raumdeuter:Nawah. Saw this on X earlier. Why do people still take risks like this, I saw one that said his mum spent 3.5m to put him in the journey, some even left their young kids to embark on the journey. Later people will call on FG to intervene if something happens. Smh. |

TemporaryHansel:8-11 years ago 12 of my very good friends went en route to italy..I declined due to the risk plus i was doing relatively well compared to about 10 of dem...dey all succeeded .. .fast forward to today..they are all doing fantastically well than i in almost all ramifications financially |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by TemporaryHansel(m): 7:07pm On Sep 23 |
Segedinho:I think we shouldn't use only finances as a major decider of success. By the way, financial success is subjective. So, no need comparing your life to anybody else life. Whatever you see, a price was paid, even if you're ready to pay the price there's no guarantee you'll get the same results. Las las, comparison is the thief of joy. |

TemporaryHansel:Na desperation. The whole West Africa is filled with Nigerians trying to reach Europe on foot/bus. Some of my friends went on excursion to Abidjan in 2001 and found some Nigerian male and female stuck there hoping they will get to Europe someday You take 1m along, when the money finish you stop and hustle to gather more money then move Many Naija guys dey do laborer and girls dey do OS work for villages in Mali Burkina Mauritania and Guinea hoping to get to Europe, some on get belle, born, run mad and might never make it to Europe More are still taking that trip today |

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 7:10pm On Sep 23 |
GloriousGbola:That was some dangeous journey he took One guy I knew in Uni told be he attempted the journey before he was deported from Libya and later decided to go to Uni. I am guessing, given his age he did his trip in the late 90s He will tell you how they were seeing dead bodies on the road, many die from starvation and thirst. then start to drink pee |

TemporaryHansel:My aim of putting my write up forward was "don't blame anyone" on a chosen risk I don't juxtapose my life financially or otherwise with anyone, also I don't blame anyone on a chosen risk In all, life is full of funny episodes |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 7:23pm On Sep 23 |
raumdeuter:A colleague told a story of how his friend and gf did the same. We were in uni at the time. At a point in the journey they robbed them and gang ra ped his gf. A friends brother also went on the same trip Somehow in this age of information, people are still completely naive. That is what I keep taking from fisayos story. They were completely clueless about what happens in these trips. |

TemporaryHansel:A friend who went to unilag (sowore is a unilag graduate) told me flatly four years ago that sowore is a scammer.at the time I chose not to argue, but it turns out the guy was right. I guess in the end if we live long enough the truth will become obvious. |

The decisions we have taken to reposition Nigeria’s oil and gas sector are beginning to bear fruit. Since assuming office, I have signed a series of Presidential Directives and Executive Orders to make investment in Nigeria more competitive, reduce the cost and time required to develop projects, provide greater certainty to investors and ensure that our natural resources deliver greater value to our people. One of those reforms introduced specific incentives to unlock onshore and shallow-water gas projects that had remained undeveloped for years. Today, we are seeing the result. AMNI International and TotalEnergies have taken an $800 million Final Investment Decision to develop the Ima Gas Field, discovered in 1973 and left underground for more than fifty years. For Nigerians, this means work for our engineers, technicians and contractors. It means opportunities for Nigerian businesses, jobs and economic activity in our host communities, and more export earnings for our country. AMNI, a Nigerian company, holds the majority interest in the project. Around 60% of the development workforce is expected to come from the host communities. Ima is expected to produce about 350 million cubic feet of gas every day at peak and supply about one-third of the gas required for the expansion of Nigeria LNG. This is what our reforms are intended to achieve, to move Nigeria’s resources from potential to production and translate them into jobs, incomes and opportunity for our people. We have more to unlock. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR President |

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Ibime(m): 8:01pm On Sep 23 |
Theflint1:Information is free From 1996 to 1999, his UK and only major company had little on the balance sheet, around £2k to £15k Net Asset Value at that period From 2000, I will say he started trading big because the company then started having a low Net Asset Value but £1m-£1.5m in debtors and about the same in Creditors. I will assume that he was the creditor and give him kudos that his company generated up to £1.5m of people owing it (Debtor balance) from 2000, although the creditor balance more or less evened it out to a net worth near zero. The company did however take a mortgage on a property in 1997 and some or a good chunk of that creditor balance could be the bank for the mortgage. https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/03199858/filing-history?page=4 |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Theflint1(m): 8:14pm On Sep 23 |
Ibime:I didn't mention the company being based in the UK...I simply said the company was valued at 7 million USD...going by what I could get from a video where he was speaking Igbo. Maybe an Igbo speaker can help, but the valuation seemed to have been done by First Bank. My point in mentioning the 7 million USD was that he was running a company with that valuation then...whether the company was based in Nigeria, or the UK is another matter altogether, that wasn't my point tho. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Ibime(m): 8:27pm On Sep 23 |
Theflint1:Well I gave his UK company financials since by his account, most of his early wealth came from his UK operations. That is his only business in UK Those in Nigeria can give account of his Nigerian Business (Next International limited) which is likely to be valued in Naira Also private companies are typically valued at 7 times their yearly EBITDA (Operating Profit) so a valuation of $7m dollars likely means he was making around $1m operating profit per year from that company. There is a wide gap between that and having $15m in cash to put offshore in Panama. That $7m valuation does not even come close to explaining his cash holdings. You can expect a founder to have way less than 10% in cash (typically 1-5%) compared to the value of his company. In other words, if Obi has a company worth $7m, I expect him to have a lot less than $700k in personal cash unless he is stuffing car boots with other people's money. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Theflint1(m): 8:40pm On Sep 23 |
Ibime:His wealth coming from UK operations does not mean he had financial footprint in the UK while he was building said wealth. It's like a person that's into the importation of goods from the US or China, and they have someone based in these countries who for a long time they sent money through for whatever purchases they were making. Maybe down the road they now decide to establish a footprint for themselves through what fuctioned like a shell company...this is conjecture, but is a common practice. I can't be precise on a lot of things you're referring to since a large portion of the video we're working with was in Igbo. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Ibime(m): 8:43pm On Sep 23 |
Theflint1:A plausible explanation But that $7m company valuation talk no be am, considering we know he has $15m cash in Panama, and that's only what we've been able to discover. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Theflint1(m): 8:54pm On Sep 23 |
Ibime:There's enough to show that he was doing serious business way before politics, he was chairman of Fidelity bank as at 1996, and that was one of several banks he had shares in. How much you recon you'd need to have been worth in 1996 to become chairman of a bank like Fidelity from 1996-2002? |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Ibime(m): 9:13pm On Sep 23 |
Theflint1:A good counterargument As of Fidelity listing in 2005, his shares there were worth over $14m |
