In Response To Emeka Ike's Inflammatory Remarks About Nollywood Lately by StarFist(op): 1:32pm On Oct 14, 2014
I was just casually browsing the web when I accidentally stumbled upon a written interview on Nigeriafilm.com dated Wednesday, October 8 of Emeka Ike, a name that used to be a household name in Nigerian movie industry but which has for some years now been relegated to the background.

A lot of caustic statements meant to paint Nollywood in black; as Sodom and Gomorrah where lesbianism, homosexuality and casual sex are prerequisite for membership or for getting movie roles; as where half baked greedy individuals and ex convicts are allowed in the leadership and members adopt fake lives and accents.

It is quite a shame that such unguarded statements would come from one who, without Nollywood, would have been just another Igbo guy in the streets. Well, Mr Emeka Ike, with all due respect, I wish to ask you the following questions:

1. You were recorded as saying that it was since folks started adopting fake accents that you became disillusioned with acting. My question is, is that the same reason you became so obsessed with politics, especially the showy aspect of it  --'your convoy' as you termed it?

2. You said you were too busy to act with accent fakers, my question is, does that mean you were also too busy to pay your rent given a report within the year that you were shamefully evicted from your apartment?

3. Mr Emeka Ike, you said Nollywood has turned into Sodom and Gomorrah with bizarre mode of entry. Does that mean you were 'disvirgined' before you became a Nollywood star?

4. Record has it you graduated from a polytechnic and really was finding it difficult to refine your thick Igbo accent which gave you complexes and  reflected as anger management problems. What do you have to say in response to these?

Personally, I am an AGN member and have featured in a couple of movies and on not even one occasion was I ever presented with such preposterous demands as requirements to enrol or shoot. I simply paid the amount for the registration, started attending rehearsals and meetings as well as auditions and, besides the normal once in a while 'wine presentation' in a bar to some of my seniors in the industry, every other thing is on merit.

There is an Igbo adage that says, 'if you spit on a defecation spot after defecating, remember you will still be pressed in future.' Mr Emeka Ike, remember that you cannot boast of a fan base, even in your political ambition, beyond that given to you by Nollywood exposure. Evil speaking of the same industry is like bad mouthing the mother that birthed and raised you. Personally, I think you are just another bitter loser who is on a vendetta to pull down a structure that wouldn't allow you a slice of power.

I am a die-hard Nollywood fan and would remain at the forefront of the campaign to show her in the best light possible as we take her to greater heights. Nollywood na we own Oo! Let's learn to speak good of her!
