it's not too late. You can still learn a skill or do the boi-boi. All you need is to decide, wear humility like a cloth, throw away shame, take action, then marry patience, tolerance and forbearance. Give yourself 7 years, serve wealth, and your end will be glorious. Your children won't grow up hungry, destitute and frustrated, and your woman/women won't have to endure hardship and harassment of all kinds in order to put food on your table.
God bless you
but it would have been easier to settle him then than now.

And you think it is too late now? No, it is not too late my friend no matter how old you are or what your responsibilities are now.
I secured FG job just last year, fifteen years after I graduated from the university. But did I stay idle in between those 15 years? No! I hustled real hard despite the fact that I asked myself the same question you're asking yourself now. This FG job I'm having now, I don't even really need it anymore but I'm grateful that I could finally work with my certificates.
Let me tell you, it is the same question jobless graduates ask themselves very often.

Unfortunately, if you actually went to school but came out with only regrets then I’m not sure you’d have come out better at any of those other specialities.
Forget story, Nigerian environment is not ideal environment for graduates without resources or connections.

I would say this to you:

Don't spend the next 10 years regretting the last 10 years.

Maybe you could have done things differently. Maybe you would have learned a skill earlier, started a business, gone into tech, trades, sales, content creation or another field. But you don't know for certain that everything would have worked out the way you imagine.

What you do know is that you have today.

Take the lesson from your past and act on it.

And to graduates, this is something I want to say very seriously: Your degree is no longer enough.

The world is changing extremely fast. AI is changing jobs. Technology is changing how businesses operate. Companies are becoming more interested in what you can actually do, not just what you studied.

So while you are pursuing your degree, learn a practical skill alongside it.

Learn digital marketing.
Learn sales.
Learn data analysis.
Learn accounting.
Learn coding.
Learn graphic design.
Learn project management.
Learn content creation.
Learn AI tools.
Learn a trade.
Learn how to communicate and negotiate.

You don't have to abandon education. You need to complement education with practical value.

A certificate can tell an employer what you studied.

Your skills show them what you can do.

And if you are already a graduate and struggling to find your footing, don't be ashamed to start learning again. You are not too old to acquire a skill.

The goal is not to have a degree *or* a skill.

The goal is to have education, skills, experience and the ability to create value.

Times are changing fast. Don't wait for the world to change before you change with it.

Young people need to stop going to school just for the sake of it. Study a professional course that you can make something out of. School no be scam. It all depends on what you study and God’s grace. While you go to school also pray for grace to make something out of it. Also, it’s very important to learn a skill while you’re at it.
Re: I Regretted Going To School by Thewrath:
itzadorable333:
igba boi has no age restriction. The pre requisite to it is simply, humility and readiness to learn and concentration. This is what the Master is looking for, not your age. The reason why they tend to harbor more youngsters is because they are still pliable and less experienced in the ways of the world so it's easier for the master to control and mould them. But an adult who is humble, sharp minded and ready to learn is like gold. For the master soon delegates authority and responsibilities to that adult in no distant time. And this is a goldmine of resource that needs to be explored by our educated Igbo students and ex-students. Especially the vast unemployed among them. They can bring various levels of understanding acquired from their education, combine it with the igba boi experience, then create a refined and more sophisticated skill set or knowledge or system from there which complements and further enhances positively the role of
the igba boi system among our people as well as expand and multiply its benefit
The age restriction is more of a psychological thing than a formal requirement. No matter your level of humility and readiness to learn,as an adult, many bosses find it difficult to control an adult, who already has a lot of priorities and needs. He is already in a hurry for money and success as an adult.
At that age,he is already prioritizing money, women, ego, and pride and can easily mistake corrective disciplining as maltreatment because of his age.

Igbaboi boi requires some level of training humility which can only or mostly be found in teenagers.

What do you study at school?

Obviously if you study mass communication, psychology, libary science and those courses that everyone are doing, after graduation, it will be filled with regrets

If you study medicine, nursing, dentistry and science courses like petrochemical engineering or even geology, you will always get jobs maybe not at first application but you will eventually get one

Always go for courses that are rear but has high demands in the market

Never ever study courses where everyone want to study

For instance mass communication..lot of students but demand in the market is low

Medicine, few students and lot of demand in the market
Medicine is almost expiring, nursing is becoming more lucrative than medicine today.

Studying medicine in Nigeria now is not as lucrative and promising as it was 10 20 years ago.

