Why you dey ves?
You no ves like this when Davies say Ihejirika is boko haram.
The vanguard reporter, Omonobi, is a Yoruba,
He is the one that reports on the military for them.
We even discuss the general from the South West that ran into the bush with a whole division of nigerian army.
Why cant we discuss some one who set army petrol tanker on fire.
That thread was very interesting but was denied a slot on FrontPage .

Not surprised you posted the topic and why won't you believe it. angry
Less we equally progress in error, suddenly the Military now decides to monitor just to justify the case of court martialing or what.
When the General sacrificed gallant officers to bokoharam then which actually was the beginning of this mutiny they weren't monitoring then or what?
I am not in support of saboteurs and I think they should be dealt with once identified. angry
Coming up with this story to justify court martialing tells me that their is something wrong internally at the top.
Who should be court martialed, the officers that lowered morale by denying the boys adequate compensation or the one that refuses to send adequate back up to those facing the battle headlong?

Likewise I will continue to support the military to ending this bokoharam menace but I reserve my choice to believing this story.

No Nigerian who truly love this country will seek to justify the new low our army has descended. Acts of cowardice and mutiny are daily front page news. They even disgraced Nigeria in Mali when they were singled out by the Malian army chief for indiscipline and cowardice.

500 soldiers ran away abandoning heavy weapons to seek protection from Cameroonian army. 800 soldiers deserting the fight for Bama. Countless mutinees. Soldiers refusing to deploy or confront the enemy.

And then this.Practically all the heavy weaponry, APCs and tanks used by BH today were abandoned by cowardly Nigerian soldiers and officers.

Look at the adversary. Teenagers and child soldiers without training, without body armor, without boots or helmet. In the instant case, the six Hilux trucks were most likely commandeered or abandoned by fleeing nigerian soldiers. They should have disappeared without setting our equipment on fire so that brave soldiers like the heroes in Konduga could retrieve them. For any soldier who has chosen cowardice over service, no amount of equipment will be enough.

The Nigerian army still have brave soldiers prepared to fight. But first these cowards and saboteurs have to be separated and either discharged, jailed or shot if deserving. Nothing else will save Nigeria. Besides it is grave injustice to those who have lost lives and limbs should they be spared.

The idiots will just wrap them in gift paper and hand over to BH.

All saboteurs should be killed by the military both big and small.

Am not surprised. I have always known that elements conniving with boko-haram are right within the military itself. They had been the enemies making boko-haram look as if they were better armed than the military.
The best way to handle it is to remove all these Muslim colonels and generals and replace them with those who are not incline to any religion as a precaution in the war turn north east. We cannot afford to let what has been happening in Afghanistan and Pakistan continue to happen in the fight against these bloody terrorist in Nigeria.
Well done Nigerian Military. The colonel and his junior colleagues are the ones that deserves the dead penalty.
APC are very costly amour cars. Imagine the economic sabotage on our dear country.
Boko-Haram can be defeated and buried if the right people are placed in the battle fields.
God bless our Soldiers.
God bless Nigeria.

If I am to defend the guys.
From previous report where soldiers in Maiduguri barracks burn down the armory before leaving as Boko Haram came close, I would say that it was a case of the Commander having fears that the incoming terrorists have superior weapons and numbers and to ensure that they don't capture the APC, they had to render it useless for the insurgents and flee.

I would be interested to hear what their defense
Are you sure you comprehend the report? The colonel and his squad of soldiers were given air cover right on the battlefield against an advancing team of boko-haram hilux vans. Instead for the colonel to engage them, he choose to destroy the APCs at his command. Does that suggest self defense to you?
That's a classic example of Sabotage on display.

What kind of professionalism is this? This is one my biggest headache with this government. Why are they trying so hard to play tribal and religion Card?

The other day a Yoruba man ran from the war, today a Muslim man sabotage the war. They should give us their names and their trial must be open to act as a deterrent to others.
Is Vanguard a government owned newspaper?

This is sabotage plus cowardice which amounts to treason.

NBA and the dumb lawyers should seek to give legal aid to the opressed civillian populace.
These soldiers swore an oath not to abandon posts, they swore not to flee when confronted by the enemy.

The NBA chairman should know that the consequences of the army not meting out stiff punishment as laid down in their laws will lead to mediocrity in the army, soldiers will become mediocres and indisciplined like the politicians and that is dangerous to our peace and stability.

Its rather myopic this stance NBA is taking,I wonder what their aim is.

The military is different from civil institutions-the military is like a cult which has its own laws and the soldiers know going against such is death...this is the only way to keep these soldiers under control.

Hmm... The enemy within is always the most dangerous. It is alarming the increasing cases of mutiny in the military. cry

But I will blame the military more for this: when there isn't fairness in the recruitment of personnel, this is what you get.

When some top-shots recommend their loyalists and boys for enlistment and they are favoured over genuine but not connected Nigerians, this is what you get

When soldiers are not trained on conducts in the war front, this is what you getembarassed

There's need for re-orientation in the military and possibly a review of some of its laws because so many NCOs are suffering unjustly and that is why they are now acting like renegades.

By now, it is clear to all Nigerians that GEJ is doing his best to defeat terrorism, even in the face of stern opposition from all angles.

1. America is blocking us from acquiring arms to fight bokoharam.
2. South Africa is ceasing the money meant for arm purchase.
3. APC is accussing GEJ.
4. The army is sabotaging the nation.
5. The media is spreading falsehood.

We are winning this war against terrorism at all cost.

Not all the APCs are designed for conveying personnel, and is clear the one the officer was referring to. Considering the amount of money each APCs are sold "quote" “How can it be explained that several APCs that cost up to $1million each and with the capability to fire up to a range of 1.5kilometres

Some of you claiming millitary expert with no training .

Thanks for educating me. My mind was fixed on only those truck like ones used for troop movement.

Albeit, the report still lacks professionalism. It would have been better if the reporter stated that the Colonel was commanding an armoured unit than stating that he was commanding 3 APCs. He/She may then go further to state the assets being utilized by the unit.

And for your information, I never claimed to be a military expert. The news was not written for military experts only; it is for public consumption.

It would appear so but that is not the case. The US delight in violence escalating to a crisis level before they show up their sad faces.
Case in point: Rwandan Genocide in 1994. The CIA were privy to plans by certain Rwandans to assassinate the then Rwandan President but did nothing to stop it. They pretended like they new nothing was going on. That event gave way to the genocide.
