ratiken:My broda, leave the mugu.. I was showing financial data how Nigeria accounts for almost 30% of MTN's GLOBAL revenue, Nigeria boast of 58 million subscribers (36%), that's more than 1/3rd of MTN's global total of 207 million and he's talking about unemployment whereas this company adds peanuts compared to what they are milking Nigerians.. Leave him alone, he's better off with the crumbs falling off the table. |

Population is a factor in Economy..Nigeria is no.1 Economy in Africa with huge potentials and huge customer base, u cant compare a country with 170milliion people to one with just 50million......If the Nigerian Federal Govt sanctions MTN, shoprite and DSTV and other SA companies dey would go down on theirs knees begging....Havnt u thought abt Google in China? upon all d govt censorship and infringement on googles terms of services, they are stil operating in China. SouthAfricans arent to blame for Nigerias present state of abyss, i blame the successive idiots who have been rulling us since 1960.......I want you to think of this,,,,,,Everything that can go wrong in a country is going wrong in Nigeria but yet Nigeria is still aftricas biggest Economy with a GDP of $500bn,,,,,,,if Nigeria gets its act together, we wld b robbing shoulders with Japan and Germany and not scuffling with SA. |

Sometimes I wonder knowing how enthusiastic we were to see a free SA. So much support for ANC and Mandela, scholarships in our Fed Govt Colleges and Universities for many SA students who were also camped and fed free during summer vacations! I remember Themba et al and wonder if they are the same ones now turning their backs on Naija and embarrassing us at every opportunity. SA has clearly forgotten our sacrifices in that era and after independence, the open door policy we gave them to grow their businesses (which they sometimes use to oppress us) We were driven with great passion by our leaders to fight apartheid in every way. Thinking back now, could funding for ANC have been channelled through legitimate routes given the rules guiding apartheid then? Of course I don't support illegality, corrupt practices and criminal tendencies. We do deserve some respect and there are better ways of dealing with us in our current situation without compromising on their legitimate processes and humiliating us. We will be delivered from BH same way we conquered Ebola against all odds. God loves Nigeria! |

atlwireles, manny4life and co,Since When did depending majorly on other countries of the world for consumer goods/services become something to be proud of? How would we manage if we face the kind of sanctions Russia faces today? Though in this day, no country can function entirely in total isolation but the international political economy is controlled by those countries that are almost 100 percent reliant on self. So much talk about South Africa suffering more if our (Nigeria and South Africa) economic relations becomes strained. What is the national of those working at MTN in Nigeria? same for all other South African business in Nigeria. Talking about MTN losing the MEGA profits they make from Nigerian on a yearly basis, how would this (losing this profit) affect South African government and her people? is MTN owned by the government of South Africa or by private individuals (South Africans, Arabians,Nigerians, Human beings)? I could go on, but the base line is that the two parties would be hurt by a strain in economic tires but Nigeria would lose more as a lot of Nigerians are been employed by South African firms, not mentioning the thousands of Nigerians hustling in South Africa. Be sure that the issue would be resolved, as the private individuals that own MTN their likes and labor leaders would move to placate their governments in other to protect their own interest. |

pro2010:What are you talking about? ![]() Did you read our position before writing all these? ![]() When did expelling SA companies become isolation, yet when did that turn out to be depending majorly on other countries particularly when we are advocating for our indigenous growth? Abeg I son't understand what you've written, please take a step back and read through our opinion. As for the bold , if indeed you're asking a genuine question, I will reply you. |

manny4life:Do the mutinational companies make laws for us? are they responsible for our dead manufacturing sectors? how many wealthy Nigerians are willing to invest halve the money this multinationals invest in Nigeria? i can bet you that if we quarel with SA economically, we would turn to China/other countries. |

EroZA:I am Nigerian but I have to say that Nigeria is one country where you unfortunately find the manifestation of a very successful marriage between great confidence and ignorance. Just imagine a proud allied general landing the beaches of Omaha on D-day, his armies armed with sticks, spears and clubs. Then he gives a loud Spartan-like roar.... "Charge!!!!!" Such is the disparity between the capacity for clear thinking/planning/execution and the show of pump amongst quick-to-puff-up Nigerians. Sadly, it is mostly Ibos (Igbos) that portray us this way internationally (as they also make a nuisance of themselves locally). If Nigerians only knew the degree to which we have made ourselves look like retards - a close-to-zero capacity to organize. We are only slowly coming out of it and not out of a conscious effort at all. I will put up my facebook post to this effect later ~ South-South voice |

south Africa is being used by the USA to attack Nigeria cos Nigeria has refused to be dragged into legalizing same sex marriage. prior to this south Africa has always had complex issue once they hear that name Nigeria especially black south Africans. if Nigeria government treat south Africans they way they treat Nigerians, south Africans will be the ones to lose more. if south Africans are wise they should strive to have real and complete independent from their white masters. Nigeria can help them to achieve this if only they can bow to Nigeria's big brother position. |

Question: Can Nigerians Do Without The Services Provided by South Africans? Answer: Yes. There are several ways Nigerians will survive; 1: Nigerian companies will take over and absorb the human resources that will be laid off by the South African Companies. 2: Other foreign brands will fill the little vacuum created by the South African companies, especially due to the profit potentials of providing such services to Nigerian consumers that are known to have a high domestic consumption history. 3: Nigerians can easily survive on the small scale service providers that they were more accustomed to before the entry of South African Companies. Question: Who will suffer if South African companies are sent packing? Answer: SOUTH AFRICAN COMPANIES will lose so much money that some of them may never be able to recover. This is in the form of human, financial and physical assets, along with potential profits. THE NIGERIAN WORKERS of these South African companies will lose from being laid off, however many of them will be reabsorbed into new or competing companies that will emerge to fill the gap. THE NIGERIAN AND SOUTH AFRICAN GOVERNMENTS will lose valuable incomes in the form of tax and other incomes. Some foreign investors may be scared of investing in Nigeria as a pedigree will be built i.e. Investing in Nigeria will be viewed as being risky. However existing foreign companies in Nigeria will understand the dynamics in Nigeria and see the opportunities available. CONCLUSION: South African Companies will rather kill Zuma than allow him to even think of letting the Nigerian government to kick them out. On the Nigerian side, the response of the government will determine how acceptable the diplomatic action will seem to Nigerians. If the vacuum left by the South Africans is effectively filled by local or foreign firms, it will mean that it is a total loss for the South Africans, especially their companies and government. |

1.those companies are not only doing business in nigeria 2.no country will have desire to invest in a country where private businesses get subjected to threats by politicians 3.those companies are uniquely south African, even if Nigerians can try to emulate, things will never be the same 4.the government of SA can look for other countries as alternative to replace Nigeria target market 5.South Africans don't think like Nigerians therefore nobody will ever think of killing zuma because his government did not go to Nigeria and violated the laws of that country. 5.if Nigerians are capable of creating businesses that can match those ,what are you guys waiting for,I would love to see Nigerian big businesses in SA filling the gap currently occupied by these Nigerian barbershops, shoemaker shops, hair salons and taverns 6.on Tuesday president Jonathan and some of his cabinet members were here,he assured south Africa that south African businesses in Nigeria are in safe hands and there are no threats against them 7.your oil money will be realesed anytime from now, 8.dont create unnecessary enemies, there is no country that can survive without the outside world.... my name is EroZa ..this is my personal opinion Justcash: |
