DSS Arrests Rilwan Olawale, NDC Mobilizer In Lagos by givedemwotowoto(op): 3:57pm On Oct 25
This young man, Rilwan Olawale, an NDC mobilizer on the streets of Lagos, was allegedly arrested at his Lagos residence by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) over his support for Peter Obi - Kwankwaso, and campaign against President Bola Tinubu.

According to reports circulating online, armed DSS officials stormed his home and took him away, leaving his mother traumatized. This incident has sparked serious questions about freedom of political expression in Nigeria under President Tinubu.

Update:
There are indications he's currently being held at DSS office, Ikeja, Lagos.

Reactions and public outcry following his abduction:

Dr Mo (Moses Paul) - Global Coordinator, Obidient Movement:
It is confirmed that Mr. Rilwan Olawale (@richone090) was taken into custody by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS). The Nigerian authorities must immediately disclose his whereabouts, the reason for his detention, and the legal basis for holding him.

@OfficialDSSNG, guarantee his safety, inform his family, and respect his fundamental rights. If there is no lawful basis for his detention, release him immediately.

OPPOSING THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT A CRIME! No Nigerian should face intimidation or unlawful detention for expressing dissent or supporting an opposition movement.

I call on the DSS and @PoliceNG to act urgently, uphold the rule of law, and ensure Rilwan’s rights are protected.

His freedom matters. His safety cannot wait. FREE RILWAN NOW!

Dr. Moses Paul (Dr. Mo)
Global Coordinator, Obidient Movement

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (ADC Governorship Candidate, Lagos):
I am deeply concerned by reports of the alleged arrest of Rilwan Olawale, an Obidient in Lagos, reportedly by the Department of State Services (DSS).

The circumstances surrounding Rilwan’s reported arrest, including the reasons for his detention and the legal basis for it, remain unclear.

I, therefore, call on the DSS. @OfficialDSSNG to immediately clarify the situation and, if it is responsible for his detention and there are no lawful grounds to hold him, release him without delay.

If any allegations exist against him, they must be addressed through due process, not arbitrary detention or intimidation.

I maintain that no Nigerian should be arrested, detained or intimidated for their political beliefs, affiliations or peaceful expression.

Our democracy cannot thrive if citizens live in fear of exercising their fundamental rights.

Security agencies exist to protect Nigerians, not to make citizens afraid of their own country.

I will continue to monitor developments and seek clarity on this matter.

Our democracy must never become a system where dissent is treated as a crime and citizens are punished for exercising their constitutional rights.
iDAN:
People should be mobilising for a protest. Please alert the NDC leadership that a supporter was taken by DSS officers overnight. The leadership needs to act urgently, demand answers and push for his safe release. This madness must not stand!
Son of Ayo:
I'm at @richone090's house right now.
His mother is traumatised
The @OfficialDSSNG stormed his house like a thief brandishing heavy guns and basically kidnap this young man for no crime whatsoever.

Is campaigning against Tinubu noe a crime?
#FreeRichOne
EiE Nigeria:
Reports of Rilwan Olawale’s alleged arrest from his home in Lagos raise serious concerns about due process and the protection of fundamental rights.

We urge the DSS to clarify his whereabouts and the circumstances surrounding the incident, and to ensure his access to legal counsel and family.

Every Nigerian deserves the protection of the law, regardless of their views or affiliations.

Nigerians have no choice but to be brave, unite and defend themselves against intimidation and violence

And never forget!

When all this political dust settles, all these people who were used to commit atrocities against the people must be brought to justice. All of them.

So the demented Peter Obi can't pay the required signage fees to erect his billboards in Lagos, electing instead to use these malnourished boys to walk under hot sun for peanuts.

Classless agulu thief.

He should count himself lucky because being arrested by DSS for opposing the president is one of the easiest way to fame.

If he is smart he can cash out big from it,just contact lots of influencers to help make it go viral and start a GoFundMe account for his release, tag vdm,tag sowere and watch him cash out big. grin

Are you aware of the crimes he committed before asking for DSS to be neutral? What if those on the opposition have mobilized and harmed him seriously when he was destroying the posters and billboards of other parties, would you not come here to blame the same security agencies?

That dude was committing the crime, recording himself and tagging DSS to come and do their worst on social media. So, why should he not be arrested? That you are supporting an opposition doesn't give you the right to destroy and deface the campaign material of others. He's not above the law and the law will be used to deal with him.

Tinubu seems not to be the one doing all these things because it is clear from what happened at Kaduna APC rally that the man is not the one in charge but some people around him are using him to hold on to Presidential power to the detriment of Nigerians angry

What Tinubu is introducing into Nigeria politics will make many of you cry blood in future.

You know you don't know how to tolerate things and you keep supporting nonsense.
