Because Buhari was running against candidates in the PDP which had Northerners as its major stakeholders and enjoyed bloc votes in the Southeast, Southsouth and Northcentral. Can Tinubu say the same? Take away the Southwest votes from Buhari’s tally in 2015 and he would still have emerged with the highest votes cast. If the Southwest can make anyone president, why didn't they do so when Tinubu supported Atiku, Ribadu and Olu Falae in 1999 and lost? Don't forget that Obasanjo and Yar'adua won their elections without Southwestern support. The Southwest was in opposition for years until Tinubu saw an opportunity with the Northern revolt and exodus from the PDP and seized it by throwing Jonathan, his Southern brother, under the bus. The rest is history.
