Paul Ibe, a media aide to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on Friday, mocked President Bola Tinubu over his absence at the ongoing 81st United Nations General Assembly, UNGA, in New York.

Ibe said Tinubu has gone from a reported front seat role at UNGA to a housekeeper role in France.

While Vice President Kashim Shettima is representing Nigeria at the ongoing UNGA, Tinubu is engaged in an extended working vacation in France.

Defending Tinubu’s absence at UNGA, Nigeria’s Permanent Representatives at the UN, Jimoh Ibrahim explained that the president can’t attend UNGA and speak for just 15 minutes.

Ibrahim said most of the speakers on the speaking list are vice presidents and foreign affairs ministers.

Reacting, Ibe said Tinubu has become the greatest demarketer of Nigeria abroad.

Posting on X, Ibe wrote: “President Bola Tinubu @officialABAT has gone from a reportedly front-row seat at UNGA to a housekeeper role in France.

“Meanwhile, @batten_von has revealed that “President Tinubu was reportedly prepared to give everything, including the birthright of every Nigerian, just for a meeting” with @realDonaldTrump.

“It is becoming obvious by the day that Tinubu has become the greatest demarketer of Nigeria.”

Growing up, when some of our mothers were busy and needed to go to the market or somewhere else, but had no one to stay with the kids, they would usually plead with a trusted neighbour who was less busy to look after them.

In this case, since Bubu hardly goes anywhere and always stays put in Aso Rock, I’m beginning to think the French President must have asked him to come and “nanny” the children of France while their president travelled to the UNGA, especially knowing fully well that Bubu would not be attending. 😂

True. Tinubu was willing to sell the country wholesale just to make it to the UNGA in New York and, of course, turn the whole spectacle into political capital. Unfortunately for him, it didn’t happen.
