Make I no talk sha... But seem there will be another Azonto Dancing soon. 😂 The earlier you realize protest can't give you anything in this line of business the better for you. You can't protest your way to your dream fare. But what do I know? |

Glithronix:So basically they should provide the lowest rides fares to riders through discounts, vouchers and reduced fares while giving drivers the highest earning possible through bonus and lowest commissions. All for what? When and how are they gonna make this money back? Cos d moment they start increasing commissions we will all shout. And if they increase the fares back Riders will leave them. For me more apps coming to compete in this space will only drag d price further down. The current App companies should collaborate or govt should regulate them to standardize the fares. If I where in govt I would force Indrive and Bolt to have comparable prices with Lagride so as to make them desirable. Right now they hardly get customers cos the difference in price between Lagride and Bolt/Indrive is like night and day. All over the world, Germany, UK, Spain, China, even Kenya and Tanzania, the govt regulates prices and fixes minimum fares to ensure a decent earning for the Industry players and protect the jobs of regular taxis. To be honest, how would u feel if u were a yellow taxi operator after Uber and Bolt came into Nigeria? Bolt especially crashed trips of 5k to less than 2k. |

NaughtyBrainiac:With out sincere government intervention, no way for now. Let us just be contented with the reality fare, which itself is not guaranteed! After the hustle and bustle of the day, when you get home, you are free to experience all the dream fare, in your dream! |
| Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by MoonlightDrive: 1:09am On Oct 01 |
Pearl1910:You are spot on, see what uber, bolt and indrive did to yellow taxi cab operators, honestly did any one of us here feel empathy to the Yellow taxi cab operators. Perhaps the saying what goes around comes around is now applying to all of us, lets see how it all plays out. uber in time past gave generous bonuses, to get drivers loyalty, it never worked out. So in E-hailing there is no loyalty, but we are trying to exploit each other from app company, drivers to passengers. No passenger is loyal to any app company, they are always on the look out for the cheapest ride. The only suggestion i could give to government, is that let Bolt and indrive employ a minimum of 50 drivers each as permanent staff, let us see whether they will be able to push out the prices they expect us to accept from passengers. |

obacasmir:Truly the sad reality of this business, i experienced such on indrive. Meanwhile an oil change of less than 30mins will net that amount, hope you know the 2 hours plus journey is your gross fare on indrive. remove fuel, maintenance, commission, before you know it you will start humming to your passenger... which way Nigeria in Sonny Okosun voice. |
| Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by MoonlightDrive: 1:48am On Oct 01 |
Nelochukwu:We can lament all day long, this a multi billon dollar industry, drivers sadly are the pawns. The app company in America, Europe are even trying to remove the "entitled pawns", by rolling out more driverless cars. On the CNG issue, imagine if every Nigerian motorist, install CNG, what happens in the future when a cheaper alternative comes on board, how do you safely dispose such amount of cylinder in an environmentally friendly manner, ultimately who bears the cost of the disposal? Honestly in our desperation for short term gains, we sometimes forget to look at the bigger pictures, mother nature always bear the cost. I don't honestly mind entitled passengers, note not disrespectful passenger if they are actually paying the right fare for a trip. Imagine a trip from Ejigbo to Iponri estate, for less than N10k, and the passenger was lamenting... upon how much she is paying, i am not putting on my AC, i calmly told her lots of traffic and fuel is almost N1,400 per litre. |

I recently paid all my outstanding amount that i owed uber, for almost 2 years. The reason why i stopped using the app, was my iphone ios was out of date, i was not ready to get a new phone,. I am a firm believer one good turn deserves another, Uber truly meant well for E-hailing in Nigeria, but it was a fight, that even almighty uber was destined to lose, unless they compromise on their standards. Good bye Uber and happy independence days to you all.

Pearl1910:Your submission here, simply mean there is no solution and as such, Glith stance is the only temporary way forward. Mentioning govt as intervention in this case is even scary. My Nigeria govt. . Expecting Nigeria govt intervention as way forward is simply building castile in the air.But whichever way, that is life, some of us will continue to dance azonto, while some will not. At the end, everything will reset again and everyone will still survive one way or the other. Right now, we need healthy competitions. |
| Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by MoonlightDrive: 6:46am On Oct 01 |
SHOOPSYN:The so called healthy competitions, has lead to poor fares, what we probably need is a Dangote solution See how the price of cement is rising, regardless of the poor state of the economy. But will a monopolist model work for E-hailing, honestly i am not even sure of that. On the mention of Government intervention, online loan sharks laughing their hearts out! |
| Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by SHOOPSYN(m): 7:33am On Oct 01 |
MoonlightDrive:@bolded, this is a valid point and interesting view. It is good we think about this ahead. But the bottom line is, we will surely cross that bridge when we get there. We have crosed so many bridges. From secondary school we have had idea of environmental degradation, climate change, flood and the likes. We are facing and managing some presently. Our crude oil have been depleting for decades and we are still here. The point is, someone somewhere will discover the use for the bad cylinder. The disposal structure will be put in place(though after various side effects ). Every innovation comes with risk. You can't eat your cake and have it. But at the end, there will certainly be a way out. We go dey alright. Azonto continues, victoria ascterta ![]() |

| Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Shimmaa: 7:56am On Oct 01 |
SHOOPSYN:To be very honest with you, there’s no other solution except for what pearl said which is government intervention to set standardized and fixed price per km. Or else, any new app coming will struggle to gain rider if price is higher than what bolt and inDrive offers currently. |
| Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Glithronix: 8:47am On Oct 01 |
NaughtyBrainiac:Baba pearl dey talk as if him no know the kind government wey dey run this country. Government wey no send una. The government wey dey look for every avenue to hang e-hailing drivers. Abi him don forget the time wey government came up with e-hailing inspection crap? No be we refused to succumb? If the competition between Bolt and Indrive continues, it will get worse than this. What we need now is another rival to come in with enticing facilities that will drag drivers. Once drivers accept an app. success awaits such app. company. @Pearl1910 Much respect, baba. |

