Human rights lawyer Femi Falana questions the ₦15 trillion earmarked for the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway amid changes to its proposed route, urging Nigerians to demand accountability and defend every citizen’s right to vote against electoral violence and ethnic discrimination. He also condemned electoral violence, political thuggery, and ethnic discrimination, urging Nigerians to stand together across party and ethnic lines to defend everyone’s right to vote and ensure their votes count. “COASTAL road has now become LAND road….what of the N15trillion earmarked for that road?

Costal highway of fraud and deceit A conduit pipe for looting The N15 trillion naira earmarked for this road has gone into private pocket. I don't blame this government, I blame the Nigerians we warned against this government before the 2023 presidential election .. |

When we argued that it was more sensible to repair the existing inland road linking Lagos with Calabar, Tinubu Data Boyz called us unpatriotic elements & enemies of Nigeria. Now we have been vindicated. Those data Boyz claiming to be patriotic, are actually the real enemies of Nigeria. |

2special:Use your head. Nothing like prayers - the project was clearly a white elephant project. There was zero economic sense in spending trillions on a coastal highway, instead of maintaining existing alternative roads. So it was bound to fail, no need for prayers. |

That's the question worth asking. The APC led government keeps showing it has no regard for its supporters. How can anyone defend this? 15 trillion was budgeted for this road. What drove that valuation in the first place? Government indicates desire to get a project done, contractors do site, terrain and landscape evaluation and come up with a cost. Government then selects a bid from the different bids from different companies that were submitted. But that wasn't done for this project. There was no EIA and no competitive bidding. Government simply awarded this project to Hitech - a company with no pedigree in road construction. The company is assumed to have done assessment of the entire terrain and then submitted it's cost evaluation based on the depth of its findings. If the federal government is announcing a change of terrain now, then how competent was Hitec as a company? What pedigree did that company have to execute Nigeria's biggest road project in the first place? The president drove the allocation of this significant project to his friend. A Lebanese. They have a relationship going back decades. Competence was not a factor in consideration. This is how we got to this point. The government is stepping in to correct the errors of a private firm. An incompetent one at that. This is shameful and has validated the concerns of everyone from the beginning. |

When we ask critical questions like this, some half baked educated illiterates will start writing essays on how the government needs to throw money way doing white elephant projects and pleasing his Lebanese Master. |

APC was never designed for collective prosperity. |

You guys have been shouting no more refinery maintenance, gives us new refinery, now Jagaban heard your cry and decide to give you brand new roads, instead of sinking funds on some roads that have dilapidated to the extent that maintenance makes no economic sense, yet you are still complaining. |

THE AIM OF THE FAKE COASTAL ROAD HAS BEEN ACHIEVED. THE WHOLE IDEA WAS TO BUILD A COASTAL HIGHWAY FROM LAGOS TO OSUN. AFTER-ALL EVERY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PROJECTS IN THIS TINUBU ADMINISTRATION IS DONE IN LAGOS. IF YOU THINK THAT TINUBU HAS EVER CONSIDERED DOING A COASTAL ROAD FROM CALABAR THROUGH NIGER-DELTA, THEN I HAVE A BRIDGE TO SELL. THROUGHOUT APC FEDERAL ADMINISTRATION, TELL ME JUST ONE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PROJECT IN THE WHOLE OF NIGER-DELTA |
