How did they arrive at 700,000. What research was done to arrive at 700,000? In what year will the 700k job be acheived? Did they consider the clearing agents and road side panel who are self employed but will now need to work under stallion ? Will you classify that as part of the new job? What the auto policy will do is change what is the wealth of many men into the wealth of one man.

Meanwhile Dunlop and Michelin are still out of Nigeria. Who is deceiving who?
Both companies are actually in the process of re-entering or considering the Nigerian market. Even of they don't re-enter they will have to pay to import/sell in Nigeria. Either way, it's a win sitation for Nigeria.

Just woke up and saw this..... Both direct and indirect jobs. Well its quite realistic! Only a visionless individual will argue more. Ford Assembly plant in carlifornia is over 9miles long with more than 12000 workers! Toyota has over 400000employees(direct and indirect). Look its about time factor, always look at the bigger picture. If you always wish to see projects with immediate result, they will be gone within 5yrs and u will have nothing. All we need is Ajaokuta steel company fully operational and stable power. That figure can be achieved in 10-15yrs cuz its a long term project. Have you asked Ūя̲̅ self how much job(direct and indirect) the communication industry has generated(and stil generating) over d past 11yrs!? Think before you write, people forecast the economy with facts and mathematics, you seat in ur parents house clouded with emotions and sentiments and judge blindly undecided
at least some1 is educated here!! Certificatin no b education...we have so many illitrate graduate!

FG is sick. They make policies, make projections but rarely doesn't discuss the limitations or challenges.
How many Nigerians can afford to buy a good tokunbo car, let alone buying a new one ?
What is our govt doing to check smuggling activities?.

The issue is that there is a huge gap between those that are there (Aso Rock, House of Representatives, Senate, Government Houses, Assembly etc) and those that are here (Normal / Ordinary) Nigerians it's like complaining to someone in an Air plane about a pot hole on the road, along the same route.

You may scream out more than you Lungs and you won't still get heard.

New auto policy to create 700,000 jobs – FG

National Mirror

Oct 24, 2014

The Federal Government has said that the new policy in the automotive industry is expected to generate about 700, 000 direct and indirect jobs and boost both petrochemical and tyre sector of the nation’s economy.

Director-General, Nigerian Automotive Council, NAC, Aminu Jalal, disclosed this yesterday at the opening ceremony of the 16th edition of Abuja Motor fair, organised by BKG Exhibitions Limited.

The NAC boss, who was represented by the Deputy Director, Administrations, Alhaji R.B. Salau, said that the new policy would also salvage the honour and tastes of Nigerians and bring out the component of the new national industrial revolution plan.

This is even as Vice-President Namadi Sambo reiterated that to achieve the full potential of the new National Automotive Development Plan, NAIDP, all stakeholders in the automotive industry must support and key in to the project.

Represented by the Minister of State, FCT, Mrs. Olajumoke Akinjide, Sambo said that government would promote the manufacturing of automobiles in the country.

He expressed optimism that made-in-Nigeria cars would soon jostle for space in motor fairs around the world.

The vice-president stressed that with tenacity of the organisers of the annual fair, Nigeria would become a gateway to the African auto market.

“The commitment of this administration in the promotion of manufacturing and assemblage of automobiles as a strategy of launching Nigeria into the class of car manufacturing nations is without doubt.

“The necessity to move Nigeria from an automobile consumer nation to producers cannot be over emphasised. We hope that very soon made-in-Nigeria cars will jostle for space in motor fairs both in Nigeria and globally, along with the Toyotas, the Hondas, and Peugeots of this world,” sambo said.

The FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed, urged the automobile dealers in the country to take advantage of the large parcel of land earmarked in Tunga-Maje, near Zuba by the FCT administration for automotive market.

According to the minister, the land will provide the benefits of localisation of the industry, build synergy and spin-off the necessary multiplier effects.

“This is envisioned to stem the chaos in the sales of automobiles, especially of the second-hand type in every nook and cranny of the city.”

Chairman of BKG Exhibitions, Mr. Ifeanyi Agwu, called for a review of the new auto policy, saying it threw up new challenges which stakeholders did not envisage. He said a thorough review of the policy would ensure that many players would remain viable in the industry.

A Nigeria teacher was sent to
China to teach.
The first day he entered class, he began by
roll-calling. He said "Sheng." A student said
"Present." He called the second name, Chu
Muon. Another studentsaid "Present."
Suddenly, he sneezed,"hatchi a" One student
seated at the cornerstood up and said,
"Present." He then exclaimed and
said,"hmmmm..." all the students shouted
"Absent." He got confused and said," Shaa..."
Three students stood up and said, "Which of
us?"The teacher became more confused and
he asked, " What is wrong?" A student stood
up and said, " Sir, I'm not Wrong, I'm called
Wong."The teacher now laughed and said,
"hahaha" .. A girl said"Present sir."

You've said it all. The ones who will end up rich are those who will use the influx of car manufacturers to establish their little ancilliary businesses to feed the new entrants. Those who will end up broke are the 'critics'.

I'm personally tired of this government and its promises. The irresponsible government continues to spend billions of naira of our money and leaving us with benefits to be obtained years in the future.

Unemployed Nigerians don't give a damn about 700,000 jobs 10 years from now. Where are the jobs today?

Nansense!!
