Of course, the elephant in the room is the funding problem in the health sector.

Government runs too many hospitals, and does not spend up to 10% of the budget funding all of them. And most of the funding goes to salaries.

The reality is that Govt does not want to increase the amount health gets in the budget...and at the same time does not want to increase hospital fees.

So, we have a lot of problems....and no solution in sight.
oh pls man....which too many hospitals? And is there a single public health centre in the country people dont part with their earnings with for services?? despite the disgraceful services been rendered??...one doctor to 200 patients a day...besides docs still look forward to part time PP.

The health sector is. underfunded, uncatrered for and inadequately staffed. They would use the money in budget for their personal estacodes and overseas medical treatment. That's the cold truth.

Useless lots in government.

When FG wanted to cleanse the sector and sack them all...most of you cried Wolf, wasn't fair cos the then Ebola epidemic, blah blah blah!
Ehen...so now they have decided to hold this country to ransom once again.
If you can't afford the services of a private clinic or to travel abroad, you are just about finished in this country tongue

Re: Health Workers Begin Indefinite Strike Today by donodion(m): 11:07am On Oct 16, 2014
I really wont blame most ppl saying wht pleases them at health workers.

When nurses/ midwives wont be available to handle your bed care or deliveries or post/ ante natal care..you will beam your anger at those ruling you.

When lab technologists seal of their offices and lock up records....shey your corrupt govt would be taking your specimen samples for biopsies and re-agent confirmation.

When the radiologists lock up and shut down machines...your corrupt councillors and MD would take over and be taking x-rays for displaced or broken bones....

You just do not understand the importance of health care workers in a country...without them...all your wealth and money means nada...one outbreak is all it takes....just one.

Anyway...strike in govt sick health sector means more money coming the way of private clinics and their staffs.

Nigerian Government making empty promises as usual. Health workers asking for more money and extension of retirement age. What is a 70 year old doing at work?

Let's see how long this one will last before the government bribes key officers to end the strike without resolving the issues.

After them, judiciial workers, then Nasu, thereafter Nupeng etc. It's all competition motivated by greed, unpatriotsm and corruption

The Presidency and Minister of Health(CHUKWU) should be blamed for the lingering crisis in the Health Sector because it is glaring that Doctors are highly favoured at the expense of other health care professionals. This is against the principle of social justice, fairness and equity. Government should implement the agreements reached for peace to reign.
Sorry bro, but our system here in Nigeria is not much different from what obtains the world over. Make una take a chill pill.
