Interest on what debt that has not been drawn down?

Only brainless ghosts would have this balablu bulaba town hall clueless reasoning.
🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I borrowed 5000 from opay on 12% interest for 1 month.

I decided not to spend the money and keep it in same opay account.

Do you think I'm still going to be paying the same 5000 back to opay after 1 month?

How old are you?

And didn't that defeat the whole I saved money mantra if the money you claimed to save was borrowed?

Like make una dey use this 🧠 na. Hian.

Obi is actually technically correct.
You are right, he is 'technically' because he will not pay interest on the money I guess.

Isn't it a form of madness to borrow money, leave it in your account without spending it and yet keep servicing the loan with heavy interests which sometimes are more than half of your total budget? How you take see that kain thing?

Obi is very correct in this instance- you don't owe money on a loan that you have not drawn down.

The question for Soludo is to confirm how much Obi drew down from the approved loans and whether it corresponds to the debt amount allegedly left behind in 2014,
You have said it

According to the Fraud, Just because you have not spent from the loan in your account, then it's not a loan and Palmpay dont have the right to ask for it when it's time for you to start paying
Did he borrow the money in the first place? He did not borrow the money and he did not spend the money. The whole scenario is clear but the blind won't be able to see it. Emilokan is a form of blindness.

What palmpay gave you is a term loan. But what Obi refers here is an overdraft. You only owe what you have drawndown
Na you and Obi run the government, for you to know it’s overdraft?

Can you use overdraft to the tune of 123 millions of USDollars? E be like se you get škän.

I guess you don’t know what what they use overdraft for.
Overdraft is just a short-term means of finance. It, usually, doesn’t last than a month.

You and your savior should keep hiding behind one finger o.

I have an overdraft of 1000 pounds, I only get charged interest on the part I spend. If I don't spend our of it, I don't get charged and the overdraft is always there.
Ogbeni, gb’enu dake. Very illogical and irrelevant rêãsön!ng here.

Who told you this is a case of overdraft? Does Anambra State bank with international lenders or FG that borrowed it money for ecological and health reasons?

Does DMO record bank overdraft as debt?

How does that borrowing amount to overdraft?

Kpele o, £1,000 overdraft UK man.

Let me break it down to the level you may understand if you want to.....
You are the manager of a company and applied for a loan of N1000 during your regime only 50 naira was released when you were retiring which you didn't use because of time and the remaining loan was released for your successor who used it afterwards.........is it right to say you left a debt of 1000 naira that you didn't pay?
Good analysis.

1. But established, you BORROWED money, right? that you didn't have chance to spend it is another story. So firstly you should stop telling people that you did not borrow money and they should go and verify. We just verified that you did.

2. When you sign to get a loan, terms and conditions will be clearly stated and which in cases of government borrowing and others is that the bank gives you their terms and interest rates PA which you will sign confirming you agreed to everything. Once that is done, it doesn't matter what the terms are as in what trenches the money will be released, you are already obligated to the total amount you signed for. Meaning, whether they release 50 now and 200 in 3 months and the balance in 6 months doesn't matter, you are paying interest on the 1k you signed for.

3. Okay, you were able to collect and spend 50 out of the 1k you requested for which you planned to spend, can you also please stop telling people to go and verify again that that you did not approach any institution for loan or you did not use loan for anything during your service? because you just confirmed that you spent 50 naira from the loan you signed for.

The people who draw down the money are the ones owing. If he sent the money back to the FG, he would be called a sabo. So he left and Willie can, saw the money and squandered it.

I have this friend that took 200m naira loan from the bank, he told me the loan wasn't counting because he hasn't touched it, also he'll only pay interest for the one he'll collect. I was surprised

He did not take the loan, there is a big difference between loan approval and taking the actual money.
You can apply for a loan now and it gets approved, your lender will only debit you when you draw the money and even if it's true, such loans are low or zero interest loan, you can invest the money in government bond that will generate interest that will pay up the with more than enough left to you to become extremely rich and why do you think that all the countries in this world borrow money,
Love him or hate him, he is an intelligent businessman.

if his successors were as intelligent as him, Anambra state would have been the better off today.

Under him, Anambra became an oil producing state.
He was able to get approval for those low interest loan. If we really want this country to move forward, we should learn to see good in others, it will not make you less of a man
Lol. You have tried but ultimately still going round in circles because nonsense is very difficult to defend.

You don't know whether your claim is that the debt was low interest or no interest. Which exactly?

You don't even know whether you are arguing that he did not draw down the debt or that the debt was low/zero interest so it doesn't matter in the first instance.

Furthermore, that low/zero cost loans can be invested in bonds. And so? Did Peter invest the one he took in bonds? He said he didn't use it at all.

So come back when you know which angle of defense you want to adopt specifically so we can then engage on particular facts.

A bank Chairman can be someone who has money to buy majority shares in a bank. Peter AdaObi was never a banker. No bank, not even a Microfinance or Community bank will employ such a dullard.

I hope that you remember that Femi Oregon’s just bought the highest single shares in First Bank and he became the Chairman. That doesn’t make him a banker

What Gringori is implying here is that, IF he, for instance, becomes the president of Biafra and his government approaches a lender with a demand of, say, £10000, and the lender approves and pays the money into the governments account, the government hasn't taken a loan of £10000 until they spend £10000!!

YET, someone sits somewhere and tell me this man is "intelligent" and remains the saviour Nigeria desires!

Good grief. 😪
..the loan money he did not spend was left for the next government..obiano government.,.. so.obiano should explain what he did with the loan or whether he obiano refunded the loan back to the lender

Can you read between the lines? Approval of a loan is not debt until it's drawn..

I have a mortgage Approval ain't a debt yet until it's taken.

Go and read more about accounting mate.I do not support anyone, but truth must be told at all times.

You really tried hard to sound smart and I must commend you. However, what you defined is TOD (Temporary Overdraft).
An Overdraft can last up to 12 months or more and may be revolving depending on the terms of the offer letter.
Also know that Public Sector Financing does not following the regular business or personal lending schemes.
I hope I have educated you to a reasonable extent?

so if I borrow 5 million naira from u n I didn't spend it for 10 years

That means I am not oweing u n u have no right to tell anyone I took money from u.

That's what obi is implying.

I know for sure if this exact scenerio happens to u in real life the person go collect but here u are supporting it cos u want your brother as president so anything he says u must defend it

It's sickening bro
False equivalence. This wasn't a personal loan. It was a facility taken on behalf of the state government by the federal government, and according to Obi's account, he handed it over to the administration that took over from him. When you borrow #5 million personally, you remain the debtor no matter what.

But a state is a continuing entity: the debt stays with the state and the custodianship of the money passes to the next administration
Peter Obi is not denying the loan existed. He's saying he didn't utilize it, his successor did. So, the question isn't "does the debt exist"? . It exists. But who spent it and failed to account for it?

If it is proven the reserve were left intact, and the next government drew them down, responsibility for the outcome rest with that government . And this logic applies to any governor, not Obi alone. So spare us "you're just defending your brother " line.
