Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, the governor of Benue State, is a suspended Catholic priest.

Bishop John Cardinal Onaiyekan has spoken about Governor Alia’s suspension, explaining that he failed to meet the conditions set by the Catholic Church before entering politics.

According to the bishop, the Catholic Church has specific rules that priests must comply with before they can enter partisan politics. Reverend Father Alia was suspended by his bishop after failing to meet those requirements.

The bishop further explained that Catholic Church rules place strict restrictions on priests, including bishops, participating in politics unless they meet the stipulated conditions.

A Reverend father from the SE called for decorum and tolerance from among the obidients towards other candidates and their supporters and he was insulted to high heaven for simply calling on Obidients to behave themselves.

If you are not a Catholic or if you don't know the ethics of the Catholic clergymen then you keep quiet. As a Catholic priest and you want to participate fully in politics, there are some measures you have to agree with the church authorities before anything, no one is stopping you from joining politics but obey the rules which Governor Hyacinth knows. Catholic church is not like some other churches who are not organised. Mbaka you are referring to is not a political party member neither is he contesting for a political position, but if he wishes to, he knows the processes to follow.

Moreover, Governor Hyacinth is still a Rev. Father till his dead, whether on suspension or not, the only difference currently is he cannot be allowed to practice any roll of Rev.Father till after his Tenure or if he retired from politics and make intention to practice again, he has to undergo some certain processes which will be certified from Rome that he is fit to start his rolls as Rev. Father. So my brother be guarded, you don't just come online to dabble against everything that affects your party (APC).

Neither you nor Alia are fit to lace the shoes of the Cardinal. He was at the forefront of the struggle for return to democracy and has remained a fearless voice without fear or favour
More importantly, if you had been a bit restrained to listen to the clip, you'll have heard his clear explanation of the position of the church of which he's a Cardinal member concerning a priest joining partisan politics and that would have saved you the embarrassment of making a jejune and false claim in a desperate bid to ruin his legitimate comment on the position of Alia's priesthood as it presently stands in conflict with its assumed marriage with politics.

Funny enough that you are totally ignorant of what you are arguing about, I tried to put you through but you are still taking it maybe because the Rev. Father is an APC governor. His suspension process didn't start today, he has been given enough time to do the needful but he couldn't meet up till this year Catholic Bishops decided to sanction him. My brother keep sentiment aside first, let's tell ourselves the truth. The Rev. Father you are trying to protect knows the truth in all of this but he chose to play stubbornness.

If you have been following the political journal of Rev. Father Hyacinth, you will understand that he disobeyed the process. The last grace that was given to him was due this year before they sanctioned him. I'm not a Rev.Father but I'm privileged to have a cousin as Rev. Father that's how I got these information on how they operate.

Remember, Rev.Father Hyacinth after his political career still have the opportunity to preside in the Holy Masses. Go and ask questions before you start arguing ignorantly on some issues.
