Nigeria’s Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has opened investigations into seven people named in the Panama Papers and Pandora Papers, Premium Times reports, citing sources inside the bureau and an aide to its chairman. They are Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate; former Senate Presidents Bukola Saraki and David Mark; former Aviation Minister Stella Oduah; former Delta State Governor James Ibori; retired judicial officer Stella Ogene; and the late former Bayelsa State Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha.

The leaks alleged that they held offshore companies or assets while in public office. Owning an offshore company is not illegal in itself, but public officers must declare their assets and may not run private businesses or keep foreign bank accounts. The bureau has no official spokesperson. If it finds breaches, it can prosecute at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

Also today: the Independent National Electoral Commission has put the preliminary voter register online at display.inecnigeria.org, days after missing the legal deadline, and says the final register will be published on 15 December. Nigeria’s only confirmed Ebola patient and her husband were flown to Switzerland on Monday, and the health minister says the outbreak could be declared over as early as 7 December. A court in Abuja has also ordered former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai to enter his defence in his phone-tapping trial.

I have been expecting to read this a long time ago. I know the APC in their panic mode must use everything in there disposal whether true or not to attack other opposition candidates. We will see how it will end.

The sort of thing Jonathan should have used to stop Buhari and APC, but he was there sprouting all sorts of inanities about how his ambition was not enough to consume lives. What nansense!? Oga!
