Costee: By calculated I also meant indicated. If in indeed it means you have 30-35mpg then that's very good. It means you use less than 12 litres/100km...highway driving I guess.

Ok. I had covered 164km with about 15 litres before on highway plus city drive before with the car.

People, the SES light returned this morning but in another scary dimension. I ran a scan immediately and got P0325 (knock sensor, bank 1) and P1401 (EGR Temp sensor). The old codes never returned. People, the first code scared me. Please what can be wrong again?

Alright, I saw this page online on the P0325

It explained that vibration is one reason the code might come. I remember that the engine vibrated this morning. But I don't know the cause.

- Faulty EGR Temperature Sensor
- EGR Temperature Sensor harness is open
or shorted
- EGR Temperature Sensor circuit poor
electrical connection
- Malfunction of EGR function, EGRC-BPT

Why did the first code scare you? No big deal, it can only lead to loss of power. You can ignore it, or try to change it if the harness/connector has not been tampered with as a result of your recent repairs. A faulty knock sensor does not trip on the SES light. So whatever triggered on the light is for something else. Yet, the second code P1401 is not applicable to your model. Check again.

Yeah, unfailing @costee. The first code is actually inconsequential as I later discovered. But I think the second code is applicable to the car. I saw it in the codes list I printed for the car. I think I forgot to connect back the harness connector of the EGR as I was trying to get a picture of the dropping resistor yesterday. I should have checked now but Im not with the car. I travelled and won't be back till Sunday evening.

I have thesame car, but green in colour, it has thesame problem to, mine packed me @ ajakuta on my way from kastina state to enugu. I was stop at a police check point, after checking my pepers, and I was ask to go, that's when the car refused to start, thee police directed me to a mechanic workshop were the car was leter towed there, after a series of scan, I was ask to change the crank shaft sencor, I did but to no avail, they leter said ignation, I did but to no avial, now they said its now brain box, and to get all thjis parts, I've to travel to onisha from kogi state. Now the parts seller has to come for my rescure, he now toke me to a nissan specialist who said my brain box is ok, that even if I change the engine, it will still not start, that all I have to do is to bring the keys for reactivation, that it has expired, and that's exactly what he did and behold my car is sound and good to go!

The person who did the original scan did not detect and immobilizer code? It would have saved you all the stress.

I think the lesson for sleekpro is that he should develop the consciousness of error codes by obtaining a scan tool. This idea of "they said", "they did" etc, is laughable. As it is he can't, for example, give us the error code pulled before "they" came to the conclusion that a crankshaft sensor was needed. You need to know before allowing "them" to do. Praise God thereafter for your wisdom!

The factory service manual is free for you to download there.
I have all the codes for the car printed from that site.The site is specifically for nissan primera. I always get info from people from all over the world especially from UK guys there.

Whn I got home I discovered I left the EGR temp sensor connector unconnected. I reconnected and cleared away the codes waiting if any will return.

Meanwhile, the car has stopped vibrating but the jerky gear selection with higher RPM for usual speed still remains.

We have drained the oil a second time and cleaned the magnetic filters but there still no improvement. But please is there any special information on how to place the magnetic filters on the cover of the transmission?

The SES light still not returned but the lack of proper selection of the transmission remains as status quo.

Transmission issue, what transmission Atf have you been using

Then your P12 can't be CVT. If it is then you have committed an unpardonable offence.

Let a transmission specialist mechanic examine the transmission. Scan the car first and bring the error codes online for guys to assist you.

As you were told before, scan the vehicle and post codes here. Then you will know what to do. By the way, do you have an idea of when your transmission oil was last changed? The only oil it uses is NS-1 CVT fluid. The more you drive a car that is not shifting properly, the more you risk a proper transmission damage.

Ask a transmission specialist to check your car. it may be something they can repair else you would need to change that transmission box. My car had similar problem before I opened this thread. I asked them to repair it which they did but it appeared that the transmission control unit was damaged. Thus the repair did not work. The mechanic finally changed the transmission box to a non-cvt which I'm managing till now.
