if we check u well u are from the east n I can bet obi owed your parents or relatives salaries for months as governor but since u are blinded by tribalism n u want your brother to become governor then u don't care.

Even when it's obvious your brother failed, u still want him to be president
Someone clearly said Migwo which is clearly Edo/Delta lingo and in ur blind rush to justify your 3k per post you said he's from the East

It’s really frustrating to work hard and still not receive your salary on time. Keep records of everything, talk to HR, and don’t hesitate to seek legal advice if the company continues delaying payment.

But not everyone will steal... I have never stole from my employer but I know that some staffs are really stealing and that's why they are not complaining...
As a accountant, it is a stain against my professional ethics...... I just want them to pay us regularly so I don't have to borrow
It's obvious you are not like that olodo who claims to be a Chicago trained accountant, since he borrows like crazy despite saving billions of dollars from subsidy removal that hiked petrol price instead of crashing it below N185.
Congrats boss.

One company I worked in back in 2014 in Benin City, the man was owing me two months salary. The man kept saying next month.

One day I went to Lagos for an interview and was offered an employment immediately and was asked to resume the the following week Monday and the interview was on Friday.

I traveled to Benin on Saturday, went straight to the office, collect key from security, changed the password to all the computers in the office and travelled back to lagos Sunday morning without telling thr man.

Come and see call on Monday morning. All the staffs de beg, especially the NYSC guys in the office. I had to give them the new password on Tuesday because of the your corps members.

Till today na so my money take enter voicemail o

You are just a good analyst and not a solution provider. And i guess that is not the kind of person he needs to connect with right now.

@Op, well, go online and search for remote jobs in your field. Good thing you said you have some finance knowledge, which I think is your asset. Go online and search for even online teaching jobs for better offers and you will be better. All the best

You are talking about 2 - 4 months, how about 3yrs and they still want you to perform and come to office daily.

Talking from recent experience.

You just have to seat down and tell yourself the truth.

In this situation, you determine the pace the work will go.

Come to work and be less productive.

I have noticed those under productive staffs are the most paid staffs in Nigeria.

Most especially Government jobs.

Dear Nairalanders,

Have you ever had any experience working with a company thay owes salary for as much as 2 to 4 months?

If Yes, how did you scale through this issue pending when you are applying for other options?

To be sincere, this is my first experience and I must confess, it is affecting my mental health. I have never been known to borrow money but since I started working for this company, I have been borrowing to feed even as begging for data.....

Worst still, this happened to me when I have just rented a new apartment and I am basically exhausted.

Kindly share tips on how you basically survive this kind of experience especially when another job is yet to come.
Is the pay good? Is it an indigenous company, foreign, or multinational?

Hahaha I can't do this.. I have the company's laptop but I can't sell it...

Your advice is welcome but too extreme
Don't follow that person's advise. That's theft, a crime. You could be locked up, prosecuted, and sent to several months in jail. That'll make your situation several times worse.

The fact the company owes you will not be a defence in court.

Find your exit, man!

You already know company doesn’t pay salary on time and you rush go rent house. You wan get privacy abi, so that you fit dey knack wetin no good for ladies body. You didn’t chose your battle well.

It may be (that) your company owner lacks financial discipline or he is in a wrong trade, or he doesn’t have good clients, or he lacks expertise in that trade, field or biz.

For instance, I pity young graduates of Accountancy who always want to start from very unknown firms, thinking they will cross to Big 4. They are on a long thing. Before they could gather experience needed at Big 4, they are already old for Big 4.

They should have been fresh students and brilliant students and enter Big 4, as trainee accountants.
There are a lot of any-how audit and accountancy firms in NIgeria, just because they sha want to be seen as having their own firm.

Tinubu and APC are the worst debtors for salaries, pensions and even contracts, despite saving billions of dollars from subsidy removal and borrowing away our future nevertheless.

Moreover, the person responsible for Osun unpaid salaries is Tinubu's minister and relative.

Nigeria: Pensioners Urge Tinubu to Pay Arrears

26 March 2003
This Day (Lagos)

Lagos — Pension teachers in Lagos State under the aegis of Teacher Pensioners of Nigeria (TEPAN) have urged Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to review his stance on paying the harmonised three year old outstanding pension allowance or risk losing their votes.

In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of TEPAN, Mr. Ayodabo 'Lade, accused Tinubu of failing to pay the arrears to teachers on their correct pension grade since the year 2000, contrary to what was obtainable in other five States of the South-west controlled by the Alliance for Democracy (AD).

How long have you been with the company?

I started evening side hustle/business.
Now I don't send their salary. It's more like a saving for me.
Re: How Do You Cope With A Company That Owes Salary? by MasterTeeUSA: 3:32pm On Oct 28
It takes a level of curse for someone to be owing salaries. Your workers are spending money to come to work, but you are owing money while making money and you think you are not cursed. You are already cursed, the children are cursed and the children's children. If you will owe someone money, owe rent, or owe anything...try explaining, but if you eat someone's sweat, you will be cursed. Some owe rent and move out and think it is over...it is not. You just will not know what has befallen on you when the problems start.

leave the company, if they pay the first 2 month and stop paying the 3rd month..resign, better to be at home without a job then coming to do free services and wasting money hoping they will pay oneday

before you apply for any job, try as much as possible to do a little research about the company, if the company is a startup, one man biz or their office space is inside one estate or apartment, or they are into real estate, chances, they will own you salary is 99%
E be like say you don get plenty experience for this kind thing grin

The company is not delaying payment intentionally.

They are probably facing difficult times due to the poor state of the economy
