Abubakar Yunusa writes: I erroneously sent ₦53k to one Fatima Aliyu Mohammed, instead of my daughter Fatima Aliyu Nuhu. It was an Opay account, which means it was also a phone number. I called the girl, she seemed to be waking up from her sleep. After greetings I told her that I sent her money in error. She said ok let me check. She called me back and asked me to send my account number. I told her to keep ₦3k and send ₦50k. Within seconds she sent the money.Source

HenryStarlife:You don't know jack, so I'm glad you quickly decided to rest your case. Someone once mistakenly sent me £50 on paypal and I sent it back as soon as she notified me. It was a very tiny sum, note. |

After Yoruba, Hausa are the best in terms of Trustworthiness, Reliability, Principle, Faithfulness and unimpeachability. If to say na those people from that side, dem go say na Chukwu Jehovah send dem the money from above. Just watch the comments on this thread, they will soon start cursing that lady for missing an opportunity of a life time. |

Jakarta:This guy has no reason to fake this stunt for attention. What does he stand to gain from that? There are still good people with impeccable characters in Nigeria. It is just that you cannot find them in the land where the Sun rises on their Utopian flag. ![]() |

Why did you mix up the phone number and still mix up the name? Returning money sent to you in error is no big deal if you're not a thief. I have returned about 70k in naira and 20k in naira given to me in error. Not because the money was small. I know that even if it's say $500k, I'll still return it because it's simply not mine. Maybe that's why God has helped me. I once sent some money to a fraudster who posed as a car dealer. The money was reversed when I thought the fraudster had it. The money simply wasn't delivered to his account, even though I had screenshot the receipt and sent to him and he even thanked me. It was the following day I got an alert of the reversal when I already believed I had been scammed. |

I have a security measure that I employed over all my Bank Accounts. I do not save people’s bank account details to my Beneficiary List. I only have my other Bank Accounts and my Family Members on my Beneficiary List, so it is near impossible for me to send any money to a stranger in error. And I do not have OPAY for security reasons. |

If not that Nigerian banks, their fraud desk, efcc, icpc and consumer protection agency in Nigeria are all useless and only working for any incumbent President and those in political power, recovering such money shouldn't take more than 7 working days! In Nigeria, simple things are made to look so special and complicated and you that have spent time in developed countries will be wondering why Nigeria is allowed to be a country governing itself to start with ![]() |

budaatum:The story has k leg People can have a similar name or similar acct /phone no, but to have both a similar name and a similar account number that coincidence is too much pls. When doing a transfer after entering a number and bank the name will pop up. How is it that this lady had a number and name close to his daughters name? Story cannot fly for me. I send money to my pikins all the time and I have all their info saved |

Which is ordinarily the right thing to do. The issue is where is our morals as a country, certainly gone to the gutters! You will hear people say it is blessing and they will never refund. I once went to slot Akowonjo, bought some items only to notice when I got home they charged for 2 instead of 3, I drove back there and informed them and paid the balance. What of petrol, we bought fuel, drove away only to notice that the receipt showed a declined transaction, one does not know the stress the attendant had that she did not notice. I later found out my account balance showed money was not debited. On our way back later in the day we stopped accross the expressway, sent the driver to go across and look for the attendant, luckily she was still there but not selling, infact she had cried all day, lol. She came across with my driver and I made the payment, Omo if you see the cry of joy ehh, no be small thing, she said the money was more than her salary and that the manager had already created payment plan for her to make full refund. |
