Tinubu is playing a very very dirty but effective game. If Atiku is no longer on the ballot. The North now have to make a choice between waiting for TINUBU(4 years) or OBI(eligible for 8years) or MAKINDE(eligible for 8 years). And i don't think anyone is believing that "i will do just one term story" especially when you have constitutional right to do 2 terms.
The incentive is now for the north to go with the a southern president that will not be constitutionally eligible to contest in 2031

Let me tell you what is happening. Tinubu does not want a Northerner on the ballot for 2 reasons.
1. Northern votes is much more accessible for him than any southern candidate, so he prefers an all-southern affair.
2. The North has no incentive to vote another southern candidate that will be constitutionally eligible to be president for another 8 years. They will rather prefer to play ball with a southern president that will be constitutionally ineligible to run in 2031.

Nigerian politics is all about power power power, and the North is so so so into power.
For the North, the best time they want power/presidency is NOW NOW NOW(as in 2027) BUT if they cannot have it in 2027, the next best time for them is 2031. And no one is believing that "i will do just one term" story especially when you are eligible to do 2 terms.
