Today my grandpa was laid to a peaceful rest after 101 years sojourn on earth

One day, out of curiosity, I asked him where lies the secret to a gracious long life like the one he was enjoying. He simply told me in a shaky voice to live an honest life. He added that I should always stand for the truth no matter where the majority is standing but I should be ready to become their enemies. He also said that I should always remember the needy and open my hands to them.

May his gentle soul rest in peace. Amen. And may we all live longer......Amen
101 years? Awesome. Abeg send my rice o
Rest in peace grandpa

I didnt mean to start writing much, but I believe that there are instances where one of "a married couple" might decide to opt out on his/her own without following the church's process of divorce, probably by serving her divorce paper from the court. Now in this case, I feel the church should give the other partner the grace to recieve communion and probably to remarry since the 1st partner is gone without following the church process and is not ready/willing to follow the process.
the church doesn't have a divorce process...
And Who say the patner who ran away is responsible for the failed relatioship so that the other is given communion?

I have seen cases of a violent and abusive man, who drove the woman to the point of divorce, should the man be given communion becos it was the woman that ran away?... My point is that you have opened a can of worms.

That isn't even the point, that is even off key. The main point is that the marriage covenant is by nature permanent and unmovable, it can only be broken by death.

If the church allows a remarriage, (that will be insane) that means she recognises two active marriages for one person.
That isn't just possible because marriage is between one man and one woman, two active marriage on one person is against the nature of marriage itself.

Marriage is permanent and indissoluble, the church didn't make it that way, God did.

I dont understand what you mean by "the church doesnt have a divorce process"... Also, stating from your eg... If a man maltreats his wife and she ran away for her own safety. Lets say the man out of his waywardness goes ahead and invite marries another woman without divorcing the first wife... Shouldnt the church at least grant the woman access to comunion since the fault isnt coming from her... This is the type of exception that am talking about... When one of the partner becomes the victim of a broken marriage...

SalC:
somehow, I fear for the outcome of this synod. I pray am wrong sha may God take control and his will be done
the media and some cardinals are raising the expectations on the synod... And the pope is a very confortable treading the ambigious line. I think the pope wants a real discussion on the topics, what he expects that i do not know.

There is a need to find a solution without undermining the sacrament of matrimony.

babestell:
I support communion for the divorced and remarried Catholics with reasonable restrictions
even i want everybody who can be in a state of grace to recieve communion, the problem is how?

If you are divorced and remarried the your current "union" is a contradiction of matrimony. The "new" conjugal unions become sinful. How do u reconcile that so that they can recieve communion.

Re: A Thread For Catholics by Ubenedictus(m): 9:20am On Oct 11, 2014
Hidentity,

I pray that Christ may be glorified in you this day and every day of your life, people will see you and give glory to God for his wonders on your life. May God direct your heart, free your soul from the burden of unneccesary anxiety, may he preserve your life in abundance and set your heart on true freedom, may he direct your days and cause you to be confident over your adversaries. May he give you consolation in the hour of dryness, comfort when you are down, peace when others are shaken and joy to complete your life, may he accept your offering, save you from the weight of sin. May God, this day build for you a new begining so that the past will seem as of no account, may he hear your voice when you call, raise you when you are bowed down, run to pick you up when you fall and spur you on when you are dull, may heavens choicest gift be your as our mama maria continues to interceed for us and all best wishes follow you. He will crown his blessing upon you with spiritual might and perseverance so that today, tomorrow and every day of your life all thanks, honor, glory, praise, power, majesty, dominion may be to the thrice blessed and holy God, our own heritage, through his son Jesus Christ.

Amen, amen amen.
