FSBoperator:Sadly this post has a lot of salient truths in it. This is something that Obidients have caused and I don't think they have thought it through at all. We all need, not just Ndigbo and Ndi Yoruba in Lagos by the way, to realise that politicians will come and go and we will all still remain (hopefully together). Not all Ndigbo are Obidients and vice versa. |

Christistruth03:well, happiness is free. Buying land, settling in another area of a country and becoming part of that community is the biggest tool of integration. It's the opposite of apartheid. That's why societies that discourage integration prevent such. Jews buy up lands in the West Bank and the so called Palestinian authority are seriously worried and has even enacted death sentence to mitigate it. The southwest wants integration and they're getting it. The southwest fought for three years to prevent Igbos from leaving Nigeria and even crafted policies that sabotaged infrastructural development such as port in the East which severely affected industrialization along the eastern corridor. This forced massive Igbo migration to Lagos. This is the integration which you wanted by all means and now, you have it. Don't cry. You cannot approbate and reprobate! |

Armaggedon:Yoruba are more in PH by far than Igbo in Lagos by percentage and they are not all over the internet in the same way Igbos are doing. They are not begging for integration or forcing themselves on the locals. Therefore what kind of integration is it that Igbos want? Igbos are nothing in Lagos compared to the Yoruba in PH |

Which group is more important to their residence? Yoruba in PH or Igbos in Lagos? These kinds of discussions are important because if there is understanding there will be less animosity and etc. In the old Eastern region of Nigeria Port Harcourt is the most cosmopolitan big city while in the old Western region of Nigeria, Lagos metropolis is the most cosmopolitan big city. Rivers state as a whole using NIN registration figures is around eighty percent or a bit less of Oyo state. Therefore if Oyo state is between ten and eleven million population then Rivers will be around 8.5 million and one should expect PH to be close to 4 million in population. Lagos metropolis on its part is around 17 million people while Ibadan will be around five million. Lagos state (not metropolis) is reported to have over 3000 hotels, Ibadan has over 600 while PH has over 500 all according to the internet. The big difference between Lagos and PH or Ibadan is the population. Population is the first strength of any city. PH is traditionally owned by the people of the old Eastern region including Ikwerre, Ijaw and maybe others while the Lagos metropolis is owned by mainly the Awori people PH Population 4 million plus Big Yoruba led or owned businesses headquartered or with operational headquarters in Port Harcourt paying a lot of workers 1. Conoil producing 2.Sam and Sara Wears 3.Aradel refinery 4. Debyl limited 5.Notore Chemicals 6.Solewart Pipe and Metals 7. Paga 8. Cakasa Nigeria 9.Custodian Insurance 10. Novatel 11. AIICO Insurance 12. Globacom Nigeria Then there are thousands of SMEs including hotels, schools, website developers, artisans, traders, butchers, fashion designers, law firms, accounting firms, architects, oil servicing firms, traders, commercial drivers and etc Lagos metropolis Population - 17 million Big Igbo founded or owned businesses with headquarters or operational facility in Lagos. 1. Coscharis group 2.Air Peace 3.Emzor 4. Seplat 5.Zinox 6.United Nigeria Airlines 7. Peace mass transit 8.Nestoil I did not include banks and random group of companies that are fairly common Then of the 52 markets that are in Lagos at least five will have Igbo majority including Alaba which will be over sixty percent or close to, Ladipo, Trade fair complex and etc. 27 markets in Lagos are plank markets and there are still other markets like food, cattle, building materials and etc then there can be smaller shopping complexes but real markets are just around 52 and not up to ten are dominated by Igbos. In PH, practically all butchers would be Yoruba and there are still other jobs like that We also have Igbos doing all jobs in Lagos just like any other group and just like the Yoruba do in the Igbo cities. They have hotels, law firms, accounting firms and etc as you would expect in a city like Lagos. So from the information above, each city has its identity and people from all over are resident there, they work there and there is no need for what many Igbos do online in form of saying Lagos was not developed by the Yoruba or it is not a Yoruba city . So far it was not your personal money used to build Lagos bridges, roads and ports then you have no reason to complain. If it is your personal money you can ask to be refunded. The records are there that from 1914 to at least 1970 or maybe1967 Nigeria was taking from Yoruba land and not the other way round. Who will now pay back all that? We were founded by Britain and like Britain, Nigeria is an amalgam of nations. An English man can never become the Scottish first minister nor be elected into the Welsh parliament unless under special circumstances. However anyone with a British passport is welcome throughout Britain. Anyone with a Nigerian passport can live anywhere in Nigeria and also contest elections and they are also free to relocate en masse to anywhere in Nigeria and there is no need to ask for more than that. What needs to change is the idea that if only one person remains in a state as a resident and worker there, the state can still produce three senators and the allocated number of representatives. No group will agree that it's traditional land become or be designated as the property of all. Not the Ikwerre, not the Gwari and etc in Abuja nor the Awori but they will agree with what the constitution says and not with more than that. It is all for decorum and order. Anyone can contest election anywhere but a Yoruba man contesting election in PH should not rank himself higher than a Chinese Nigerian doing the same. If the Yoruba is not agreeable with the locals in PH, he should relocate because if there is any problem, he will leave everything behind whether he paid for it or not. So if there is any issue with the locals let him bail out when he is still alive to tell the story |
