The OK Movement earlier scheduled a 2 million-man march for Peter Obi on 1st October

CLARIFICATION ON POLICE PRESS RELEASE

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command wishes to clarify that the directive contained in its press release concerning the rescheduling of previously approved political activities scheduled for 1st October 2026 does not affect schoolchildren and students participating in the Independence Day match-past at the stadium.

Parents, guardians, schools, teachers and members of the public are therefore advised not to be alarmed or misinterpret the earlier press release.

The Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and will continue to provide adequate security for lawful activities across the State.

Normal schoolchildren and students’ match-past activities at the stadium remain unaffected.

Whatever name you choose to dress it up in, today should be reserved for national observance not deliberately hijacked for unrelated streets processions when countless other days are available.

.The Akwa Ibom State Police Command should know that freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and association are guaranteed under the Nigerian Constitution. They must not take advantage of prior police notification for the sensitization to distort or disrupt it.

I agree with you they should have rescheduled the rally in honour of the independence day celebrations but I don't also think they breached any law of nigeria to warrant their arrest.