If its in advanced countries, especially USA, then its cool but you cannot study medicine directly from secondary school in the US, you must first do biology before you can start medicine.

In summary, I cant advice any young Nigerian now to study medicine because its no longer lucrative in Nigeria and to use it to migrate abroad is becoming more and more difficult by the day, so instead of medicine let them go for medicine and other medical related courses

Yeah. I know what you mean. But when a language is losing some of its vocabulary, it’s our responsibility (if we are aware) to put a stop to it. Languages should be growing their vocabulary, not letting it dwindle.

Igba boi have a hidden or unseen age restriction which like u rightfully said, its more of a psychological screening that only the oga knows.

No grounded Igbo business man looking for nwa odibo or nwa boi will accept a man above 25 years, not possible. Even his wife wont accept it unless he is the Oga brother or relative they want to assist lol

Very correct, but language still adapt to human evolution as would see Oxford add some informal English words and even slangs to Oxford English dictionary grin

Fortunately not every adult is in a hurry to make money, or have women, neither is every adult egotistic or proud. There are adults who don't tick those boxes, those are they who go on to become successful too from the Igba boi experience. There are many of them. Look and you'll see.

At that age 25 and above, you are already in at period of revelation, some are already thinking of killing their bosses and running with his money or doing ritual, and buying Benz, just like the OP is currently saying he regrets going to school, you can’t find a teenager regretting going to school.

At that age,you are already saddled with girlfriend, parents responsibilities, you shouldn’t even be in your father’s house doing nothing if the country were good.

I didn’t say ALL adults,I said most.
If as an adult, you are not making money and there is no clear pathway for you,why won’t you be in a hurry? even the igba boi is sometimes not guranteed at the end, anything could happen and you loose you 4 to 5 to 6years of igba boi….this is another reason why teenagers are preferred incase things go south, you will still have time.

The tendency of being in a hurry is higher in adults than in teenagers.

THE LORD created no one to lack, for all things were sufficiently available in abundance before Man was created. But because every Man has a Purpose on Earth, it's THE MOST HIGH who determines who will be wealthy or not. It's HE who determines the path to wealth.
No one is created to Lack, but not everyone is created to be Wealthy.

Well that is why "most" adults who are in hurry to make money, end up not getting or getting it only to lose it again through their recklessness or their children's. While most of the few adults who are not in hurry to make money end up wealthy or at least financially and economically established well enough to be able to pass on disciplined wealth creation and sustainance doctrine and legacies to their offspring who pass it on to the next generation, thus building empires and dynasties of Wealth on Earth.
It's a matter of choice, you see.
Not everyone will make it, for it comes with a price.

It is not a crime or illegal to be in a hurry or to be hungry for wealth. What makes it different for people is the age brackets you fall under. The point about igba boi is that it has an unofficial age restriction which I have I have listed the reasons above.

And like I said earlier, the Igbo apprentice guild does not have any age limit or restriction . It's not an Age grade system, its a school system. Is there any age limit or restrictions on schooling? Why is this so hard to comprehend.
Like I said, go and do your research and see whether you won't find adults who went through it as adults and even those who are still undergoing it currently.

You just don’t seem to understand thing about igba boi,you are basing your opinions on theory, rather practical (what works).

Yes,you can find adults who went for nwa boy (and by adults I mean not not more than 25) who went for nwa boi but I have given you reasons in my posts above why there is an unofficial age limit which the bosses follow or are you saying my reasons are invalid even when they represent current realities? The risks are too high for a boss to accept an adult nwa boi as compared to the benefits!

The percentage of bosses that will reject an adult for igba boi is significant higher which makes it a majority.

Do you even know what the “NWA” in nwa boi means? That is reflection of the age category it stands for!

I am confidently saying his chances are very low if he is already above the preferred age limits, and that’s a fact!

Teenagers don’t have have regrets at teenage age when life is just starting. You begin to regret when you have come to an age of realization and that is where the OP is at the moment which will make it difficult for him to adapt to the system….this is what elders see while sitting down.

You are not even confident on your reply, hence this "explanations". Reason is because you don't have experience of what you are trying to claim. You're are only presuming. I wish the OP will declare his age and indicate interest in going the Igba boi way, then let's test something.

I took my time to give you reasons and all you could come up with is that I don’t have experience? You think countering someone’s opinion is by being “brief”? You need established facts, not assumptions from Lagos Ibadan expressway!

Nurses, what are they without doctors and pharmacists?
Do they diagnose?
Most of what they know, they learned by following doctors' instructions.
