To compare Obi to President Tinubu is like comparing apple to lime.

The template Tinubu laid in Lagos is what his successors have been following for decades. The prosperity of Lagos state is why every Nigerian want to have a share of it's common wealth.

Lagos is about to have 24/7 electricity. Unlike Peter Obi that saved money for development of Anambra in the bank, Tinubu made Lagos the 6 largest economy in Africa.

No wonder Obi himself relocated to Lagos. He can only become agulu president

It’s like the young man Sanwo Jydo is now trying to start work. Once there’s light, the next thing is business, industries and jobs.

And when there’s surplus jobs, the next thing is prosperity and social harmony.
Yes indeed. Lagosians will become richer and SME'S, biggest employers of Labour, will proliferate. Exciting if achieved.

Of course wages will increase but living cost, like rent etc, will increase.in Lagos. Yet it is not a bad trade-off for living in a City that is the London or New York of Africa.

Lagos will begin experiencing outwards migration and decongestion as Nigerians move to cheaper State, as I saw happen.with London over years, because of high cost of living and the fact very modern States tend to be well-policed and organised.

Meaning the States will better-tackle squating, sleeping under bridges, homelessness, builing of illegal structures and 'pako houses' etc, that defaces a City and increase crime, will be things of the past as we see Wahab Tokunbo, Lagos commission of the environment, implementing.

Good all in all. These are some if the good things constant electricity will deliver.

What huge investment are you talking about for a sector that is already giving us adequate power as promised by Fashola, Buhari, Tinubu and other APC ministers etc since 2015, after the master strategist begged his 2011 expired Fulani soldier to make Jonathan a one term president?

None of them is truly ready to fix problems we are facing in that sector.

Any Nigerian president that can’t fix power problems can’t score more than 20%, in own grading o.
Fixing that problem alone carries more than 40% of problems we face.

uncle it seems cost reflective tarrif is the only thing you learnt before you escape class

there are process,/stages in production/marketing/delivery

you cant jump to cost reflective tariff, except some stage have being met
1. Adequate capacity and guaranteed optimal service
2. Scale of measurement must be visible present ... prepaid meter to All customers

3. Then you can charge cost reflectiive tariff

Buhmiind you even in the most developed countries cost refevtive tariff and service reflective are working, Govt don't hands off they make extra effort to subsidy recent example is

Germany took a loan to subsidize energy till 2028 ..you can imagine and here Tinubu is doing all he can to extinct subsidy ..it is bad

never in my life will i think a day will come Someone will tell us subsidy is wrong and bad for a nation. france subsidize, is it uk, russia,, Us Govt don't hands off energy security
Okay, enjoy your darkness.

Meanwhile, Prof Nnaji has said it over and over again. Cost reflective tarrif cheesy

LOL...until government allows cost reflective tarrifs, they won't be able to attract the money and investment needed to give Lagos 24 hours light.

Self deceit indeed. cheesy
You know fairly more about the power sector than others but your hatred of Tinubu and his Government, that lead to your criticism of all he does, makes you miss one critical fact I have pointed to you a dozen time over the bolded !!!!

I have told you the bolded is what the Government is doing with creating bands innovatively from A to E, as no previous Governmenthas attempted, to allow subsidy be removed from the power sector fully over time so cost-reflectibe tariffs, because the norm for Nigeria Such cannot be done instantly, everywhere and overnight though.

Look at the excerpt culled from the article below making this precise point I have to you many times yet you reappear making same redundant point like a broken record every single time!!!

Target: Aligning tariffs with actual supply quality rather than forcing uniform high costs on unserved communities.
For the absence of doubt, FG has removed susbisdy fully from band A with other bands to experience same in future so every corner of Nigeria will be paying cost-reflective Tariffs by 2027 when subsidy has been removed across all bands.

The reasons tariff removal are gradual and being phased in over time using bands, are cogent and clearly explained below and a layman will come here daily making expert and disparaging experts when you don't have 10% of their knowledge!!

Please which President since 1999 has done what Tinubu has in the power sector for you to come here and lie daily because you know many don't have the knowledge they should? Name the President and what they did !!

