Abia Warriors v Bendel: Strong match. Looks like both teams will score. I predict a draw. Make guobe no break my head ![]() Ikorodu City v Rangers Int'l: Another strong match, but could tilt towards the away team. I won't be biased, but home advantage is a factor. I'll give it a draw too. Kano Pillars v Enyimba: The home team will capitalize on Eyimba's misfortunes to bag a home victory. Home support will be maximal today. Expect riots if the Elephants do the unthinkable. Katsina Utd v Doma United: Doma may want to cause an upset, but I tip the home to a possible win or draw. Kun Khalifa v Kwara: This may be a dream win for the Arab-sounding club from Owerri. Nasarawa v Niger Tornadoes: Em, I don't know how to approach this, but i am hesitantly sure that both teams may score. Plateau United v Inter Lagos: Sure win for the home side. Home advantage plus massive support will add to the Sunday mix. Warri Wolves v Shooting: I won't be surprised if Shooting takes the three points. The Wolves haven't impressed me much enough to be a serious contender this season. Home attendance has been average, but let me pity them by predicting them 1X. Matchday 6 results and table Sporting Lagos 1 - 1 Barau FC Abia Warriors 3 - 0 Bendel Insurance Ikorodu City 2- Enugu Rangers Kano Pillars 0 - 0 Enyimba Katsina United 2 - 1 Doma United Kun Khalifat 1 - 0 Kwara United Nasarawa United 1 - 0 Niger Tornadoes Plateau United 2 - 0 Inter Lagos Warri Wolves 1 - 0 Shooting Stars Ranchers Bees 0 - 0 Rivers United Rangers winning streak against Ikorodu City comes to an abrupt end with the 2-nil loss. Not only did they win the league last season at Ikorodu's home turf, they denied Ikorodu the continental ticket which they were on the verge of securing for the first time in their history (all they needed was a draw). Ikorodu really had them in mind and went into the game like wounded lions. Congrats to Enyimba for finally securing a point at Kano Pillars stadium of all places. The windy conditions and poor visibility may have played a part in the goalless draw but point na point. For now, Barau, Rivers United and Kano pillars remain unbeaten in the league so far.

Nigeria League sef! No set of dorminant clubs. Every season, you will see a different winner. That's not good for consistency. Normally, there are top clubs in every league... England: Arsenal, City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man U. Spain: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico. Italy: Inter, Juventus, Milan S/Africa: Kaizer Chiefs, M/Sundowns, O/Pirates But here, you'll see Enyimba winning the league this season, but battling relegation next season. No consistency. Different new clubs keep representing Nigeria in CAF club competitions, & they keep performing poorly. The clubs can't build on their past experiences in CAF competitions. Even sponsors won't want to invest in a club that wins today, & battles relegation tomorrow. |

GanagiBitrus:I feel it is good. Having a dominant winner year in year out will make the league boring and uninteresting to watch. |

GanagiBitrus:What magic formula do you have to make our league better, competitive and exciting like the oyinbo ones are still? Still, because our league was all these things up until the eighties. By the way, do you have a HOME team? How much support do you give them, compared with the support that oyinbos give to their own home clubs ![]() |
| Re: NPFL Discussion Thread by anonimi: 10:51pm On Sep 28 |
Hopez456:Na so o. What happened to Leicester City some years ago? And Manchester United as well as Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal recently? Clubs sometimes have their own issues but their home fans remain loyal. They don’t abandon them for some neocolonial reason. |
| Re: NPFL Discussion Thread by anonimi: 10:53pm On Sep 28 |
samwash:What percentage is this HARDLY for you? What percentage away wins do you see in oyinbo leagues, where private clubs play for profit? |
| Re: NPFL Discussion Thread by TheStoriesOfMan: 11:54am On Sep 29 |
GanagiBitrus:The bolded is the reason why unpredictability of the league is exciting. The rise and fall of empires is the reason archeologists are excited as to what really happened, why the rise, what caused the fall and what the future holds. The only place I have issues is that most clubs in Nigeria don't have backup plans. The owners buy them for profit, sell as when due and the new owners take on such mentality. Rinse and repeat. No continuity plans if something happens. Years ago, former Leicester owner dyed in a helicopter crash yet the club handled the transition almost smoothly. |
