical short tempered Nigerian who gets angry easily because "you dey carry her play". Doing guess work over something u are not sure of in that environment is a No No; it is a recipe for u to get the lady all livid. Maybe because personally as a person I am used to saying things I know and will tell u "I don't know" when I am not sure of something......I don't see reason why u should be doing guess work on top wetin u no dey sure of. Right from young age if a teacher ask a question and I don't know the answer I will just say I don't know it. I always get amused when I see people making wild guesses that are way off the mark. So maybe that's why I think he should've just told the lady he can't remember and let's see what would've happened instead. |

BlueRayDick:Both teaching and non-teaching staff have bloated egos. Bank tellers, gatemen at government parastatals, bank tellers, doctors, typists in the civil service, PA to the Senior Pastor etc. Nigerians don't drink responsibly from the well of power. That is why most (including the freedom fighters and activists) become power drunk when they are in any position of authority/power. There is an oppression codon in the Nigerian genome. |

even me sef I have seen it happen, a particular commander staunch Muslim and misogynistic was angry at the way the Nepa lady spoke to his boys while delivering the bill, apparently others try to be diplomatic and tell them that they should please pay so the office can run, while the girl flat out told them she will cut their light, before we knew we just heard gbum! They descended on the crew and detained everybody in Guardroom, only that she was spared the beating
