This is the mid synodal document, it is purposely ambigous. It can be read both ways and i had a hard time determining whether it is simply pastoral care or if there is something lurking under.

www.zenit.org/en/articles/synod14-full-text-of-relatio-post-disceptationem

i am really grateful this isn't the final document, if it were...i would be having a real interpretation problem.
Matthew 16: 18-19
"18 And so I tell you, Peter: you are a rock, and on this rock foundation I will build my church, and not even death will ever be able to overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of heaven; what you prohibit on earth will be prohibited in heaven, and what you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.”

The above is the statement from the Master himself and I take it very literally.

I have gone through some of the arguments and declarations from those who have shown a healthy interest in the current synod and I sense that a number of you guys are AFRAID!!!

If the Church decides to allow divorced and remarried couples partake in Holy communion, which by the way supports divorce indirectly, who are we to say NO!!! The Church gives an order to the faithful and Heaven accepts that order. This is the implication of what Jesus revealed.

I see no reason why we allow ourselves to be overtaken by fear. The Church belongs to Jesus. Let him do whatever he wills with it. If he wants the Church to go back to the time of Moses where divorce was permitted, so be it.

Every Catholic should pray but the reality is that our prayers does nothing with respect to whether Jesus decides to guide his Church or not. He promised to be with his Church irrespective of our prayers.

I have this strong feeling that the document released will not be significantly different from the final outcome. I believe the Church has made the following decisions (though I may be wrong):

1) Divorced couples who are not re-married will be allowed to receive the Holy communion if the divorce is no 'fault' of theirs.
2) Divorced couples who are re-married will not be permitted but they can still enjoy some level 'community' life with the Church.

The extract below pretty much sums up the mind of the synod:

"Jesus Himself, referring to the primordial plan for the human couple, reaffirms the indissoluble union between man and woman, while understanding that “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning” (Mt 19,8. In this way, He shows how divine condescension always accompanies the path of humanity, directing it towards its new beginning, not without passing through the cross.

Divorced people who have not remarried should be invited to find in the Eucharist the nourishment they need to sustain them in their state. The local community and pastors have to accompany these people with solicitude, particularly when there are children involved or they find themselves in a serious situation of poverty.

In the same way the situation of the divorced who have remarried demands a careful discernment and an accompaniment full of respect, avoiding any language or behavior that might make them feel discriminated against. For the Christian community looking after them is not a weakening of its faith and its testimony to the indissolubility of marriage, but rather it expresses precisely its charity in its caring."

^^^^ Oga do you know the history and teachings of the Church?
Sir, there is no divorce in the catholic church.
As your writing shows our lord brought a new-way for us to follow concerning marriage in the new testament. Are you suggesting we abandon him and his new testament teachings and go back to the old testament and jewish laws?

"Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her; and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery" (Mk 10: 11- 12).
Are we suggesting that a sin based on moral behaviour is no longer a sin? What next? Adultery is not a sin? Neither Fornication or murder?
In the 1980 Marriage Synod of Bishops, Pope John Paul II clearly answered this question by saying:

"...the Church reaffirms her practice, which is based upon Sacred Scripture, of not admitting to Eucharistic Communion divorced persons who have remarried. They are unable to be admitted thereto from the fact that their state and condition of life objectively contradict that union of love between Christ and the Church which is signified and effected by the Eucharist...Reconciliation in the sacrament of Penance, which would open the way to the Eucharist, can only be granted to those who, repenting of having broken the sign of the Covenant and of fidelity to Christ, are sincerely ready to undertake a way of life that is no longer in contradiction to the indissolubility of marriage. This means in practice, that when, for serious reasons, such as for example the children's upbringing, a man and a woman cannot satisfy the obligation to separate, they "take on themselves the duty to live in complete continence, that is, by abstinence from the acts proper to married couples."

Marriage is indissoluble.
Rather lets repent, turn away from sin and the master will receive us.

Today being the first day of October and the commencement of the annual october devotion, it will be nice to carry everyone along in this year's devotion.

This is how it's going to be ......

1) You indicate you interest to be part of it.

2) You get any number ranging from 2-30

3) The number given to you represents the day the brethren will pray for you and any special intention (if you give us any)

4) Assuming your number is 15, it means we will pray for you on the 15th of Oct, and depending on the number of those who showed interest, we may have to pray for more than one person on thesame date.

5). Everyday, we announce the names of those to be prayed for.

6)On the day you will be prayed for, you can come around and say a thing or two and drop any special intention you want us to pray for (if any)

7) Everyone in the house has a duty of praying for those whose names were announced for the day,

The prayers, could be, novena, rosary, visitation to the blessed sacrament, mass, etc
8 Today being 1st, we will pray for the Pope's intention while on the 31st we pray for our country Nigeria.

God bless you as you Join us to pray or be prayed for
