Can you do a develop a design that is a departure from the typical Nigerian design? I am not a fan of Nigerian Architecture as i find it too "Colonial American" and not contemporary.I also don't like the way Nigerian architecture comes with coats of many colors,i like homes which have just subtle color scheme not a mismatched color scheme.

Can you design a sample of a bungalow in a minimalist fashion like the ones pictured below, just simple straight lines with ultra modern styling and well matched color scheme:

All of the above are South African homes and as you can see South African Architecture is ultra modern and in a class of it's own.I have attached a small floor plan which i developed on sweet home 3D software, can you design a modern minimalist outer skin for this plan and post it here.It is a rough floor plan so there are no specific dimensions indicated.

It features:

1 Lounge with bar
1 kitchen
1 Dining Area
4 en-suite bedrooms
1 King bedroom with walk in wardrobe
1 Gym/Arcade/Computer room
1 guest toilet

This is a huge bungalow and i believe that it can only fit on two plots of land 120ft by 120ft.I will wait to hear from you.

The designs can be developed. At least we have a few of them.

But, why it isn't so popular is the maintenance aspect.

I still remember that those type of designs were popular during the 70s and 80s. They are beautiful, and always do stand out.

Why did people shift from that to what is presently obtainable? The Maintenance aspect.

The cost of maintaining these buildings are high. It should also be done regularly. With one or two rains, the edges/tip of the parapet wall begins to darken, and plants/algae begins to grow on it.

With the introduction of roofs covering the entire structure, this problem was reduced and/or solved.

Also, in most cases where the roof is slabbed and exposed to rain and shine, constant treatment of the roof must be done to prevent leakages

Over the years, however, most houses that were decked were roofed, not because it was the trend, but because most have begun to leak in several places.

This can be remedied by the introduction of low roofs in the design(as seen in most banks and other commercial structures). The low roofs are then covered with parapet walls.

blink182: are there no fungi resistant paint?

Of course there are, but how many Nigerians that are building according to budget can afford those?
What most resort to is capping the parapet wall.

Chairman, please take it easy. We are not fighting with " Oga Playmode".
His questions and remarks are also not so out of place.

I believe we can learn a whole lot of things from the designs he posted. Talk about the style, the colours, the facade.

I also believe that Nigerian architecture is still evolving and developing.
There shouldn't be any restrictions.
We can merge the South African architecture and the Nigerian Architecture to produce a whole different and unique style.

Please take it easy, we are all here to learn from different people, cultures and style.

Looking at his work, you can tell he is very professional.. I love his drawings and that of Kkonsults,
although they have different kind of design/taste, which is good... but they standout..
I am sure one day they will surely have my business.

Wow just wow undecided Are you ok upstairs? What warranted all these insults? You were clearly not raised right. Is it a crime to ask the Architect to design something different? Unbelievable.Your behavior is nothing short of barbaric and that is putting it mildly.