Glithronix:What kind of enticing facilities? |
| Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Nelochukwu: 11:12am On Oct 01 |
MoonlightDrive:My brother no body is removing any pawns in Europe driverless cars are still many years from now and trust me many many folks will still prefer traditional uber's than driverless uber's. You must note that may drivers including myself installed cng as last option to keep up with present realities on ground. Same realises that had been on ground for 2 years. Cng brought hope to this hustle for many as their cars will never have been used in e hailing if not cng. There will be no cheaper alternatives to cng because having that will mean fares will drop more esp as there are no regulations. Honestly definition of entitled riders are the ones that do the most for the least amount paid. If a rider pays premium dey can be entitled all dey want I will even encourage Dem to be entitled heck u r paying me I don't care but wen we see d present fares for me drivers r doing riders a favor. This business needs regulation whereby there is an approved naira/km base fare that ALL app work with. |
| Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by emmychib: 11:18am On Oct 01 |
Good morning and happy independence to you all. The truth of the matter is that another app coming into the picture with higher fares for drivers is just a temporary fix. What pearl said is the permanent fix but unfortunately, our government doesn't care. Any new app that wants to control the market will definitely do what Indrive did when they started then later they will crash the price just like Indrive |

| Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by feran15(m): 12:10pm On Oct 01 |
Glithronix:the only enticing facility is to give out free money to riders and drivers to gain market share. That's investment they need to get back somehow later. Uber for example only started turning profit in 2023, 3 years ago. Bolt for the first time last year. you're asking another person to come in and burn millions of dollars so that in 7 years they can maybe make profit. If you look at people abroad that usually pay by card. Uber will charge them as much as possible and then pay the driver as little as possible. Just wait till it's Uber that is processing payments. Government intervention is truly the only way and these companies are even fighting that abroad too |
| Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Eazilyfe: 12:36pm On Oct 01 |
Everyone suggesting Govt intervention should erase the thought. There is no way forward because drivers are not united by association and apps compete with ridiculous prices for rides satisfying only riders because they feel riders bring the money to the ehailing market. Uber leaving has made things worse, We need a new app company for competition but i dont think any company is ready to invest in an uncertainty because the economy is in shambles where people look cheap things first then later complain of bad quality. |
| Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Pearl1910: 12:54pm On Oct 01 |
SHOOPSYN:U have seen the work of competition and u are still canversing for it. U can't still keep doing the same thing and expect a different result. Why do u think the govt cannot regulate? They are already doing that partially when they requested for N30per trip and 25m every year from the app coys. It's just that people in govt don't think deep, the only time they think, it's how to collect money from citizens. This is very possible. |
| Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Pearl1910: 1:03pm On Oct 01 |
Glithronix:After doing this business for upto 5yrs, u should be able to tell an investor practically how to enter the market and still remain relevant, sustainable and lasting in this business. Ur recommendations will bleed the investors and their partners for years. They will run at a loss just to gain traction and after all said and done, when their money is finished, d only thing that will still keep Riders on that app is a competitive price. Then we will be back to square one. Don't forget we as Drivers are looking for how to raise our income as cost is rising. So whether 1 or 10 more apps enter d market, that is not the solution. |

Pearl1910:Baba, if you want to invest, shey you go go meet the government say you want to invest in e-hailing ooh, make dem intervene first? Wetin me I know be say, government no go do ish, rather, they'd be looking for every possible way to nuke drivers. This is why I don't even look at the government side. Yes, the power to do it is in the government's hand, but make we no even think am. New company is needed and the only way I KNOW they can capture the market is what I have said earlier. Indrive too started raw and was spending huge to gain market, they are making their money now even with the bad fares. So, why can't a new company do the same thing plus what indrive is lacking which I have also said in my earlier post? If this won't work, then drivers should brace up for more yéyé prices, cos this current government won't do nada. Lagride is on another level, so, no competition. The competition is between Bolt and Indrive only (damn!). At least, by now, prices should have gone up as we are in the ember period. This is so unfavorable mehn. Much respect, sir. |

feran15:Baba, some businesses start yielding profits for investors in a short period after the establishment. Some would take a longer period to start getting ROI. Anyone who wants to invest in e-hailing business in Nigeria must have a high business IQ. If you're not muscular, no put chest. If no investor is ready to come into the business, make drivers just accept their fate with just bolt and Indrive. Cos this government wey we get so, dem no send una. But one thing is for sure, some company would break into the market. Only Bolt and Indrive can't run it forever. This is for sure. Much respect, baba. |
