NMA And NARD Declare An Indefinite Strike From July 1st At 00.00hrs by phantom(op): 4:06pm On Jun 28, 2014
rising from their respective emergency delegates meeting, the national association of resident doctors (NARD) and the nigerian medical association (NMA), have called for an indefinite strike from 00.00hrs july 1st.

notice is hereby given to the general public to visit the hospitals and get healthcare from the consultant pharmacists, lab technologists, nurses, optometrists, physiotherapists and radiographers.
these other healthcare providers will clerk you, examine you, interprete your lab results, interprete your radiographs/CT's,carry out your surgeries, give you appropriate drugs and nurse you back to health.

so in effect, you will get your standard world-class care without the doctors.dont be afraid!

in johesu we trust!!!!!! grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

n/b: the general public is also by this notice informed that they must resist any attempt to discharge their relatives from hospitals, they should insist on getting healthcare from the other staff.

In as much as the issues causing disaggrements between Doctors and JOHESU seem irreconcilable, your sarcastic approach to this imbroglio is quite condemnable.

This is a fight between 2 elephants in the health sector and it's our kith and kins that will surely bare the brunt of our insatiable greed.

How I wish other less disruptive avenues are explored to bring about a definitive Close and amicable resolution of the recurrent tussle for supremacy amongst health workers in Nigeria.

Area boys masquerading as doctors. Nigerians have suffered in the hands of these disgruntled elements. NMArelevance is being vanished . I can see u guys are struggling to keep afloat.
A responsible ''union "rejoice at industrial action as some of u guys.
Doctors went on strike in lagos and ekiti, nurses covered effectively well without much ado.
who say docs are indispensable. Not all docs senseless though.I commend those that love the job not only for money but see it as a calling .
Many actually went to med schl to escape poverty. This informed there disdained attitude to colleague in other health profession.

Modern health care is delivered multidisciplinarily. Guess what, no one is a superman .We are all very important .Guess why Canada/UK continue to top best countries to live in.

NMA is creating it own healthcare protocol possible only in poverty ridden Africa.

i like your reasoning and i admit the OP came across as callous and vindictive. yes, healthcare is not dependent on one single individual but on a team and like the human body is made up various organs and systems, all must work together in other to achieve unity.

unfortunately, politics and disharmony has produced rots between the various arms of healthcare. although it is not unique to Nigeria alone but selfish political interest between individuals is tearing the health sector apart and utilizing healthstaff as unknowing pawns. granted, there are issues in the health sector but politics has reared its ugly head.

look beyond the media, don't be fooled by the press and think.
have said enough

Just heard on the news (indepedent television) that nma has gotten an industrial court order stopping the implemention of the joint health union's demands and asked all parties involved to shelf any industrial action until d matter is resolved in a d court. So maybe d strike may not hold

johesu appears to be more reasonable in their demand than doctors. They want international standard in Nigeria health sector which d doctors are opposed to.

It is open secret that NMA demands are unrealistic in any serious country.

......that other health professionals should not be appointed consultants and those already in the position revoked is senseless and ridiculous. Just google with your phone or wikipedia or any search engine. Anybody would know there are tonnes of consultants in Pharmacy, physiotherapy, radiography, lab sci. Etc in uk, usa, canada, aussie and many serious nations of the world. Nigeria physicians are competing with this in court. Exercise in futility, a journey to no where.

.........that the phrase ''medically qualified person'' refer only to physician is a fallacy of the highest order. Anybody can search for this on the wikipedia and avail himself of set of professionals categorized as medically qualified. One may also google WHO references and terms. Going to court on this is rather uncalled for. You can deceive people some of the time but not all the time.

..........that hospitals should have 3-4 CMAC remain an insult to the employer which in nigeria, the govt which double as the payor. Physicians that are trained manage patients are more concern about administrative duties at expense of primary purpose of employment. He want to be the administrator without a single class hour in that field. Only possible in the joke called Nigeria.

If it is true that NMA is now in court, fine!!! That will fast tract their imminent down fall and total freedom for nigerians.

You have answered my question. I finally get why Nma is totally against all this crap. They'll use patient care to start their encroachment.

You definitely got nothing for not being truthful. I shall not paste any link here because u are not being sincere bc u wants to create an impression.

Just google ....consultant pharmacist jobs, consultant physio jobs or consultant radiograper jobs. Tonnes of jobs in this categories will drop down .Jobs that are purely clinic based in UK/aussie, canada and usa .

We all know there are consultant in various field in academics. Nobody is missing up issues here.

all these are at your finger tips if u do not want to be sentimental on this. period.

Sorry, the law does not recognize "lab technologist" as regards the Medical laboratory system but "Medical Laboratory Scientist" or "Scientist". Take note.

This will be interesting.
Every ship has a captain.
The University is headed by the academic while the Army is headed by the combatant; the courts are captained by lawyers.

Why some childhood regular students want to captain the childhood exceptional ones , in the name of being 'administrators' is befuddling...

I checked the Top hospitals in the US, they are headed by MDs....the NHS in the UK is heading for the iceberg because of deadwood administrators in the system.

Nigerians shine your eyes well!
