comrade iconizer its not about shoprite and mtn only..SAn companies built your airports, some are involved in planning your roads..,some are involved in your information technology and energy,on the other hand SAn universities are sharpening young Nigerian minds while SAn labour market reduce your country unemployment rate by absorbing Nigerian graduates ...hehehe did you know that Nigeria import even tap water from SA...?

iconize:
Its just funny how these moronic lackeys think. grin grin

Eroza, do you mean to tell me that there are no substitute companies and malls to replace your MTN and shoprite, or whatever its called?grin

To think your investors are doing Nigeria(ns) a huge favour by investing in Nigeria, where they also make huge profits from, is absolutely moronic!

According to you, Nigerians buy breads from Shoprite and bank with South African banks. grin

Now tell us, before the advent of Shoprite and your banks were Nigerians not eating breads and also banking? grin grin grin

Such a moronic logic! grin

I'm ignorant here please, which airports did they build?

Even at that, were Nigerians not flying before then?

For the rest of your claims, buttress them with convincing news.

from day one, we know Mtn is a south African company, no one denies that ... and regarding the giant baby, she has competitors 'indigenous [black owned][no BEE] COMPANIES' for all foreign companies here, south africa inclusive .. you should bury ur head

Your pride in ignorance deserves some attention hence this response.
Next time, stick to an identity in your response. ... dont start with "my people" and end in "your nepotism".
To the topic..... if the SA companies leave today, there will definitely be a short term effects such as layoffs and customer reactions. However you need to note the following
1. There are alternative companies in every field that the SA companies provide services
2. Because there is already a HUGE and EXISTING market, this is a huge opportunity for new comers and they will be streaming in at the speed of light
3. The new entrepreneurs (indigenous preferably) will mop up the employees of the exiting SA companies in the mid-term because they are used to and will be servicing the same market
4. You can be sure the SA companies will selling their assets on exit, you dont expect MTN to dismantle their masts and stations, you dont expect shoprite to carry their malls back to SA. They all remain here and servicing same market by same employees but different Non-SA management.
5. Exiting of SA companies is a blessing to our indigenous entrepreneurs
6. Nigeria loses little cos we have no major Nigerian brand in SA. At least the dangotes and adenuga's have seen no reason to invest there yet.

Now my overall response. if we critically look at the overall picture.... this looks like a script. When you have the two largest african economies at each other's neck...... Africa is the loser. Not Nigeria nor SA alone. I see the hand of the west in this. An aligned Nigeria and SA on economic policies will be a a real force...... Think about. Some people across the Atlantic dont want to see that happen.

firstly, nothing about my post connote inferiority complex whatsoever! secondly, from 1934 - 1960 , the boers provided themselves a world class development to enrich themselves in what's supposed to be 'your land' , while nigeria had nothing in 1960 and had to start from scratch till it overtook your 'euro-africa' economy.
