Hope you know every state in Nigeria had a functional airport in the 70s? Poor maintenance culture messed things up. You can't talk about commercialisation or industrialization in Nigeria without mentioning airports in every state, same goes with railways
Wrong

You are wasting your explanations on someone who supports a fella who spent 8 years cutting grasses of schools without building a single new one.

He has never experienced good governance where he come from and so this airport upgrade development is enough to turn his head upside down.
Yeah, he supports a fraud who supposedly saved State Government money in a bank in which he has interest while Waterworks workers were owed salaries and doctors were on strike. Many have not noticed that Peter Obi is not a team player! His likes are like Adolf Hitler who are power hungry for bizarre reasons !

The headline is misleading. Instead of saying it as it is "Upgrade of Ibadan International Airport" you choose the misleading headline "New Ibadan International Airport" just because you want to carry our propaganda.

Let this fraudster continue deceiving the gullible people outside the state. After allegedly siphoning ₦50 billion from the Federal Government, he has apparently found yet another avenue to drain public funds.

Seriously, why should a state spend such an outrageous amount on a Federal Government asset? Anyone applauding this without questioning the figures is simply refusing to see what is right in front of them. Look at the project in that video and be honest: does it remotely look like a ₦2 billion project, let alone ₦50 billion, excluding the land, which already belongs to the government?

What exactly are we paying for? A few blocks, offices, staircases and casement windows? Our local engineers and contractors could execute this kind of project without anywhere near such an astronomical bill. This is how public money disappears: inflate the cost, parade the project before the cameras, and expect everyone to clap. And sadly, some people will defend it simply because they have chosen to worship politicians rather than question how their money is being spent.

Nigeria, my country. We keep wondering why we remain where we are, yet we continue to tolerate the same culture of impunity. Until those entrusted with public office are made to account for every naira they spend, these politicians will continue treating public funds as their personal inheritance.

Your comment full of gibberish, ignorance and childishness. Is it only the building that makes up the airport?
Do you know what it cost to install modern equipment for the control tower, radar, instrument landing systems and other navigation systems, fire department, etc? To you the total cost is the building. Look at him sounding like a quantity surveyor.
All they do is to criticize without thinking.

Another International Airport when Lagos own is close by? Meanwhile the roads are in terrible condition and the state infrastructure has barely changed since the 1980s.

Who cursed us in Africa abeghuh
God bless you!

They killed education in the Southwest so people won’t critically reason again!

Imagine what a an acclaimed UNILAG graduate embarked on despite the woes of the state.

Why I have always been of the opinion that a degree does not prove you have brains and intellectually sound

How many people travel out of ibadan on a regular basis for there to be an airport costing 41 billion especially as Lagos and Ogun havehuh41 billion that could have been used to lift his people out of poverty. Be like airport na the new corruption racket.
How many people travel out of Aba? People that think that people travel only in their region.

SW region is still backward. They should go to anambra and see what is called airport built by obiano.

Besides ibadan needs good roads, not an airport
Ok we don hear face your Anambra. We are backward yet they won't stop coming to the SW in droves.

It is not part of the economy!

It is not a determinant of any metric about the economy.

95% of inhabitants of the state can’t comfortably afford a flight ticket!

It’s not even a destination as it is an open air concentration camp called a State out of pity!

Yes! It had old glory that has already been lost!

How many Nigerian airlines will ply that route on daily basis? Don’t even let us go international cos none will be there!

I repeat! It is not part of the economy and will end up being a junk yard for decommissioned aircrafts!

Oyo state Airport! Who knows there!

The project started in his first term. Dualisation of the airport road was done. It was even wike that came to commission the road coupled with planes being able to refuel in Ibadan. Unlike before that they will come with full tank. Hence came Airpeace flying the Ibadan route

The expansion of the runway and others started in his second term so it isnt a new project. It was being done one step at a time

Travellers in Oyo and osun states and Kwara states wont have to.go to Lagos to fly intermationally, they will fly from Ibadan when the work is done in December
Will the airport be verified to meet international standards? How many international airlines have shown an interest in using the airport? I can see this as a White Elephant in the making... N40b that could've been used to directly benefit the residents ... new or renovated health centers... schools ... potable water ... constant electricity supply ... agriculture ......plough the money into any such area and many would reap the benefit and the State show some progress. International travellers will use the same airports they are using now ... and even if they want to use their own ... they can't because the airlines will not be operating there. How much revenue will the airport take in? ... will it cover maintenance cost? This movie played out several times before

Ogun state built an airport! Is it not funny to you? Then Oyo state rehabilitating a junkyard that was never 10% operational.

Airport that create job is not part of the economy what a shame. That statement alone will not make me to read the whole comment and I already asked you not to educate me. With that statement that "airport is not part of economy" you don't worth to be engaged. Have a good day.

Stop the misinformation jo. Which traveler will fly from Ibadan? Will you force airlines to fly Ibadan routes, if it’s not profitable for them?

Ilorin has its own ‘international’ airport and no international flights there, other than Haj, which is seasonal.

This is a misplaced priority. Ibadan and Osun don’t need any airport.

This is built for their selfish interests and to syphon resources.

Oyo State doesn’t need to waste N40billion on something like this.

Spending that on highly mechanized agricultural ecosystem alone would have helped on food sufficiency and spur agro-raw materials processing and value chain addition. This would have provided opportunities for people than yeye airport Seyi is spending on. The guy is a total misfit in Oyo State.
