Buhari Saw Tinubu As ‘Bad News’, Resisted His Presidency - Baba-Ahmed by dre11(op): 5:43pm On Oct 18
The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has claimed that former President Muhammadu Buhari resisted pressure from political interests seeking to make President Bola Tinubu his successor because he considered Tinubu’s presidency detrimental to Nigeria.

Baba-Ahmed made the claim at a summit organised by the Northern Elders Forum, where he criticised Tinubu’s administration and urged Nigerians to prevent the president’s ambition for a second term from overriding the national interest.

In a video of the event published on Symfoni’s YouTube channel, the PRP chairman said Nigerians should have questioned the implications of Tinubu’s presidential ambition when he declared “Emilokan”, a Yoruba expression meaning “it is my turn”, during the build-up to the 2023 general election.

“Even Buhari saw Tinubu as bad news for this country. In fairness to him, he is not around him. Buhari resisted some people who insisted it had to be Tinubu,” Baba-Ahmed said.

He questioned the rationale behind the slogan, arguing that the presidency of a country with an estimated population of about 250 million people should not be treated as an entitlement belonging to an individual.

“Nigerians ought to have known there was something wrong the day Tinubu said ‘It’s my turn’. Maybe we missed it,” he said.

“We have a presidency of a country of 250 million people. My turn? To do what? To become president,” he added.

Baba-Ahmed Accuses Tinubu of Poor Performance

The PRP chairman accused Tinubu’s administration of worsening Nigeria’s difficulties, alleging that the country had reached a low point under the president’s leadership.

He argued that the administration had failed across key measures of national performance and warned against allowing Tinubu to secure another term without adequately addressing the country’s challenges.

“He has dragged the country as low as it is possible to go. And it has to stop him. We cannot go below, beyond where we are,” Baba-Ahmed said.

He further accused the president of placing personal political ambition ahead of the welfare of Nigerians.

“We will not allow a president to fulfil an ambition that one individual alone can wreak his country, just to prove that he has the power and the money to do so,” he said.

Baba-Ahmed also faulted Tinubu for allegedly failing to make a personal appeal to Nigerians for a second term, claiming that the president had relied on political allies to promote his re-election campaign.

He criticised governors in the North for what he described as their failure to adequately communicate the region’s economic difficulties and growing public dissatisfaction to the president.

Despite his criticism, Baba-Ahmed expressed confidence that Nigeria would overcome its current challenges, citing the resilience the country had demonstrated during previous national crises.

“We are very resilient people. We have seen crises bigger than this, and we survived it. We survived it, and we will survive this one,” he said.

He added that Nigerians would endure what he described as four years of “abuse, neglect, and plunder” under Tinubu, insisting that the country must survive for the sake of future generations.

PRP Chairman Backs Opposition Coalition Ahead of 2027

On the 2027 presidential election, Baba-Ahmed said opposition parties were working towards a coalition aimed at challenging Tinubu’s re-election bid.

He described the initiative as a serious effort to bring political forces together despite their differences.

“What we have seen is an incredible willingness for politicians to come together and say, let’s put aside some of our differences and see if we can actually create a momentum strong enough to remove this Tinubu,” he said.

Baba-Ahmed urged Nigerians opposed to Tinubu’s re-election to support whoever emerges as the coalition’s presidential candidate.

The proposed alliance comes amid efforts by opposition figures to establish a common front ahead of the 2027 general election. However, reconciling competing political interests and agreeing on a consensus candidate remain among the potential challenges facing the initiative.

Tinubu, who won the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), succeeded Buhari after eight years of APC-led government.

His administration has introduced major economic reforms, including the removal of the petrol subsidy and changes to foreign-exchange management.

Supporters have defended the measures as necessary to stabilise public finances, while the resulting rise in living costs and pressure on household purchasing power have remained major public concerns

There's nothing like Buhari in that matter. The truth is that the powers that be within the presidency then did not want Tinubu to emerge as APC presidential candidate then, they wanted Osinbajo as the flag bearer because they knew that Tinubu is a bad option, and they were seriously ganging up to sideline Tinubu, it was when Tinubu saw the windstorm coming, he then threatened to say what he knows about the rumors of Buhari's demise by making a comment before the primaries in 2022 saying and I quote: "I will expose the man in AsoRock" (you can use your Google). That was how Tinubu held them on their blokos, seeing the desperation and seriousness in Tinubu eager to carry out his threats, they had no option than to appeal to Osinbajo to pull back for Tinubu, that was how Tinubu secured the APC presidential ticket by blackmail.

