Wow... This quite different from what my friend has often done.

But I will like to know, when sell pays, sedo often alert you via personal email right?

You get some email similar to this one below from sedo. For me, i never click on the link provided for scammer sake, i just login into my sedo and view the message from the trasnfer section.

This is a general security information when doing transaction online

When you get this message, please do not click on the link.why? Most scammers use this method to scam you. They prepare a fake sedo site that makes you believe you are on the official sedo website. When you click on the link, you are been directed to the phising site which is similar to sedo site and when you login with your email and password, they automatically gain access to your login infos bcus the phishing site sends your login details to the scammers. You know what happens when a thief has the key to your home?

So for me, i login to the site by typing godaddy.com/sedo.com or which ever site, then i am sure im not on the fake site.

For domaining, if the scammer has access to your login info, it could be possible that your email and password is the same with your registerers login info. So they can lo unto your domain registerers account and transfer your domain to their own acc, or they could login unto sedo or othermarketplace, and confirm that you have recieve the domain/money depending on your situation.

So be wise,

If possible use different login info for different site.by doing so, if the scammers were able to get your sedo login, they are still not able to login to your domain registerers.
If you get an email from person claiming to be interested in your domain or any of your product online, suggest the person to sedo, escrow or paypal depending on the situation.
Dont try to be smart online when you confirm an email is a scam, the scammer might be smarter than you. There is usually a botton called "delete" on your email.
Escrow service commision might be costly, but the ability to be guaranteed by escrow is something nigerian banks cant do.

Domain business is tagged an investment. From experience, no investors would want to invest in a staggering country.i.e nigerian .ng domains that were sold in the past were bought out of hopes. Go check recent sells and you will find out that .ng domains are not patronize as compared to other tld.
Why?

With the political instability in Nigeria, domain investors are scared that when they invest in Nigerian domain, their investment might be drained into thin air. Why? When a country collaps, everything related to that country go with it. Meaning? Nigeria has been predicted by the USA and other experts to sieze to exist in a few years time. This prediction is seen in the recent violence among muslims and christains in different states on Nigeria, it is also seen in the political speech made on national newspapers. How does it affect domains? If a country goes down, its domain TLD goes with it. As in? The .ng domain will sieze to exist if Nigeria breaks up tomorrow. Who will be affected? Does domain with .ng on it or does domain with Nigeria on it. Example? If for example nigerian divides today, the igbos dont want to be called Nigerians but biafra, the hausa dilike the nigerian logo o thy ill be clled afenifere or something like that and ofcourse the yorubas will go for Odua than the Nigerian name. It means the new seperate government formed wont be able to maintain this .ng domain and it will be swapped out of existence.

Go to flippa for instance, i have seen 2 letter .ng domain that would have been priced for over 200k million dollars if it were other Top TLD not receiving any bid.


A good example of this sceneria was seen in the for yugoslavia country. According to wikipedia " After Serbia and Montenegro acquired separate .rs and .me domains in 2007, a transition period started, and the .yu domain finally expired on 30 March 2010.

Another sceneria is what happend to zaire republic country domain . According to wiki " .zr is the former Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Zaire. Because Zaire was renamed Democratic Republic of the Congo in 1997, .zr was phased out and .cd took its place. In 2001, .zr was finally terminated."

i do not pray for the downfall of this "great country" nigeria. But in order not to commit suicide when a bomb is been thrown in a country where you have your investment, it is wise to not invest in the country if you see a sign of war.

It u want to sell the site to them without them knowing its u, u could setup a new registeres account with ur dad,mum,sister or dogs name.register the domain and tell them a friend of yours who is a dog named bingo is willing to sell the domain name to them if they are interested. Over here, dogs dey get website so its not a bad idea if ur dog sell him website bcus him won buy bone chop

I understand all ur points. The association write their website and email on the signboard. It is an acronym for the association. e.g www.xyz.org , info@xyz.org. So I tried to browse how the site looks like but to my surprise i saw an error page. So i typed whois.net to check the site's info. But i got this info "xyz.org is available" for registration with green colour. There is no registrar & hosting coy info

I don't do flippa and even if you would sell domains at flippa, it has to be premium domain name.

I checked my sedo stats and noticed that my page received traffic from USA for the domain same day I got that email. That means he viewed my page before he emailed me.

How is that possible? Once you change the nameserver to that of sedo, automatically, it is parked and listed at sedo.

You caan list at sedo without parking it. You dont have to change ur dns before you are approved. Parking is only an option that is advertised on sedo to make it look compulsary.

Try it out.
Go to ur sedo, click add domain, the first page goes as follow
Listong page
Price suggestion page
Sedomsl domain
Then the final confirmation page

On the final conformation page, u find sedo dsn as a suggestion if you want to park. But its not compulsary

Thats nice, but Like i said before, avoid to the minimum email communications outside sedo control panel. If he is interested, tell him to make an initial bid on sedo. Then you both can discuss securely using sedo secured messaging platform.

Secondly, if he makes an initial bid, you also have the benefit of getting your domain listed on sedo greatdomain auction. Also top domain buyers are more likely to visit domains that have received a bid than those with no bid

Dont know about afternic, but i think they use escrow.com for transfer. You should check their site to see if they have their own escrow system.