Simple and reasonable concept, any reasonable person will accept , is that FG and Nigeria needs cost-reflective Tariff to be achieved with full subsidy removal.

That is not feasible with removal across the entire Nigeria same day and everywhere whether in Ikoyi or a rural village in Osun !!!remove subsidy from all band simultaneously and most will not be able to afford the increase as rich homes and businesses can.

The approach is correct. As the economy improves and wages increase also, ability of Nigerians to pay higher Tariffs will increase. Removal cannot be done at the same.

The point made below I have made to you many times yet on the next thread you will come and drop same annoying statement, I.e FG not removing Tariff, when fact is FG has done so for band A and plans fully removal for all bands by 2027.

It is frigging anyone to be dealing with this level of obtuseness from so many here that stems from hatred of some leaders whose actions you can't ever look ator judge critically and objectively.

What percentage is fixing the problems in NNPC refineries, so that Tinubu can crash the price below N185 he promised, if he can’t reach the N70 that APC said is the upper limit in 2015?

That’s the year Tinubu begged Buhari out of retirement to make Jonathan a one term president.

The electricity problem of Nigeria is never generation but government subsidizing when they can't pay subsidy and refused to removed it and still holding on to transmission.

Nigerian need 40-60GW of electricity and we generate at best less than 6GW of electricity and you say the problem is not generation but subsidy!?

Who told you this?

Subsidy was estimated to be about ₦1.63 trillion between 2015–2019.
Between 2020-2023 subsidy was reduced to about ₦144 billion.

By April 2024, subsidy was removed entirely for the so-called band A and despite the general INCREASE in tariff, the government said that subsidy was back to ₦1.949 trillion subsidy obligation for 2024.

If this isn't corruption, tell me the formula of this witchcraft looking at the Tariff according to year

2015 ₦25/kWh
2016-2017 ₦29/kWh
2017-2019. ₦31/kWh
2020-2021. ₦45/kWh
2022 About ₦58–64/kWh
2023 About ₦60–66/kWh
2024 ₦100/kWh
2025-2026 Band A: generally around ₦200–₦225/kWh., Band B: roughly ₦160–₦190/kWh., Band C: roughly ₦130–₦150/kWh., Bands D and E: approximately ₦35–₦125/kWh.

If you are still convinced it is a subsidy problem you need to explain how 6GW can be shared successfully by the population of Nigeria when we need 40-60GW.

We deserve APC .

Why did they not do this the before now ? Why are they doing it in a campaign/pre-election period ?

If you are still convinced it is a subsidy problem you need to explain how 6GW can be shared successfully by the population of Nigeria when we need 40-60GW.
Electricity has three sectors with three different sets of players.
1. Generation which has been privatized since president Jonathan era.
2. Transmission which is handled by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
3. Distribution which is privatized.
The 6GW you are talking about is the transmission capacity of TCN which the federal government. Nigeria's generation capacity is about 14GW and the TCN 6GW is the reason there is always a grid collapse because it is too small to carry the electricity generated.
About 80% of Nigeria's electricity is generate revenued from natural gas which is subsidize by government and Band A subsidy is more of power subsidy removal between Discos and the federal government. The electricity used by Band A users is still generated from subsidized natural gas.
About tariffs, me and you know the exchange rate between 2015 and 2026 combined with tax increment, excess naira in circulation etc.

The problem of Nigeria is actually generation and not transmission.

National grid collapse occurs due to overload of the Generating system when for example there is a short or an instability caused by a sudden change in demand. The generation system is not robust enough to take the instability hence generators begin to shut down in quick cascades.

It is like powering a house with I better Pass my Neighbour Generator any instability is felt on the generator eg. Someone putting on an Electric Iron or someone switching off a heavy electrical equipment.

This is the problem from the Technical Point of View. Our cascaded Generators are operating at their maximum capacity. Any instability in power demand is felt heavily by the generator. It take just one of them to fail to drag down the remaining connected on the network.

This is the problem sir. Under generation of Power.

Unfortunately, your government went to privatise the Distribution Sector as if that was the problem.

About Tarrif wrt the exchange rate, it is still the fault of the government. They felt is is better to squeeze the people rather than repair the economy. Wickes People!!