All these crooks just waited for baba obasanjo 2 tenures to pass, so that they can continue from abacha government. I was among the Nigerians who secretly wished obasanjo government would come new set of 3 terms.

Buhari is the greatest leadership failure in Nigeria history... It would take 30 years just undo the damage that man did to Nigeria. The terrorism he encouraged before entering Aso Rock is already on it's second decade.

May the temperature increase wherever part of hell he is in right now. Amen.

If people support a candidate simply because of his turn in our tribalistic politics of zoning and rotation to share the national cake of corruption at local, state and federal levels both in the legislative and executive branches, then how can we ever have a prosperous country with law abiding citizens enjoying government services and public utilities?

How can we ever get these basic things, instead of doing japa to oyinbo places that hardly tolerate our presence huh

Tinubu knew nothing!!! You're clearly underestimating the powers of a sitting president! Even if Tinubu knew something, all Buhari needed to do was to pick him up by the DSS and keep him away! He could die in detention and nothing will happen!

Buhari that let everyone rob Nigeria. The was planing to run to his ancestral home in Niger until that place also collapsed from corruption started in Nigeria under Buhari.

He gave Tinubu the presidency in a rigged election hoping Nigeria would crash and burn.

That same Buhari is now saint?

Chai....this country... undecided

Mr Datti whatever. BUHARI DID NOT BUDGET FOR FUEL SUBSIDY FOR THE YEAR AFTER HE WAS LEAVING, AND TINUBU REFUSED TO BORROW ANOTHER $10 BILLION FOR SUBSIDY IN 2023.

SO GO AN GIVE TINUBU THE $10 BILLION SUBSIDY MONEY, SO WE CAN RETURN TO THE "GOOD OLD DAYS".

CORRUPT ELEMENT LOOKING FOR MONEY TO TO LOOT.

How can Buhari be the greatest failure, when we have the master strategist in a-looter propaganda politics as his successor?

The man who begged Buhari out of retirement to make Jonathan a one term president in 2015, which was four years after calling the kachalla soldier expired.

Tinubu’s begging trip to Kaduna was after their party invited terrorists to destroy our country.

Where did you read that he is a saint?

The assessment is that he is better by far than the 90 year old incompetent rogue who succeeded him.

Do you see the difference?

Anyway, Obasanjo and even Ribadu knew that the Lagos lootocracy master planner is the worst thing in Nigeria.

5 mind-boggling revelations from Obasanjo’s ‘My Watch’

5. Tinubu was one of the most corrupt, of the 36 governors

Obasanjo never got along too well with former Lagos state governor, Bola Tinubu, and unsurprisingly, Tinubu got a mention in the former’s book.

Obasanjo revealed that then EFCC boss, Nuhu Ribadu tried to investigate almost all the state governors during his tenure but that of the 28 confirmed to be manifestly corrupt or tainted one way or the other, Tinubu’s case was one of the worst.

My problem with people making such statements is why didn't he say this before the elections? Seems like he's saying it now because he has a motive .... to gain votes. I do agree with him on it was not smart to vote for him because he said it was his turn ... which clearly shows entitlement.
If someone has half of a brain .... there is no way he should be voting fTinubu after seeing how very well he has managed the country .

Oh please SHUT UP.

Tinubu is by far the Most Competent LEADER in Nigerian history.

Subsidy is GONE.

STOP DWELLING IN THE PAST FAKE LIFE OF FUEL SUBSIDY.

This country cannot develop while subsidising its biggest source of income.

The country is EMERGING from it now, with more money to build the economy than we've had in DECADES.

GO ROUND THE STATES AND SEE DEVELOPMENT AND PROJECTS EVERYWHERE.

ENEMIES OF PROGRESS!
