HsLBroker: 0.45 mm gauge for the covering but the ridge caps and eve angles is 0.55 mm so that it can be very straight.

Od31: Hi I need your advice, I have a project that is about 18m by 11m duplex, the quotation for the quantity of wood seems high below is what my capenter gave.

The planned height of kind post is 18 ft (about 5.5m)

1. 30 pcs of 3X4 hard wood
2. 230 pcs of 2X4X18 hard wood
3. 200 pcs of 2x4x12
4. 450 pcs of 2x3x12 hardwood
5. 400 pcs of 2x3x12 semi hard wood,

am not sure why about 850 pcs of 2x3x12 semi hard and hardwood!!!!! pls i will appreciate ur advice.

quote me anyway and let your carpenter also quote me, this quotation is outrageous and your carpenter sound like a like criminal, firstly there is nothing like semi hardwood, what we have is either full sizes or solo sizes. I supply full sizes and full length that is measurable.

Secondly your house has a parapet roofing design and you are using a stone coated roofing sheets, i know this because of your kingpost of 18ft.

Thirdly your house measurement is 54 ft by 33 ft because we measure wood in foot.

so below is your quotation for this project.



3x4x12 (25 pcs) for wall plate @ N800 per rate

2x4x12 (300 pcs) for tie beam and rafters @ N500 Per rate

I think i'm ok serving the SW, SE, SS, for now, till the fire burning in the north cease from burning.

Not to deviate from your question, professionally it will be advisable to finish the roofing frame work, then we can take the physically measurement of the roofing frame work to get the accuracy measurement of require roofing sheets that will cover this house, especially when there is no roofing plan, it's easier to calculate number of woods needed to roofing a house if you get the accurate length, breadth and height of the roofing, than to calculate the roofing sheet, but because i have done a roofing similar to this type of roof recently with same height and differences of about 10 ft in length and breadth, and the roof had been covered with stone coated sheets, which is same roofing sheet propose for this roofing in study.

The roofing sheets that will be require to cover this house will be 431 square meters with plus or minus 10%.

I'm moving your woods from one of our saw mill in sapele to Port Harcourt your transport is just N30, 000 only, considering is about 245 Km normally from Ibadan to lagos is one hour, 51 mins (128.7 km) this is what we charge but you are lucky, I have a truck driver friend that runs sapele to port Harcourt on daily basis and presently as I speak he is at Sapele and he will be going to port harcourt on Tuesday, I will like him to deliver the woods, nails for the project is 3 bags 3 inches anti rust nails and 2 bags 4 inches @ N5, 500 each times 5 equal N27, 500

so all hands can be on desk.
